Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Shingles are improving. I didn't end up taking the medicine since my OB said it wouldn't really do anything to speed up the healing. Basically she said it would just mitigate the symptoms, and my symptoms weren't terrible anyways, so I decided to suck it up and let it run its course.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Regular OB appointment last Wednesday - all is well. My BP and baby's heartbeat are both great. Fundal height is within range.

    Rants/raves?
Rant - our lawnmower decided to die Monday. Ugh. And DH is insisting on getting a riding one to replace it. He found a used one for $1,000 that he went to look at yesterday and is buying today...but it kills me to spend that much money on a freaking lawn mower.
Rave - last night was the first night in I don't even know how long that I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to pee! I still woke up a few times, but didn't get out of bed. woohoo.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? None.

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? Honestly, a lot. He is so excited to be a dad, and he spoils the crap out of me as it is, so I know he is going to want to help me recover as best he can. Plus, I know this little girl is going to have him wrapped around her tiny little finger the minute he sees her. I can't wait to see him with her. <3

  • @rae1-3 I'm glad the shingles are getting better!  That is a bummer about the lawnmower.  But if it gets you out of cutting the grass, I'd take it :)

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? I'm getting winded and tired more easily.  I feel a lot of pressure when my bladder is full and after meals.  The joys of 3rd Tri...

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Had an appointment with my OB yesterday.  This baby has an official eviction date of July 3rd :o It may happen sooner, depending on baby's growth and cord blood dopplers.

Rants/raves? Combined rant and rave - the weather.  I'm glad the rain stopped and we have lots of sunshine, but I cannot deal with mornings in the 30s anymore.  It's May goddammit!

Questions for FTM, or STM+? If anyone has read any helpful resources or know of any classes on c-section recovery, please share!

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? My DH should be able to take off about 3-4 weeks total.  We haven't worked out the timing yet.  Since the baby will most likely be in the NICU for a while, I'm not sure if it's better to save his vacation for when the baby comes home.  It will likely be some combination of the two.  My attitude is to let it work itself out B)

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?  Still just BH, sore hips and being tired.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?   Check up tonight.

Rants/raves?  We are so close to finishing the nursery!  And its scary that we are that much closer to bringing home baby!

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?  DH likes to joke that I'll still do everything around the house, but I know that he'll cater to my every whim that first week or 2.  He will be staying home for at least a week, 2 if I have a CS.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Definitely more bathroom trips but not much else.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Had my GD test Saturday and I got the result that night which was a happy surprise, all normal just slightly anemic. Have a check up with OB this afternoon.

Rants/raves? My school is having it's Quality Review next week which means our every move is being scrutinized, not enjoying the extra stress.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? I decided to put no clothing on my registry since people tend to buy it anyway without looking at what you requested and you end up with too much...hope I don't end up with nothing.

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? We're lucky in that we're both teachers so he'll be off of work until the end of August. He's going to help as much as he's able but he's also pretty clueless when it comes to child care. We're taking a class next month and he is more than willing to just do whatever I ask him to.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Some occasional pain in my lower belly. It sort of feels like the muscles are overstretched.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope

Rants/raves? I'm so happy that my baby is getting stronger, but the movements are getting to be a bit much at times. It's hard to sleep when I feel jabs and wiggles and stretching and sliding around across my entire belly.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Are any of you planning to get your car seat installation checked out by your local fire department/whoever does it in your county? I don't know if this is overkill or a smart idea.

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?  Well he doesn't have boobs so he won't be able to do everything... ;) but he's taking 8 weeks off (his boss is insanely awesome) and will probably handle most of the cooking/cleaning/laundry/etc. while I'm healing and nursing around the clock. I also expect that he'll be an expert baby cuddler and that he'll be forced to deal with his aversion to dirty diapers.

Honestly, even if DH takes awhile to bond with the baby and doesn't feel like he can do much to help with her right away, he's always been a wonderful caregiver to me when I've been sick or recovering from something. So it will be nice to have someone taking care of me during the first really difficult days.

I had one, it went well! Checking my blood sugar till the next appointment now (2 weeks)

None I can think of right now...!
GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks.

He's super hands on anyway, He treats me like a baby.
I wonder how he'll cope with another baby in the mix. His work is quite flexible so that's nice. He already keeps the house clean, runs errands without me having to say it such as dry cleaning, vacuum, kitchen cleanup, sheet changing and stocking up grocery, cleaning car etc so not worried about that so I'm going to leave house duties entirely to him. Cooking is something I am completely responsible for so I am teaching him how to cook slightly more elaborate things so he has some idea about cooking more things, that would help a lot because I don't want him neglecting his eating habits with so many duties.
  • @SpongeWorthy I've never heard of a cs recovery class, but I'm from a very small town. They might be available in a bigger town. I wasn't informed about it when my first emergency cs. For the second I asked my OB about everything, the procedure, the recovery, everything I could think of, I also read everything, watch everything I could too.

The only thing I can tell you that I found life changing was a CS recovery belt. I got the Abdomend CS recovery belt from Amazon. You will have a driving restriction, a 2 week PP appointment to either get your staples out or check your incision. And you can't pick up anything heavier than your baby, don't skip out on the pain meds. Take them around the clock the 1-3 days.

Ask your OB what s/he uses for sutures, I had dissolvable staples on the inside and glue on the outside.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?
Just generally feeling large!  Sleep went out the window weeks ago so no change there.  ETA:  Eating like a horse and drinking my weight in water/milk lol!  Which not surprisingly results in a million bathroom trips!

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?
I feel like I haven't checked-in in a while?  Had an OB appointment last week, everything was good. Found out I get to have another ultrasound (around 34/35) because my OB wants to make sure she's head down.  So I'm pretty stoked about that!  I thought my AS scan was it and that I wouldn't be able to "see" her again until she was born.

    Rants/raves?
I always have rants and raves but you don't want to hear any of that ...

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?
Lots.  I think he's going to be amazing! I know he knows I'm going to be relying on him for a lot of support (mostly emotional) in the beginning.  I had my first, 'Holy shit I'm scared!' moment yesterday and knowing we'll be doing it together is the only thing keeping my "freak-out" meter at bay haha!

I'm getting larger by the second!

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?
Nope.  Have an appt on Thursday though

    Rants/raves?
I had a schedule conflict, and DH went to a preschool tour without me.  It was one of the fancy ones that is a feeder school for the feeder pre-K for the elite private school on the island.  The wait list is 2 years!  Ugh.  I wish the public school near our house wasn't so awful.

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?
It's hard to say.  DH is really excited to be a dad, but at the same time, he's really skittish.  He's afraid to hold other people's babies because he's afraid he'll break them.  Also, he runs a small business and my due date is around the same time as when the general manager is taking a medical leave so I'm not sure he'll be around during the day that much.
  • @mrsla512 Thanks for that info!  I didn't even think about not being able to drive for a while - that makes sense.  How long was your driving restriction?  I'll have to figure something out if DH goes back to work, but I still have to go to the NICU for feedings and such.  I will definitely order that recovery belt ahead of time.  Thanks for the suggestion!

  • @greenbean-2 We're getting ours checked by the state police. We were going to anyways, but we can't seem to get it tight enough, so now we have to get it checked.

How far along are you? 31 weeks!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Back pain is getting so bad that I'm going to go to a chiropractor now for it. Can't be in the car for more than ten minutes, which just isn't working.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Had one last week, not sure if I mentioned it or not. Everything is right on schedule.

Rants/raves? Not sure which it is, but I was at my La Leche meeting today, and I realized that at most I only have 2 more inside baby meetings. The July meeting is the day before my due date, so I might not even still be pregnant then! It feels very real..... both excited and scared.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? Not a lot unfortunately. He is going back to work as soon as we get home (so he'll leave when I go into labor, be with me until the baby is born, take me to my appointment the day after I give birth, and then he'll be back to work the next day). He doesn't have paid time off, and while his boss offered to work out him being able to take a week, he doesn't want to mess with our income that much. He has CRPS in his foot, which throws off everything in his body, so he's often in pain which makes it harder for him to do stuff. In addition, he is terrible at house stuff, needs a ton of relax time after working, and since we "switched" and he works and I'm home, I pretty much do everything. We both like it better this way, but post partum I have no idea how much I will/won't be able to do and he is not good about picking up my slack. I have to kind of really emphasize how much I need his help and nag him a bunch and then eventually he does stuff. I'm actually getting worried about what he is going to be like, so I'm going to talk to him about it tonight. Thankfully his mom is coming over every day for the first week to help me, so I won't be completely alone. But after that, I'm pretty much left to my own devices. I'm hoping I can handle it.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Well I'm now being medicated for GD since all the dietary restrictions haven't changed my fasting numbers. This means I'll need even more monitoring. NSTs on top of the fairly regular monitoring for fibroid growth and positioning.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I see my regular OB for a normal 32 week scan tomorrow morning. I've heard a few different things about how the decision to medicate GD can change birth plans so I'll have a lot of questions for her.

    Rants/raves?
Rant - perhaps a bit TMI, but I am so ridiculously gassy today. Like I'm not sure I've felt like this before. I don't feel like it's going to "escape" through one end or the other (which is probably a good thing since I'm in meetings for a lot of the day), but I'm sitting here feeling like Violet the blueberry from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Rave - We had our mini babymoon over the weekend and it was awesome. It got really windy and chilly one night, but we were still able to enjoy the mineral waters and massages. Lots of good memories!

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Has anyone else had gas like this??? What did you do?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? Hopefully a lot! He's been so hands-on and helpful with the pregnancy. My only concern is that neither of us have experience with babies...but newborns make him especially nervous. On the bright side, if the 3D ultrasounds are right, he's going to have a total "mini me" because so far this little girl looks exactly like him. I seriously cannot wait to see them look into each other's eyes for the first time!!!
  • @lanie1000 Yes girl.  I got hit with gas horribly last week or the week before sometime.  I was in serious pain though.  I could hardly move it hurt so bad and finally doing some yoga poses relieved it.  I got on my bed on my knees with my head down on the mattress and that helped A LOT.  I recommend that.  Or downward facing dog if you want your feet down on the floor helps too.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Baby girl is moving like crazy, sometimes painfully so as others have mentioned.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I think I updated last week after my appointments, but growth scan last Monday went phenomenally, so I thought I could skip them, but my OB wants me to keep going to them monthly.  Really that only entails June and July, so two, but still two more appointments I have to schedule and leave work to handle.

Rants/raves? We put in the formal offer on our house today and I'm anxious to hear back!

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?  I think he will want to help a TON, but he will also be scared, so it's a toss up how much help he'll actually be.  He's already sure he will cry in the delivery room, and positive he wants to cut the cord, and talking about our new neighborhood (God willing) and all the things he plans to do with our daughter, but I don't know if he actually knows what he's in for lol.  I'm looking forward to seeing him as a daddy though.  He's such a big kid himself!

@rae1-3 Sorry about the mower!  That sucks!

@SpongeWorthy Glad your DH can take so much time off and you can work it to your advantage.  Don't stress mama!

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum?
I think I've mentioned how much my husband has stepped up since I got pregnant. He likes to be busy, and is now the major cleaner in the house, which was split 50-50 in this current house before I got pregnant, and I did the bulk of the cleaning when we rented. He gets leave too, so I know he's going to take good care of us and be able to care for the dog as well.

YES.  I can't get over how much my bump has grown in the last couple of weeks.  I also feel like the baby is pushing against the outside of my stomach constantly.  Actually, DH saw my belly move on its own for the first time.  There was a little jiggle when she shifted position.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Nothing new I think, just more movements and more discomfort

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?  We had a growth scan today, and thankfully things are still going well. OB appt tomorrow.

Rants/raves? I think I've been a little cranky today (if you ask my husband, he'll say a lot cranky but I blame him for half of that lol) but I'm blaming that on me waking up at 5am and not being able to get back to sleep until 20 mins before needing to get ready for our appointment today.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? I'm hoping a lot! He needs to learn how to care for the baby solo by September because I'll be going back to work then so I'm expecting him to be hands on from the start so that he can get that down. As far as other stuff, he does tend to step up when I'm sick or too busy so I'm expecting him to do the same postpartum.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? So it's been awhile! I had a crazy busy work event and so much travel and now I am done with travel, we bought a house, and we move this weekend. Honestly, I am just beyond tired right now.

I had to go back to my first trimester dose of nausea meds and still was sick a couple days with throwing up- not fun.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? everyone is normal. My baby was 3lbs at 28 weeks so this is a big boy! :)

Rants/raves? It's so weird when people go up to you and say .....you're pregnant. I am like yes.......and I am so nervous post baby when you look pregnant those you're pregnant comments will be even weirder.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? I think....I am just curious if anyone else has battled the extreme tired. Uusally, I watch water intake, get small snacks, but none of that is working today. I worry its the start of a new symptom and my shower and moving are this weekend so not ok.

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? So our in laws are likely going to be moved in with us by then....lots of changes and their 2 dogs!   I think helping with bringing fluids and diaper changes would be huge. My hubby is taking the first 2 weeks post. I am only taking 2 months so I may try to have him take a little time after my mat leave is over too.
  • How far along are you? 31w6d

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Indigestion every time I eat. I also seem to go longer between eating meals, but the headaches that tell me I should eat something are coming sooner than I feel hungry. I really don't like forcing myself to eat something.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope.

    Rants/raves?

Rant: My MIL needs to grow the f up. Long story short: she threw a temper tantrum in public Tuesday night because I wanted to spend Mother's Day with my own mother instead of her. At the beginning of the evening, she said that she was going to try and come to the baby shower that a wonderful family friend is throwing for me (I invited her because it was the right thing to do), but after said temper tantrum is "not sure she can make it". It will be no skin off my back if she does not attend. I don't need her there to stress me out.

Rave: I stood up for myself during said temper tantrum. It's been a long time coming, but I'm not putting up with her shenanigans anymore.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY:  How much help do you expect your SO to give you in the first days/weeks postpartum? DH is only taking a week off work, so that first week should be an adjustment. After that, I have no idea. I'm pretty sure he's going to be operating on very little sleep.
