Why are you high-risk? short cervix and low lying placenta

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I have an ultrasound and OB appt tomorrow.

    Any concerns/news currently?
Tuesday morning when I woke up I had some red bleeding. This was after having some minor brown spotting last week. I called the after hours line for my OB's office and the doctor on call told me to go into the hospital to get checked out. I was really lucky that my OB happened to be on a hospital shift at the time I came in, so I actually got to see her and have her decide how to deal with everything. After an exam showed I was no longer actively bleeding and my cervix was closed, they sent me for an ultrasound. My cervical length had not changed at all since my last ultrasound, so fortunately there was no indication of preterm labor. It seems that the low lying placenta is causing these bleeding episodes. My doctor now wants me to work at home full time to minimize the chance of additional bleeding. I'm really happy that the baby continues to be very healthy and my cervical length is remaining stable, but these episodes are still really scary. I really hope as I get further along the placenta will move and I won't have to worry about this anymore.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
Stable cervix and no more bleeding!

Why are you high-risk? Gestational Diabetes, Previous Pre-Term Labor - my first was born at 24 weeks

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? There's an appointment with the dietitian this week to talk about my blood sugars and the possibility of going onto insulin.

    Any concerns/news currently?
I was admitted to the hospital last week for kidney stones, but released the next day as they passed, so yay!!

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
I'm just really praying that I do not need to start taking insulin for my GD.

GTKY: What is a guilty pleasure you have? G-R ratings welcome!
My guilty pleasure is eating at Taco John's, it is my favorite fast food place.

  • @Rhubarb7216 Oh no, I hope the bleeding stays away! I'm glad there's no sign of preterm labor. You're almost to viability week <3

@craftymandy I'm sorry you've been diagnosed with GD! I hope your blood sugars remain cooperative and baby stays healthy!

    How far along are you?
    23 weeks

Why are you high-risk? Type 1 DM, MTHFR

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I had another endo appt today to review my basal rate changes from 2 weeks ago. We reduced a few again! No appts until 2 weeks later now.

    Any concerns/news currently?
This past week I got super lazy about my blood sugars and I was so embarassed for my doctor to see those spikes. I need to be better. Le sigh. I will start eating and bolus as I'm eating. Well that's too late, because insulin really hits about 30 minutes in, but food starts rising 15 minutes in. I need to be better about bolusing before I start eating.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
That my motivation and effort keeps up to take care of my blood sugars, and maybe I shouldn't eat so carelessly.

I love shoes from Dillards. It's been awhile since I've bought some.. but before I was married I would buy like 8 pairs of heels a summer! My money = shoes!  I was Dillards yesterday and walked past the shoes.. and my addiction tried to come back. Pregnancy foot swelling/being unable to bend over and do straps is the only thing keeping me from buying new shoes..

  • Thanks @Sugargirl1019! Good luck with your blood sugars! I do not envy you having to monitor all of that so closely.

Woo hoo! My complete previa has moved a bit and is now only marginal. Here's hoping it keeps migrating. Hope everyone is doing well this week!

@Rhubarb7216  FX working from home will help. I would be going crazy with anxiety attacks if I kept having to deal with spotting. I hope you don't have any more spotting for the rest of the pregnancy!

I would probably have to say baking. Baking just helps me relax. It's my go to anytime I am stressed, home alone, or just bored. Who doesn't love the smell of fresh bread, pastries, and pies?

    Why are you high-risk? HBP

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? No additional monitoring this week. Still just keeping track of my BP once daily.

    Any concerns/news currently?
Nothing new here. Feeing baby boy moving around more and more. So cute!

I love bags/purses. I have not gotten a new one in awhile. Maybe I should start looking :)

@Rhubarb7216 I am hoping you have no more bleeding scares. Awesome news on your cervix!

@craftymandy I had kidney stones my last pregnancy too. I was eating too many tums I guess. Glad you were not in the hospital too long with those.

@Sugargirl1019 Keeping track of blood sugars does not sound like a good time. You are doing great! I get really frustrated with some of my BP readings. I have spikes due to anxiety and get really mad at myself. We just gotta keep truckin!

@sbl0609 Great news! Hoping for continued improvement.
  • @sbl0609 That's fantastic news!!! Yay for all the cooperating cervixes  (cervices?) up in here!!!! @Rhubarb7216
