PGAL Check-In | 5.11.17

Hi ladies! I borrowed a slightly different format from the Nov 16' BMB - we'll see how we like this instead of the usual check-in format.

1. How far along are you today?

2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?

3. When is your next appointment?

4. How is your SO handling everything?

5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater?

  • 1. How far along are you today?  18w6d

    2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?  Anxiety is pretty high in anticipation of my AS on Monday.  I have been crying at the drop of a hat lately, and I'm trying my best to get a lot of work done today and tomorrow so I can focus on something else and make sure I don't have to do anything on Monday should it not all go well.  I did not think this AS appointment through, as my sister is getting married next Friday.  Hopefully it'll all be happy news and just a week full of excitement, but heaven forbid if it's not.  I know, I need to push these thoughts out of my head.

    3. When is your next appointment?
    Monday for the AS.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?  He's been really great through this whole process and he's starting to get more excited (though not excited about painting the nursery soon!). He knows I've been incredibly anxious this week and just does his best to keep me calm.

    5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater?
It's been a bit...I think it was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

    1. How far along are you today? 18 w, 2 days

    2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes? I have a cold and am staying in bed today.  This is probably a poor life choice.

    3. When is your next appointment?
Tuesday for a/s.  I suddenly have an unfounded fear that the a/s is going to show that there is something wrong with the baby. @laeberge3 I just read through your post and think we are going through the same thing.  I have never had a "bad" u/s before but I just can't stop considering that there is a statistical possibility that there could be something wrong.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?  He is having some difficult professional struggles right now and I think having a baby on the way makes it seem even worse.

    5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater?
Beauty and the Beast (the new live-action one).  I wouldn't have chosen to go on my own, but a friend was looking for a girls' day with our daughters.  It was really good!

@laeberge3 I think you'll feel so much better after the AS but the wait to get there has gotta be excruciating when you're this close.  Mine's the 22nd and I'm already feeling antsy.  Next week will feel so great when it's over with and you can focus on your sister's wedding though!!

    1. How far along are you today?  17w5d

    2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes? I feel like a slug.  I'm not getting any work done.  I went to bed way too late last night (10pm, haha) and I'm just not functional at all today.  Plus it's been a relatively busy week already so I feel like I need a weekend NOW.  On the successes side, I've had a lot of success managing my nausea this week using CBD oil, which makes me feel like a super granola hippy but hey it works!

    3. When is your next appointment?
May 17 for a quickie, 22nd for the AS

    4. How is your SO handling everything?  He's doing great, the only hiccup is that he doesn't understand why I have body image issues right now.  I keep trying to talk to him about it (ok fine, I bitch about my weight to him) and he tells me I'm beautiful and expects that to solve the problem.  These issues are so ingrained, they're not going to go away just like that.  We sat down and had a broader talk about parenting and how it's important to acknowledge and affirm a child's feelings before moving on to the "fix it" phase of the discussion, and since then he's been doing better about telling me he understands and holding that space for a minute before launching into the "baby you're pregnant it's ok to gain weight" speech.

    5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater?
I honestly don't even remember.  I want to see that new one with Goldie Hawn though, I love her.
  • @aprilsarahjune PGAL-brain just sucks sometimes. I haven't had any bad US with this baby (but did with our loss), and despite it all seeming okay, the fear creeps in.  I hope your cold gets better! Also, I totally wanted to see Beauty and the Beast - maybe I'll see if that's still playing locally.

@migdala I always do pretty well when the appointment is still weeks away and when we're this close, it gets worse and worse. Glad to hear you're keeping the nausea at bay - whatever works, right?! :) I'm glad your H is open to your thoughts about the body image issue. My H likes to be a fixer as well and when all you want is acknowledgement, it is frustrating.

  • @laeberge3 I hope your AS goes well on Monday. Make sure to come back and update us and post a pic in the U/S thread! I know pgal anxiety can get the best of us sometimes.

@aprilsarahjune I hope you get some rest and feel better soon. Good luck at your AS on Tuesday.

@migdala That's awesome you got the nausea under control. Sorry you're having body image issues right now..but remember you are literally growing a human inside of you and it's going to cause a lot of physical changes. Not to mention all the extra hormones that are raging through us and causing us to feel even worse. But it will be okay. Growing a baby is one of the most beautiful things you can do <3

    1. How far along are you today?
    16w 2d

    2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Like the rest of you, I'm having a lot of anxiety over the AS..which isn't even until June 1st! It must be a common fear in pgal gals, because I didn't feel this way when I was pregnant with DS. I had also mentioned in another thread that I recently traveled to see some family in a zika zone...and got bit a couple of times while I was there not thinking anything of it. I didn't know that it was one of the areas to avoid until after the fact.. Now I'm just stressed and hoping that I got bit by mosquitos that weren't infected. And my doctor doesnt seem concerned enough to test me, which is irritating because the CDC specifically says that anyone living in or traveling to that area needs to be tested.

    3. When is your next appointment?
    The AS June 1st

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He isn't very involved in the pregnancy at all. I'm hoping he'll be around for the AS.

    5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater?

Guardians of the galaxy 2. I'm usually not into superhero movies, but it was pretty good.

    2. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?feeling good...had a rough week...went to doc on Monday she did the Doppler and could not find a heart beat so I started to have a panic attack after trying for 5 minutes she took me in for a sono and we saw baby moving and heard heart beat of 140.  She then informed me I have an anterior placenta.  This will make it hard for doppler for a while and I probably won't feel baby for another few weeks.  This is a struggle for me because after the loss my anxiety with this pregnancy has been so high I was hoping to feel him/her soon in order to ease my mind.  I just keep telling myself a few more weeks.

    3. When is your next appointment?
Tuesday May 16 for Anatomy Scan

    4. How is your SO handling everything? he is okay just worried about me because I'm so nervous this time

    5. GTKY: What's the last movie you saw in theater? i
t has been awhile....we have a fire stick
  • @nalex420  Bummer on the anterior placenta.  That is especially hard for a PGAL moma.  I am glad that you know it now, though, so you know what to expect from the doppler and movement; I am sure that is not much consolation after all you have been through.  And what is this "fire stick" of which you speak?  I may be way behind in my technology!

@flowerintherain I hope that it is nothing, but I vote that you fight hard to get zika testing!  The worry-about-list seems so long while pregnant - where you can travel, what you can eat, how you can exercise, what medicines you can take.  Ugh.

  • I somehow missed checking in here this week so I'm sorry to be an AW right now. I am just really struggling around Mother's Day and feeling like I don't deserve this. I made a lot of friends during my time on TTCAL and maybe it's because I am still friends with a lot of them on FB and many have never had kids.

I just get this weird feeling like why I am the one who now has a 3 year old and one on the way? It hasn't been sunshine and rainbows, I've had 3 losses, but I don't deserve this more than anyone and my heart hurts for my friends still trying. It's to the point where all the different posts on FB that say "in honor of mothe's day post blah blah blah" are just making me ragey and hormonal.

I just needed to get that off my chest somewhere safe where someone might understand.

  • Mother's Day is tough in so many ways.  It emphasizes those who have had luck with fertility over those who haven't.  It is a crappy day for those who had crappy moms, who have lost amazing moms, and who have lost children.  It is hard to even describe all of the categories of women who struggle on a day that praises women for the mere fact of motherhood.  So tough.  @nbcarlson
