  • How far along are you? 8+2 according to second ultrasound today

How old are your other kids?
    9 months

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?  I lost about 3 lbs from my last appointment, so my doc told me I really need to wean completely. I'm still pumping and BFing a little, and supplementing with formula, but I guess we'll need to switch to 100% formula. I'm definitely not underweight, so I'm really not concerned about not gaining weight yet, but I think supporting all three of us might be a little much for my body, especially since I'm not that far out from my last pregnancy. I am a little sad, though.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : We got some "I'm going to be a big sister" onesies for DD. We're going to announce to our parents this weekend.

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ Moms who already have two, what do you do about monitors? DD is still going to be pretty young when this baby arrives, so I kinda feel that we should have monitors in both rooms. Most that I've seen so far have two parent monitors, not two baby monitors. Maybe we'll just buy another one like the one we already have and keep one on my side and one on DH's side.

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby? DH and I have always planned for 2, so this is probably our last one. But, DH does really want a boy to carry on the family name (he's an only child), so if this one is also a girl, I wonder if he will want to try once more. So far, he is sticking to saying 2 is it!

I love my little girl so much, I can't imagine how great it will be to have two of them!

    DD turns 1 next weekend!

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?
The only thing I am really worried about is how the heck I'm going to manage two different nap schedules!

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
I just know DD is going to be such a great big sister!

    Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/
I have a feeling my milk supply is really dropping, and I'm having the hardest time switching DD over to homo milk.

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby?
initially I said that I only wanted two kids, but ever since DD was born I have been open to the idea of having 3! We have struggled with infertility & used a sperm donor to conceive DD (this time we were able to conceive naturally after being told it would never happen) so family planning is kind of just up in the air for us at this point.

@bkrahn, if it makes you feel any better, my kids are on the same nap schedule! A lot of it had to do with them going to daycare and daycare doing nap time at the same time for all kids over 1, but it's possible! Sure for the first half a year or so while the baby is still taking two naps it's not so feasible, but after that it's really nice.

@NME44 that does make me feel a bit better! I know that eventually once I get into the swing of things it'll all be fine, it's those first few months I'm worrying about. My daughter still loves to be rocked to sleep, and it's hard not knowing if I'll still be able to do that once this baby comes

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?  Paying for daycare, how to juggle 2 kids and working FT, my worries go on and on

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : I'm really excited to see my kids grow up together!

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ Rant: I work Mother's Day...again. Last year Mother's Day was my first weekend back from maternity leave! It sucked.

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby? Last one! We don't want to be out numbered. Also, daycare for 3...yikes.
  • @bkrahn  my boys are also on the same nap schedule! My youngest takes a morning nap and then both lay down in the afternoon together. I call it quiet time for my almost 4 year old. Sometimes he doesn't actually nap but he lays down for about 3 hours. It is possible!

    I had to check! I am 10w 5d

Sam is going to be 4 next month and Zeke is 15m

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?
Nothing really. I'm just tired ALL THE TIME. I still have no idea how I'm going to manage 3.

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
Zeke is starting to mimic words! Sam didn't speak until well after his second bday so having Zeke saying words like red, green and up is so strange.

My sisters husky had 8 puppies this morning! My sis is in Arizona for the week so my DH and I helped deliver them. They're pretty adorable.

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby? Well, DH has always wanted 3 and I grew up in a family of 6 so I've always wanted 4. Since we have two boys my hubs is really hoping this is a girl. If it is then he's sure he's done but I'm not sure yet lol.

Him seeing me so sick; he's very sensitive and I don't want him to think it's the baby making me sick; he's also back in our bed and I know it won't be forever so I've kinda just accepted it but I'm worried about when the baby comes Bc DS really likes his sleep lol

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM :
DS gave me his favorite blanket so that me and the baby could feel better. I just know he's going to be the best big brother.

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby?

This is a hard question for me.  We always planned for just two; but this was a miracle pregnancy for me and we have two embryos left so I really don't know what we will do.

  • @cait5413 I'm so sad for you that your doctor told you to wean. Did he/she give you any other options? Perhaps you could take extra prenatals and ensure your fat intake is adequate?

@missbmama my 15mo is mimicking too! It's so darn cute!

@Marley629 your DS sounds like a adorable, sensitive little soul <3

Current challenges/concerns about being a STM or questions about things your children are going through now?  DS is officially down to 1 nap and I'm not ready for it! I was thoroughly enjoying my two breaks in the day!

Current joys/successes/or happy thoughts about being a STM : we had an ultrasound yesterday, got to see the heartbeat and babe is measuring one day ahead! And there's only one! haha there are TONNES of twins in my family so it was a genuine concern lol

Rants/Raves/Randoms/Questions/ We told my mom today. She had a feeling but was super excited! We are going to tell my brothers/some extended family tomorrow. We also told DH's brothers today!

GTKY: What does your family plan look like? Is this your last baby?
Personally, I want 4. But we will see after this one comes, how stressed I am haha. Knowing my luck we'd agree on 3 and end up with twins to make 4 anyway haha

  • @kvacmak no, she didn't offer any other options. I'm already supplementing because I can't pump enough for her anymore, and I am not sure how much she is getting at the breast--she gets pretty impatient with it these days. I was hoping to make it to a year, but I'm going to go down to feeding her AM and PM and one pump in the middle and then drop the pumping session and see how it goes. We're on vacation for 2 weeks, so that may make it harder to pump depending upon what we're doing. She'll be a few days from 10 months old by the time we get back. I think one issue is she really prefers food anyway. It is a struggle to get her to drink a 4 oz bottle of either breastmilk or formula--she'd rather be on the go or actually eating food. Trying to grow up too fast!
