TW Tuesday 5/16

Who is being a twatwaffle in your life today?

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

Re: TW Tuesday 5/16

  • Me! I think I didn't rinse my Argan oil conditioner out yesterday and that's why my hair felt gross. Today, it feels great. I feel dumb!

  • My husband. He doesn't believe in Mother's Day gifts apparently (because he ran out of time this year... and doesn't feel bad about it because we went out for brunch and dinner so "that" was my gift instead. I get it, but I work hard to care for our son everyday so a little gift would Nice. And now he's annoyed with me because i said a few things Sunday that gave him a hard time about not getting a gift.

This cold I caught is a TW.  Also I am.  I left work to run to the pharmacy to get some Robitussin.  I thought it was odd when they asked to see my driver's license but showed it, grabbed my Tussin, and returned to work.  I realized that I bought the kind with a little alcohol in it when I went to open the bottle.
  • Can a 10 year old be a TW?? My kids are awesome. They wake up early, get themselves dressed (most of the time in appropriate clothes) and then they go outside and play until breakfast and getting ready for school time. This morning, they did their usual routine, but when it was time to get ready for school DS1 was dragging his feet and complaining the whole time. "why do we have to brush our teeth everyday?" Umm cavities, that's why? "why do I have to put on deodorant?" Because you smell like a sausage, pepper, and onion sub without it. "why do I have to eat breakfast?" Because it's the most important meal of the day apparently! Me: why the heck do you have to give me a hard time?? Him: because I'm a kid!!! Ahhhhh you're going to be late for school and make everyone else late for their day!! Grrrrr!!
  • @cmessamore man your kid is really testing you lol

Migraines are TWs. Like, head, you don't NEED to hurt right now. Or ever. Let's not do this. What even causes them? I understand Saturday/Sunday I was dehydrated but I'm pretty hydrated today and yesterday!

  • @av2323 I'm right there with you. My cold is also my TW today. I've been fighting this thing off for almost 2 weeks, and I still have a sore throat, congestion, and my ears hurt. Hopefully yours goes away faster than mine has!

MY TW is my DS5 and me.  He has been driving me batty not listening to anything lately - and I've had a short fuse.  This morning he started teaching DS3 to hit his own bum - in a "kiss my a**" type gesture.  I told him not to do it again - he then did it again - I yelled at him very loudly and he went to his room scared and crying.  When I explained why it was rude - he said he honestly didn't know it meant that and that his friends at school do it.  I said I understood that he didn't realize the full meaning but now he does - and it's rude and it's not acceptable to teach a  younger brother and also disrespectful to do something right after I said not to.  I just feel bad I yelled and made him cry before explaining - but sometimes parenting doesn't go the way you want it to!

@cmessamore if my 2yo and the 21mo I babysit can be TWs your 10yo most definitely can be.
  • @ooodalollly that is not cool. Ugh.

Yeah I am my own TW today... Have spent more time bumping and Fbing today than working... I just don't have the motivation today. On the upside it's my 2 year wedding anniversary so at least it's a special day? (Not we are Penny pinching too much to buy gifts this year)
  • @cmessamore Your 10 yr old can totally be your TW mine today is my 11yr old who is being the exact same way. It's rather normal though. She has ADHD and can't (or more likely won't) remember to get anything done without me telling her to do it on a daily basis. I've been complaining to DH about how I think that's the reason I always feel overwhelmed and exhausted. I am also recently very forgetful.... The 11yr old just went 4 days without a shower because I forgot to tell her to take one and DH has been swamped and not home. So frustrating!
  • It's a toss up between me and the 4 yo.... I bribed her with $10 for a yoyo at school. I can't decide if I'm a bigger TW for the bribery, or she is for going from full on melt down for an hour to sweet as pie when she was going to get a prize for being good.

The rain can go right ahead and stop anytime now.
Eta: it's supposed to be 27 tomorrow but NONE of the splash pads open until after Victoria day. So annoying.
  • @am+mommy yup, my 10 year old has ADHD too and can be quite the struggle sometimes. Usually, he's really good and he's a great helper, but today he was a pain in my booty! He'll be home from school soon, hoping he comes home with a better attitude!
  • @cmessamore @am+mommy I have twenty four 9 and 10 year olds. I have had several students with ADHD as well as my 13 year old nice and it's challenging / exhausting. (As a teacher, it can be rewarding to help them succeed too!) I feel ya though! I constantly tell parents that it's the "show me" age. Make them show you their homework (which is almost always stuff they choose), wet hair from the shower, etc. Just because they are capable and know what to do doesn't mean they will and they still mostly care what adults think, so they lie when caught because they understand what consequences are, but don't want to disappoint.

    @KLink15 Happy anniversary!

Ladies with headaches, check out trigger point therapy! I have a trigger point in my ear that often refers pain elsewhere and a simple little massage in the cartilage helps me. It doesn't always make it completely go away, but it's better than suffering.

My TW is the 7/8th grade computer applications class I'm subbing for this week. Their teacher is gone for a sports tournament in Japan (he coaches the soccer team) and he left them a pretty easy assignment of making a presentation of different internet terms. They're all talking and most of them aren't working so 20 mins before the end of class I said they had to print out a draft of their Powerpoint as proof of progress today.

  • @slaven you are a woman after my own heart!

my tw is my creepy now ex assistant who finally messed up bad enough to get put on administrative leave for the remainder of his two weeks before he leaves so while I am glad that he is gone because he is a creep but it threw the whole preschool wing into a tizzy all day since we didn't have the coverage for it.

@ChattyKity17 We had a Kindergarten teacher up and quit and it threw the whole administration for a loop. We're in Korea at a military school so it's not like they can just quickly hire someone. There aren't enough subs available as it is, especially long term, so one of the administrators has to teach the class for the rest of the year. They also had to pull an aide from another K class to help out so that other teacher is aide-less. And the K classes have over 20 kids each which is crazy for just 1 teacher.

@NYTino24 @slaven it's embarrassing how large classroom sizes are and how underpaid teachers are.  Smaller class sizes and a more reasonable curriculum would benefit our children in so many ways.
  • My TW is the doctors office that's told me to have my mom at the hospital an extra 2 hours prior to her procedure for no reason. I just loved freezing for three hours.
