Remind us, why are you high risk? AMA and hypothyroid
Appointments this week? none, I go at the end of the month to regular ob and then get referred to high-risk dr.
Any questions for the group? not yet, just a gripe that the Dr. doesn't like my thyroid TSH levels, so she told me to take an extra half a pill of synthroid 3x week and will re-test bloodwork at the end of the month to see if things change. I hope I can get my levels figured out soon.
What is your favorite dessert? I'm lactose intolerant when i'm not pregnant, but I learned my last pregnancy that my body can tolerate dairy when I'm preggo, so now I want all the ice cream!
Remind us, why are you high risk? Pituitary issues, hypoglycemia, scoliosis (which complicated my last delivery), and asthma (which my new OB considers a risk factor)
Appointments this week? Just had my first appointment yesterday and LO looked great with a strong heartbeat. Have lots of bloodwork to get completed this week, it may take two trips to get the 8-9 vials they need since I've had my blood sugar crash for giving 5 vials before. Ugh
Any questions for the group? None yet, but I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Anyone going to MFM Dr yet? I should have my NT screening with them and not sure what to expect. Is it just like the regular OB?
What is your favorite dessert?
Ice Cream, although I'm lactose intolerant. I'll totally deal with the symptoms to have some Blue Bell!
How far along? 8+4.
Remind us why you are high risk? High blood pressure, AMA. I also had a stillbrth due to Trisomy 18 @23 weeks 15 months ago.
Appointments? Had my appointment yesterday with my OB. Blood pressure is normal with the addition of medication. So I won't see her again til June 7th. Really hope to hear a heartbeat at that appointment. I will be doing the harmony test May 25th or 26th.
Questions? No
Favourite dessert? Cake or ice cream.
@scoassin I'm 39! I was 36 with my son and didn't even know I was AMA until delivery, so apparently not much changes except insurance pays for more tests. At least that was my experience in Chicago, but most Mom's are AMA in Chicago:)
How far along?
6+4
Remind us why you are high risk? I am high risk due to AMA and a loss at 20 weeks in January, also my HCG levels are sketchy this go around.
Appointments? I had a blood draw Monday and my levels didn't double in 5 days. I have an ultrasound at 8 weeks
Questions? My Dr is doing an ultrasound at 8 weeks. That is 2 weeks away and since my due date for the baby we lost is quickly approaching (May 20) I'm having so much anxiety. Is it appropriate to ask for the ultrasound to be moved up to 7 weeks, which is next week? I don't want to be 'that' patient but I'm totally that patient right now. We're in the process of moving, due date and Mothers Day are all coming up so I'd rather know sooner than later if this pregnancy is not viable. Any advice?
Favorite Dessert? Creme Brûlée
Remind us, why are you high risk? Diabetes, gastric bypass
Appointments this week? I had my first OB on Wednesday
Any questions for the group? Not yet!
What is your favorite dessert?anything with fruit. Or ranch dressing. I seem to want to put that on EVERYTHING.

- had my first appointment with high risk this week. Had my second ultrasound. Baby is measuring a day ahead but, everything else looked "beautiful" (as the dr said lol). HR was 125.
Any questions for the group?
- none at this point. Still in disbelief that I'm actually pregnant. I was told due to my treatment for my rare condition that I would never be able to conceive. But, here I am. My dream has came true!
What is your favorite dessert?
-probably ice cream. However, I have been craving pineapple cream cheese cake.
Remind us, why are you high risk? Overweight, borderline diabetic, PCOS.
Appointments this week? Not until the 24th. At my first OB appointment last week I found out I get to do the glucose test twice. The first time at 16 weeks I believe. Not looking forward to it
Any questions for the group? Not that I can think of
What is your favorite dessert? Brownies with ice cream
@KathrynJ088 I don't have to go see the MFM until I'm 18 weeks. I'm not sure what it's like for everyone, but here's what it's like for me. (Since I went there for my last pregnancy too.)
The hospital my OB and delivery is, does not have an MFM on site. So an MFM comes over two days a week from another local hospital. There is a very small MFM area in our hospital; a very small waiting room, two consultation rooms, and an US room. We simply go in, sign the clipboard, and wait.
The first visit the nurse weighs you and asks some questions, and then the doctor sits and consults about why you are there. This only happened my first visit. Most people go for specialized US, so after the first visit, you don't need a consultation... you just sign in and go straight to an US.
The US machine is more high tech, and there is an US tech and doc that do everything. The doc is in the room the whole time (at the OB, the doc only comes into the US room if there's a problem.) The tech does the US, measurements, looks for what they're looking for, etc. and then the doctor goes back behind them and does everything again to double check. Then they tell you what all they've found, schedule you to come back whenever they need you, and you leave.
It can take a long time there, even if your specific appointment doesn't, because others in front of you could have a hard case the doctor needs to take more time on. You might also see women coming out of the US room crying and upset. I just thought I'd warn you, because the first time that happened with me and DH it scared us a bit.
Hope that helps!
