January 2018 Moms

Have to eat every 2-3 hours.

Anyone else experiencing this? I have to eat very 2-3 hours or I get extremely nauseous. I am a second time mom and did not experience this he fist time around. I am also showing... like really showing at only 7 weeks. Wondering if this eating every 2-3 hour thing could be a symptom of multiples?

@hallbr I think having to eat every few hours is normal. I'm totally disinterested in food right now, but if I don't eat regularly I start to feel dizzy/nauseous.

ETA: The "showing" right now is bloat. All bloat.

So crazy how things are totally different from the first to the second pregnancy. You think you've done it once and you have it all figured out and BAM! It is not even remotely similar to your first experience.

@hallbr I'm right there with you!  If I don't eat something every couple hours I get crazy hangry.  Like irrational and grumpy.  I'm also a STM and with my first pregnancy I didn't have any appetite in my first trimester...I actually lost weight in my first tri because I wasn't hungry (not because of morning sickness).

It makes me wonder if I'm going to have a boy this time around...but who knows.  Like you said, each pregnancy is different. :)

PS-No shame in my snacking game this morning...I'm full on eating tortilla chips and queso dip at my desk and its only 7:00 in the morning.  :#

Yes, it's like that for me. Only, I'm moderately nauseated all the time, and seriously nauseated if I don't eat every two hours. But I don't want to eat.

All my life, I have loved food. It's so bizarre that it's a chore now.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • I had to eat every 2-3 hours in my first three pregnancies.   It's not a sign of multiples, it's a sign of pregnancy.    It's super common and most women have tonear smaller meals more often to stave off nausea.
  • Eat eat eat. With my first pregnancy I ended up with hyperemesis and couldn't eat for almost a month. Part of me still wonders if I made it worse by not eating frequently in the beginning.  This time I'm constantly snacking and praying it doesn't get so bad again.  But what better excuse to eat??

  • @hallbr I've heard several other women say the same thing. For me the nausea seems to be if I haven't had enough water, so it's an easy fix, and food has not really sounded good at all to me for the last 2 weeks. I'm tracking my food in my fitness pal and I'm coming short on my calories per day, but I just can't force anymore food down. I know it's just a stage so I'll wait it out!

  • I have found that I have to eat smaller porion more frequently just for the fact that I feel full really fast. Also, I'm legit hungry in the mornings.  I've never been a morning/breakfast person but I now wake up hungry. Super weird for me.
  • Any suggestions if you dont want to eat? Im a late eater. As in I never eat breakfast. I only start eating around noon and thats just a snack or two at work, then I get home and eat dinner and then a couple more snacks before bed. Im wondering if this is bad for the baby though? Is it ok since i just start eating later in the day or should I force myself to eat? I am forcing more fluids in me. Which Im finding is also tough and makes me feel huge, just liquid huge. Im getting tired of water so now Im trying watered down Gatorade for some flavor. I drink flavored seltzer water at home.

  • I'm in the "have to eat often to stave off nausea" camp. The nausea is always there but worse if I don't force myself to eat. What I find odd with this pregnancy is that even when I eat, my stomach feels empty. I can't feel full or satisfied with anything. Also burping a ton and I am definitely not used to that.

Fluids are going down. Food is another story.

I could have written this. I hate this nauseated state I am in.

@miranda21037 I don't like plain water either,  so I'll put a splash of juice or lemonade in my glass of water to give it flavor.  I end up drinking constantly all day which is great.
  • I'm totally on this 2-3 hours train. It's terrible. And if I let it get to the point where I'm actually nauseus instead of just mild belly ache, even eating doesn't help, only sleeping :( And then I wake up feeling a thousand times worse. So if I get to that point, I have to eat, then pop 2 tums, and hope for the best, lol. So far so good, but who knows how long that will last.

I've really been liking the new 7Up sparkling lemonades! I picked up the cucumber mint and the lemon. The bubbles and the mint/sour lemon really help with nausea when I don't feel like eating.

  • Yep, I need a snack with protein every 2-2.5 hours or I'm super nauseous and grouchy. I've stocked my desk with peanut butter crackers, beef jerky, and I have yogurt in the fridge!

Me too - I'm always hungry and started feeling nauseated yesterday. I never had this last pregnancy.
