My SO and I cannot agree on a name for our first (his third) and are due in a little over two weeks. My all-time favorite boy names have either been vetoed or are taken by family members (Jonah, Ezra, Samuel, Eli, Asher, Solomon, Nathan, Isaac). The baby has felt like a Jonah to me, and I sort of had my heart set on it. My SO just doesn't love it:-/
We are leaning towards a somewhat more traditional name because the baby's last name will be tricky (last name pronounced "Drypush" but spelled differently). The only ones we sort of agree on are the following:
Out of the above list, I think I like Jacob and Noah best, but I'm wondering if they are just too common. Both are in the top 5 on the Social Security website. Not sure if I would regret such a common name.
For middle names I like: Ronen, Emmett, Saul, Gideon, and Martin (family name).
I'm not much help since I'm in a similar boat. We are expecting baby boy #2. I had Jonah on my list too and my hubby doesnt like it. My number one name though is Caleb. He's on the fence about it and suggested Jacob. I don't mind Jacob it's just that I feel like it's common and our last name is super common. Think of like Jones. So I'm thinking with Jacob (common last name) he'll likely run in to people that has the same first AND last time. But I love the nn Jake! Hoping my hubby warms up to Caleb though.
Other suggestions I had on my list were Micah (which i also love and hubby said no). Josiah, Xavier and Chase (which I only crossed off since our kast name is one syllable, Chase just sounded too short with it).
Your style is very similar to mine! Off your list I like Noah and Gabriel the best. I wouldn't do Jocob bc it's so popular! We have chosen Sullivan nn Sully if it's a boy and my first son is Charlie. I also love Simon, Jonas, Jesse.
I love all your favorites that were vetoed! I have similar concerns about Noah and Jacob (nn Jake) being common, but I love both names. I'm not a big fan of Gabriel or Joseph, or Ezekiel but prefer it to Zeke as a given name.
I'd suggest Elijah (though also a common name) and Judah.
I'm not a fan of Ronen or Emmett but like your other mn options.
I love all your vetoed names (my sons mn is Solomon). Of the non veto list I like Noah and don't care that much about popularity for boys. Girls, I do, but boys less so for some reason.
