Happy Mother's Day! What are your silly questions?

  • @KLink15 definitely!! I skipped the genetic testing too and I keep referring to the baby as a boy. My husband is convinced it's a girl though and last time I was totally wrong sooo I definitely wonder often. I also ask what the baby would like to eat since my tastes have changed dramatically again while pregnant.

@KLink15 I mostly ask the baby to let up on the m/s these days but I think that counts as conversation too !

  • Should I be worried if my cat walks/lays on me? I know at this point if I poke my abdomen baby will move around though I can't feel it. Can kitty hurt baby at all with laying or walking on that area?

  • KLink15KLink15 member
@rms924 I ask the baby for that too, often times while I am at the toilet I squawk something along the lines, "If you keep this up kid you and I are gonna have some issues...."

@DuchessOfCambridge I let my dog walk on me but she's 3.5lbs, most cats are bigger haha. My Sheltie still lays on me and likes to use my tummy as a pillow but I don't let her step on me. She jumped on me once while I was laying in bed so her paws landed with quite a bit of force and it hurt for a second so now she can't jump/step on me, but she's almost 30lbs.

  • Has anyone tried a boba wrap before? If not...dont try it unless you want to laugh so hard you gasp for air. Dh tried one out that we were gifted and put the dog in it to test it out. Totally dropped the dog out the bottom and was clawed by him on the way down. It was hysterical.

@DuchessOfCambridge my cat does the same thing and I'm not worried about it at all. He's a fairly big cat, too--15 pounds or so. I wouldn't want him to jump on my belly, but I think stepping/laying on it is totally fine. But like @am+mommy said, if it makes you anxious, avoid it.

I talk all to my baby all the time!  I try to avoid doing it in public though haha.

I have no idea why my phone puts tagged usernames in quotes sometimes. Anyone else have this issue?

edit--just realized it doesn't do the quote thing once it is posted, just in the draft. Strange.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge my 30+ lb toddler climbs and lays on my tummy allllll the time. Last night he slept in my bed and kicked me several times in his sleep haha pretty sure it's all fine though, I stop him if I get uncomfortable :) also my in-laws cat has been practically stalking me while I stayed here this weekend. He has curled up with me and the toddler every day for nap time. He has become way more cuddly with me since I got pregnant again.
  • @MississippiCatfish definitely. Like one of the best perks of being pregnant is not having to think about prevention with my husband. Is the possible transmission period really that long???

  • @MississippiCatfish at the travel and Zika part yes, condom part no (all about easy cleanup). Malaysia has Zika?? That sucks though, I'm sorry :disappointed:

  • @MississsippiCatfish My husband went to Mexico to be in a friend's wedding. It was worth it for him. Your friend will be okay.  ;)

@DuchessOfCambridge @bannaners I didn't see it on the Zika map, but when I specifically searched for Malaysia and Zika, it led me to a CDC page that states it is an affected area and pregnant couples should use condoms for the remainder of the pregnancy (Because the male could basically be a carrier without symptoms).

Obviously I'm happy to do it to keep baby safe, but I am annoyed. Wah. I guess this would have been more appropriate in the wahmbulence thread;)

  • @MississippiCatfish I would be pretty unhappy about that. The travel and time away, the Zika and the condoms :(
  • @MississippiCatfish Same thing happened with DH. We are doing the condoms too. Not my favorite, but better safe than sorry.

  • @MississippiCatfish I'd definitely be annoyed by that. But since it's for work, what can ya do. We both skipped a wedding in Mexico. Maybe this belongs in UO, but I thought it was kind of inconsiderate to have a wedding in a Zika area when most of your friends are starting families. But whatever. Weddings are about the couple more than the guests.

@cwalker042 I do that too! Plus I'm a total tummy sleeper - not sure how I'm going to fair as the bump gets bigger.
  • @AntWolfe I LOVED my boba! I used with DS3 all the time, though I've never tried it with a dog! Lol

@MississippiCatfish I'd be beyond annoyed! Not only about the travel and condom use, but also about the fact that condoms aren't always 100% effective, so I'd be panicked like a crazy person till the baby came.

Mortifying question. I'm on pelvic rest, and the nurse defined that as "nothing in the vagina". Does this mean that.... uhhhhh... manual stimulation is okay?

  • @pawcall - I think it depends on the reason for the pelvic rest? Like, if you want to prevent contractions, etc, you shouldn't orgasm. But if it's an infection type worry, I can't see that being an issue. Maybe a hand wash beforehand?

The issue is that I've been having a lot of spotting when I overexert myself. So they told me to limit walking up and down my stairs, not carry heavy things, take it easy, that kind of thing. But also pelvic rest.

Orgasm has caused spotting since day 1 so I probably should avoid it but.... waaaaaa!

  • If you're trying to prevent the spotting, manual stimulation probably isn't a good thing  :( I'm sorry!

@pawcall you always want it more when someone says you cannot have it. ;-0
  • @bklynchica I feel the same. They knew most of their friends were TTC, but a destination wedding was much cheaper for THEM... One couple put off TTC #2 for it and another couple didn't go (she's due a week after me!) but DH was a groomsman.
