How are things going with you? Pretty good minus the lack of sleep. I saw the sunrise at 3:15 again today...
Questions?
pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not? Both DH and I were pretty easy going but I hope more like me because I was easier
I've also seen home videos of myself but not of him so that might make it more real.
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you? Any day, doesn't matter. Most checkins aren't posted until afternoon/evening for me and I post this one in the morning, so it really doesn't matter.

How are things going with you? Still trying to get rid of this cold after a week. Still congested and can't taste anything. I have a standard heartbeat check appointment tomorrow with a doctor in the practice I haven't met yet.
Questions? Not right now. Starting to get some anxiety about taking care of LO. I've been doing lots of research on the actual birth, but I feel like now I need to focus on baby care, because time is flying by!
pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not? Yep! I was a pretty good kid. From my memory and from what my parents tell me, I was pretty easy going, and happy. Still am today. DH, however, was a TERROR! More as a teen, so that makes me nervous. Ha!
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you? Doesn't matter to me! I usually can only bump in the morning, since I sleep through the day, but I try to check in daily.

How are things going with you? Honestly, it feels like I'm swinging from one way to the other this week. I've had some minor issues with gagging (like brushing my teeth/ tongue) since the beginning, but the last few days my nausea has really been coming back at odd moments. And I had a soup yesterday with noodles, and I had to stop eating the noodles because I couldn't handle.. the texture, I guess? I barely got my allergy and prenatal pills down yesterday. I miss the last three weeks, where all I wanted to do was attack DH (in the best way possible, of course).
Questions?
pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not? I was pretty adventurous as a child, as I had two brothers and I was a hardcore tomboy. I hope both my kiddos keep the adventurous spirit. My mom kept promising me that if I had a girl, I would get what I deserved when she was a teen. Apparently, I was terrible. But, I remember my teens as a time when my mom was dealing with severe depression and PTSD, so I'm not sure she really has a fair point of view on the whole thing. Regardless, I hope both our sons have a mix of us- DH is laid back and athletic/ artsy. I'm more type A, but also a big outdoors person and reader.
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you? I'm good for any day, I don't have a preference!
ETA: @MrsVP614 Does your hospital/ birth center do a baby care class? We took one later in third tri. I had plenty of infant babysitting experience, but DH did not, and I think he really appreciated getting at least the basics ahead of time. They covered how to hold the baby, change diapers, swaddle, feeding cues, etc. Our also included CPR, which made it worth it for me.
Honestly, though, the most important part once you bring them home is this: That they've got clean diapers, clothes, food, and a nice snuggly set of arms/ crib/ PnP, etc, to sleep in. I know it seems terribly overwhelming, and it can be, especially when your sleep deprivation levels hit a high you've never known before. But once you have a routine, it will be fine. Babies are good at letting you know when something isn't right in their world.

But your message makes me feel much better and more prepared. I know there will be an instinct that comes with parenthood that'll make everything okay.

How are things going with you? This week has been pretty good. I've tried hard to no eat out as much. I'm still not cooking and eating everything I should, but it's better than I was eating. DH doesn't cook either ever! Feeling baby kick more and more. It's not very strong yet still. I woke up several times Tuesday night with excruciating pain in my right hip that continued all day yesterday. It's slightly better today but I'm worried about what is to come. @BigBadWolf12 I made a comment to DH the other day that I hate sleeping now. I have always loved sleeping and would never wake up in the middle of the night, but I hate the "process of sleeping" now because I can't do it.
Questions?
pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not? I do. I was a big tom-boy growing up and played sports year round and was constantly doing something. I think a part of that was my upbringing. My mom required that we be involved in something; sports, band, etc. Not all year round all the time, but most of the time. I am going to follow the same philosophy for the most part, especially at a young age because I think it helps develop social skills. You learn to take direction from people other than your parents, which later helps with jobs and life in general. DH and his kids were raised completely different. They have no structure and just do whatever they want (except at our house).
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you? I am good with any day.
@MrsVP614 I second what @ColoradoHiker said above. The basic needs are easy, though they seem overwhelming and I will admit with DS I wouldn't leave my house alone with with him until he was almost 1. I had a total fear/anxiety of being in public with a baby I couldn't handle. I'll admit part of my anxiety was due to my son's milk and soy intolerance, which resulted in constant screaming almost 18 hours a day. It was a rough first two years. But the only other advise I can offer is you'll know if something isn't correct with lo, it's more natural then you think. Be your babies advocate and don't always take the doctors word as final - research anytime you second guess them. Remembef too that no one can take care of that baby the way their mommy can!
How are things going with you?
Good, morning sickness back in full force this week. I guess I'll have 40 weeks of this, it's not terrible though it goes away as soon as I vomit. Had some really bad cramping all day yesterday which turned out to be gas - so now I'm caustious of what I'm eating.

Has it sunk in for anyone else that most of us have less than 100 days left until our babies are here!!!!
pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not?
ME! My husband always erred on the side of caution, he was the little boy always saying "I don't think we should do that" I was more free spirited, I wouldn't say wreckless but I'd give most things a try! My husband is brilliant though and a much harder worker, I hope my children get a bit of that as well.
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you?
Doesn't matter to me, most days are the same.

How are things going with you? Good! Reflux kicks my butt when I let too much time go by between meals but TUMS has been taking care of that. Baby has been pretty lazy the last few days so, I used the doppler last night for the first time in a while, just to make sure he's ok. Heartbeat was strong. He must've sensed that I was worried cuz he's been kicking up a storm today. I love it!

pregnancy GTKY: do you hope your child is like you were as a child? Why or why not?
I was always a mild-mannered kid whereas DH was a bit of a wild child that grew up to be super responsible and chill. I hope he takes after me as a child but grows up to be like his dad.
NBR GTKY: If we change the checkin day next week, what day(s) is/are best for you?
Any day works for me!

Since you know already that your DH may have tons of questions (which is normal btw, even for a worrier!), it may help to know that most ped centers have an after-hours emergency line for when your child is truly sick. Also, they usually have a nurse's line to call during the day. If you have a close friend or family member with young kids that you'd feel comfortable/ they wouldn't mind a midnight phone call, it never hurts to enlist them for less emergent situations. Side note: some of the ped centers around here charge if you call after hours, and don't come in for an appt within 24-48h. I think it's more of a major city thing, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for that when you're looking for a doctor for your LO.
