Hi! I made a quick announcement on 3rd tri board 3 weeks ago, but wasn't able to post pictures due to issue with app. These last 3 weeks have been such a rollercoaster of emotion. Ended up with a c section after 20 hours of non-progrossing labor. Contractions were strong, but cervix would NOT cooperate... didn't get passed 1cm! So we decided that c section was the best option at that point. Was the scariest thing I've ever done, but was also beautiful in a way that I never imagined. Word of advice... make a birth plan, but be open to the idea of nothing happening the way you imagined. My 11 step birth plan went completely out the window, but my baby boy is here and healthy!
Had some feeding issues these past few weeks. Lawson has a severe tongue tie that inhibits him from latching properly. He would be on my breast, but his sucking was ineffective. I didn't know until he started screaming at me all day. Ladies - it is NOT normal to be nursing around the clock, no matter what the internet says. I almost caused our little guy to be hospitalized for weight loss bc I refused to give up on the idea of breast feeding. Don't do that to yourself or your baby! Once we moved to expressed milk + formula, he's been a completely different baby!! Such a happy little guy. So yeah, I've had my hands full these past weeks. But we are now in a great routine and loving life!! Couldn't imagine life without my little bug!

My DD had a tongue and lip tie that I had cut when she was a month old. It was a rough but quick 5 minutes and she was her old self within a day (I had to do a lot more to make it work, but 90% of kids are fixed immediately just by the frenectomy). Just an option if you want to try and BF again! Glad you got it sorted out! Enjoy that cutie.
Congrats, he's beautiful! Great advice all around, I had a super basic birth plan and even that went out the window. Healthy mom and baby are all that matter! congrats!
As @peregrinefalconx mentioned frenectomy is a very minor procedure with easy recovery. My LO had a tongue tie, she could latch/got plenty of milk, but caused pretty severe pain on my part. Would not have fixed for that reason only. Tongue ties can apparently lead to TMJ issues, migraines, and speech impediments (lisp). When they are older, the procedure requires anesthesia and a longer recovery. Most ENT specialists will do it. I went to a periodontal specialist who uses laser instead of cutting(faster recovery). She was 2wks at the time it took about five minutes with no anesthesia needed . Sorry for the novella but my pediatrician really didn't know much about the condition and basically said if baby is getting enough there was no reason to correct which as you can see above is not true.

@2legbaby@peregrinefalconx We are going to pedi dentist tomorrow! Will most likely get them to do a frenectomy. They use laser as well. Funny how my pediatrician denied he had a tongue tie, but even I could have diagnosed based on the severity! Poor little guy. Hoping I can coax him back on the breast after the procedure. Wish us luck!

@babylonghorn16 my lactation consultant was the one to diagnose her, my pediatrician had no clue and didn't even know that you could do laser. I wish you luck tomorrow, I was so stressed beforehand but after realized it really was quick and easy. Good luck baby Lawson!

babylonghorn16 Oh, good. I am so glad you are going to pursue this. I'm not going to lie. It was rough and I had to go stand on the other end of the office so I couldn't hear her cry (and was def not the one holding her down!!) But like I said, she was fine within a day and the procedure is very short. This was unusual, but she remained with a "disorganized suck" and I had to follow up with a lot of exercises and worked with an occupational therapist for months. PM if you run into any stuff like that and have questions, but again, it is my understanding that 90% of kids just start sucking/nursing normally after the procedure.
Also, my DD was diagnosed by my midwives, not the ped. And we also used laser. My pedi dentist was amazing. I loved her! Good luck to you and your cutie.
