Re: Wednesday ticker change- 5/10
How big is baby? A Pomeranian? Or you know... the size of a baby.
Any appointments this week? Had my 38w yesterday and pushed back my c section to 40w so I have more time to go for a TOLAC.
Symptoms? Standard stuff. I am about 50% tums, 25% pee, 10% pineapple, and 15% aches and discomfort.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Super excited about moving back the cesarean date. Also the doc mentioned the head seemed quite low so hopefully some pressure will get my cervix going.
Progress made or plans for baby preparation? I feel about as ready as I am going to get. I have stuff set aside for a toddler go bag but haven;t actually bagged it. I should do that but otherwsie I think I'm set.
GTKY: What are a few items you bought or were gifted that you think will be most useful for the baby? Very excited to have a reclining glider for this kid. Last time we had a glider and ottoman and I was never able to snooze upright. And honestly I think the new water table we got for the toddler is going to be my big sanity saver for the first few months.
May '17 labor memes
How big is baby? a watermelon.
Any appointments this week? Had one this morning... no dilation whatsoever, which was discouraging but not a surprise at all. My doctor recommended taking castor oil and plenty of sex to get contractions going. Never thought I'd hear the doc actually recommend home remedies, but here we are. So, I made another appointment for 41 weeks where they'll do a sono to check on fluids and the like. Induction's scheduled for May 23rd, but I hope this kiddo shows up on her own (without castor oil) before then.
Symptoms? BH contractions are starting to get more intense and frequent, peeing a lot, and heartburn. Oooh the heartburn. There's basically no more room left in my abdomen, so baby's head is super low AND her butt/legs are under my ribs. But overall, I feel surprisingly good for 40 weeks. Tying my shoes is a pain though.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Just working from home today, though I don't have much "work" left to do. I might go in anyway tomorrow and Friday, but I think some of my coworkers are more nervous about me being there past my EDD than I am.
Progress made or plans for baby preparation? Ugh, we still need to pick a name, and I think I need a little more mental preparation for childbirth. But we've got a bassinet, carseat, diapers, and a boatload of onesies from my sister's daughter, so we're set with the stuff. The actual nursery will be completed... sometime... later? We have a crib, dresser, and bookshelf, but I want to put a rocking chair and a side table in there and hang some art on the walls.
GTKY: What are a few items you bought or were gifted that you think will be most useful for the baby I'm hoping that at least one of the 4 types of baby carriers that we have will be useful. We now have a solly wrap (bought), ktan (hand-me-down), ring sling (gifted), and a boba carrier (gifted). I also bought a "2nd" breastpump, because my insurance will take a few weeks to process my request and ship one after the baby's born, and some x-small flanges from maymom (TMI? my twin sis recommended them because apparently we have small nipples), so I'm hoping that will be useful if I don't decide it's a torture device.
How big is baby? The size of a pumpkin.
Any appointments this week? 38 week appointment yesterday and doctor wouldn't check for any progress since I haven't been having contractions. GBS test was done yesterday.
Symptoms? Insomnia and not being able to get comfortable while sleeping.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm a little upset that for weeks my doctor has been so certain that I won't make it to my due date, and then yesterday he said he thinks I will go past it. I know there's no way to tell for certain when baby will come, but I was really looking forward to having a baby before 5/24. Now I'm struggling with if I keep working past next week or not.
Progress made or plans for baby preparation? Having my shower this weekend and thinking that baby was going to come early definitely kicked things into high gear this weekend. DD's bag is packed and at my mom's. My bag is packed and MH's clothes are in there too. We got all of the baby stuff put away. We are ready!
GTKY: What are a few items you bought or were gifted that you think will be most useful for the baby? I'm very excited about my Covered Goods nursing cover and my Boppy. I'm not shy about nursing in public, but it would be nice to not have my back fully exposed when I need to lift my shirt up.
How many weeks old is baby? One week old today
Any medical appointments/updates for baby or mom this week? He had an appt on Sunday, down 4 ounces since birth which is really good
Questions, concerns, updates, etc. concerning feeding/weight gain? He's feeding really well. Still working on engorgement and getting it all regulated but hopefully will get better
Questions, concerns, updates, etc. concerning sleeping or other symptoms for both baby & mom? He's a good sleeper which is such a relief. We've both been able to get good chunks.
Rants/raves/questions?
GTKY: What are a few items you bought or were gifted that you're finding most useful for the baby? we use our big Tula blankets everyday (the same as the Aden ones). They are so big and soft, we are able to get nice tight swaddles.
