    1. I'm trying to get in my pregnancy groove, but this cold and unexpected move have put a bit of a wrench in my plans. I'm tabling organized workouts for the moment (even though I love them!) and am just focusing on: a daily walk, listening to my pregnancy affirmations, and fueling myself with good food (focusing on quality not quantity since I'm so dang hungry right now!).

    2. I don't know if it's real or psychosomatic, but I always seem to lose my sweet tooth while pregnant, and luckily first tri nausea hasn't set in yet, so it's been a great eating week. I love listening to my pregnancy affirmations and have been walking at least 30 minutes a day while listening to them.

    3. Meal planning! And giving myself permission to not pack every minute, a walk is key for my mental health!

    4. Anyone have any pregnancy fitness programs they love?  I have some that I enjoy, but it's a long 9 months so I always like switching it up a little!

    5. Haven't changed too much, other than I KNOW I need to make flossing more of a priority ASAP!

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now?
Eating super healthy, getting 10k steps most days, and trying to re-start a workout program. I have been really into Beachbody workouts (but not Shakeo) and I'm thinking I'll do P90X3 for the next few months (if I start today, I'll finish at 18 weeks)

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with?
Win: I ate super healthy all week! Barely any cravings for sweets - @KatieEl maybe I also will lose my sweettooth (I'm a choc-aholic) while pregnant!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week?
Go to bed early so that when the alarm goes off for morning workouts I am refreshed enough to do get up and not press snooze!

    4. Questions for the group?
Any other group members doing any Beachbody workouts? I've done P90X3, T25, 21DF, 21DFX... always love a virtual workout buddy.

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP?
I am about 10 lbs. overweight and was trying to lose those 10 lbs. before the BFP, and of course now I won't be trying to lose any.
  • @KatieEl my sweet tooth disappears during pregnancy as well! Usually comes back late in the third tri.

    1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Eating as many veggies as possible (dark and leafy) before the nausea and food aversions hit.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? My thyroid blood work is back "in range" this week. Not exactly a healthy habit I can control, but I'm super happy about it and less worried.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Meal plan!

    4. Questions for the group? How do you handle healthy meals for the family if you struggle from all day sickness?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? Haven't changed too much yet. I'm still somewhat active and have always been a healthy eater. Trying to keep the healthy eating up because soon I won't want to.

@saraterp3 I love beach body workouts! I've been doing them since the original p90 back in 2004! I hope you'll forgive a little unsolicited advice, but you may want to meet with a pelvic floor physiotherapist if you plan on doing p90x (or any of their high intensity programs) while pregnant, just to get cleared first. In my last pregnancy I ran until 28 weeks and did HIIT until 31 weeks and it weakened my pelvic floor so much that I suffered a stage two uterine prolapse post partum. It took 5 months to rehab that, and while I'm fine now and didn't need surgery I wasn't able to do anything but light Pilates and gentle walking, which was really hard mentally. You may be fine, but it doesn't hurt to get checked!

@jakobaby I know that all day nausea is coming! I try to prep a bunch of freezer meals for dinner while I'm feeling good, and make sure that we're stocked up with easy meals my husband can throw together. I default to a lot of convienence foods: pre cooked chicken, pre cut veg, etc that I can make quick salads or wraps for the family with. I'd love to hear everyone else's tips too!

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Really trying to eat healthy and get plenty of protein- as well as drink plenty of water!

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? Kept up with my running routine even though I was exhausted from my night shifts.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Meal prep! (Try to...
  • It didn't post the rest of mine for some reason...

    4. Questions for the group? Anyone in a prenatal yoga class?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? I have still been running about 5x a week but have reduced my strength training some- I find that by the time I get to that I am so much more exhausted than usual! Trying to listen to my body.

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Just eating good for me foods and staying away from the junk, but not beating myself up if I have one indulgence.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? My water intake has been awesome!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? I'm liking the ideas of meal prep. I've been packing snack foods for work but think something prepped other than salads with baked chicken might be more fun.

    4. Questions for the group? For STM. What's are the exercised that you did that you believed really prepared you for giving birth?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? I was a yo yo dieter and had an all or nothing mentality which was really unhealthy. Now I'm just trying to keep everything healthy and don't beat myself up if there is a slip up here and there.
  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Trying to work out at least 2x a week, maybe 3, and drinking lots of water.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? worked out twice even though I really didn't feel like it.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Not quite sure.. I may need to find a different workout since I usually do HIIT.

    4. Questions for the group? Not right now!

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? More water for sure, and like I mentioned above, I'm probably going to have to find a different workout from everything I've read about HIIT during pregnancy.

@madcouplewithabox it's kind of a boring answer, but I really feel like all the parts of a balanced program prepared me: yoga kept me comfortable throughout pregnancy, cardio prepared my endurance, strength training helped with deep squats and strength for labor, and belly dancing was (fun!) and how I got my babies out.  My doula joked that I danced them down.

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? I am trying to cut out caffeine and significantly decrease my extra sugar intake.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? Since I just found out about my baby on board, it has only been a couple days. However, yesterday was my first full day without caffeine and no pain pills for the lingering headache...yet.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? I purchased some Tylenol, since I am normally an advil taker.  I also plan on make a grocery run tomorrow to stay on track.

    4. Questions for the group? Is anyone else trying to completely cut out caffeine (versus sticking to the minimal allowance)?  Any advice?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP?  I am way more aware of what goes into my body, everything I eat I second guess and find myself researching first.  Like beef jerky... who knew it was so controversial????

@TInman87 I did a homestudy hynobabies course with DS1 (as well as a more traditional birth class), and one of the tracks that came with the program was Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations.  It doesn't look like you can purchase it individually, but it is part of a smaller bundle (e.g. not the whole course) if you're interested: https://www.hypnobabies-store.com/All_MP3s-Easy_Pregnancy_6-track_MP3_Discount_Bundle.html

  • @TInman87 I cut down on caffeine while we were TTC out first, and didn't have any during 1st tri. It was a little easier to quit since I had already cut back, but this time with a baby who won't sleep much, I need my coffee so I have the minimal allowance, maybe a little less. I realize that's not super helpful, but I did it before and survived(barely)!

    1. Getting fresh air, eating healthier foods and veggies before nausea hits! Definitely cutting down on caffeine, used to be a 2-3 cup type of girl, down to one small cup a day! I love my green tea so I will be switching to that soon (less caffeine!)

    2. Just finding out that we're pregnant! FTM here :)

    3. Leaving positive stickies on my bathroom mirror! Stressing and worrying, trying to stop because poppyseed doesn't need that!

    4. Questions for the group? Not yet!

    5. GTKY: going to up my yoga practice to everyday,  looking forward to an at home prenatal practice!

@KatieEl That is awesome! Dancing the babies out! I'm going to have to remember that come January:p

  • 1. Healthy habits - I am trying to be healthy as a whole. So mentally and physically. I used to be in really good shape and I would run and swim several miles in one day, a couple days a week. This last year I got married and we bought a house and my DH switched jobs. I put on "the married 15" as I like to call it and gradually faded away from crazy workouts because I spend my downtime with my hubs relaxing. Recently we've both been trying to find a happy medium to be more active and it's rough seeing how quickly I lost my endurance.

    2. My win would be not coming home and sitting on the couch immediately. If I come home and do that it's all over for the night. I was able to come home and spend some time chasing our puppy outside which is something.

    3. Better planning is in my future. If I do my food shopping on Sunday I can meal prep for the week and it will help keep me away from nachos!

    4. Questions- has anyone or is anyone going to try some of the wives tales for determining the sex? I did the ring test and apparently it said girl.

    5. I am hoping to start yoga classes and up my walking. I got a 15lb weight bar that I use to curl and squat..I just don't know how long I'll keep it up. I really want to be healthy and active but not stressed on any one thing.
  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now?
Cutting way down on fast food, increasing water intake, and cutting down on soda (eventually want to cut it out but know I can't do cold turkey), and continuing regular exercise. My co-worker and i usually run together and take a couple of walk breaks during the day. We're not going to run anymore because we're both kind of burnt out but we're going to increase our walks and start strength training again.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with?
We only ate out a couple of times this weekend which for us is amazing. We typically eat out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every weekend. Bad for our budget and waistlines!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week?
Meal plan and maybe leave my wallet at home when I go to work. It's so easy to grab breakfast on the way into work (like I did this morning) or sometimes I'll decide I don't want what I brought for lunch and I'll run out and grab fast food but if I don't have my wallet, I can't eat out.

    4. Questions for the group?
    None yet.

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP?
Before my BFP I was trying to lose weight (and failing hard) but obviously, I won't be trying to do that anymore. I am going to try to keep weight gain to a minimum though. I'm not overweight but I am on the higher end of what's healthy for my height.
  • Tagging wasn't really working for me today  :(

@madcouplewithabox  I ran throughout my pregnancy—even 7 miles the day I gave birth. I’m a runner, so I just stuck with what I was doing. I’m not sure it helped me in labor, but it definitely helped me recover more quickly. I had a long labor (37 hours!) and a 4th degree tear (forceps baby), yet I was still back to running before six weeks postpartum. I know it’s because I stayed fit throughout my nine months.

    @rachelg777 I’m a runner too  :)

@schaze I think if your body is acclimated to HIIT, you will likely have no trouble keeping it up. That said, I’m curious about what you read about it. I guess it depends on how “I” the HIIT are lol. My doctor last pregnancy approved my 50+ miles a week running!

@Tlnman87 WOW! You had NO caffeine? I seriously admire you and really would love to get there. I’m trying to stay at 150 mgs right now. So I do not have advice but really want to try to cut it out entirely. I took 100 mgs today, so I may start tomorrow…

@baby_is_coming Baby steps! You’ll get that endurance back gradually and then forget it was ever gone!

    1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? I am focusing on sleeping well, keeping as active as ever, and trying to eat enough protein…

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? I cooked on Sunday and had healthy, protein meals to pack all last week… but ummm that did not happen yesterday!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Try to pull a Sunday tonight and make meals tonight for the rest of the week (if DD lets me!).

    4. Questions for the group? I need to get my anxiety re: loss/blighted ovum/etc under control. It isn’t healthy and really messes with my mind etc. It can take me to a really dark place. I know I’ll feel better if I see a HB but I don’t go to the doctor until May 17th and am not sure they will do an US. I just hate this anxiousness… anyone have good tips? PS Running 5-10 miles has not helped… and I just can’t with yoga…

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? I’m not quite there yet (need to see that heartbeat), but I loved when I was pregnant with DD that I cared to eat nutritious foods. It felt so empowering!

    1. I'm focused on eating more "real" foods, less junky, processed snacks. I also need to start moving more and maybe start practicing yoga again? I need an easier pregnancy and delivery this go round!

    2. No wins, just got the BFP this morning

    3. I'm going to track religiously and really pay attention to my nutrition. I'm pretty overweight, I'd like to gain no more than 15 lbs this time.

    4. Any tried and true healthy, filling dinner recipes? Oh! Also, I broke my leg last May and had to give up running. Think it's safe to pick it back up? Slowly of course.

    5. Well, I guess I need to cancel my weight watchers membership...

    1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? I am trying to make better food choices this week. I have been dieting forever and the week I found out I was pregnant I went completely off the wagon. I gained 7 lbs! I'm pretty sure it is mostly bloat, but still. Decided I better get back to my meal prepping / tracking routine this week, but I won't restrict myself if I get hungry.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? I stopped caffeine cold turkey! I had one bad headache the first day and since then it has been all good.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Planning a head and sticking to my plan. I am terrible about either not making a plan and then eating badly or making a plan and then not "feeling" like eating what I planned.

    4. Questions for the group? I have been walking pretty regularly for a while now, but not doing any other exercise. I would love some suggestion on stuff that would be safe for me to do to help strengthen my core.

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? Not much so far. I am just being gentle with myself and taking it easy.

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Eating healthy. Up until I got my BFP I was eating low carb, but now I'm trying to switch to a more balanced diet. I also want to start a prenatal yoga routine.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? Well I worked out 5 times last week despite the nausea, so that's a win!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? I'm going to pre-pack lunches the night before and research a prenatal yoga classes.

    4. Questions for the group? At what point do you think it would be acceptable for me to start taking a prenatal yoga class in public? Since I'm only 5 weeks, I'm worried it may be "too soon" so i'd be better of doing yoga at home for awhile until I'm future along.

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? Well I was actually trying to loose weight prior to my BFP. I was a few pounds over weight and thought it would improve my chances of conceiving. Now my goal is to eat healthy and not gain weight too quickly.

    1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now?
Getting my eating back on track. I'm usually a meal planner/prepper, and eat REALLY clean during the week (not so much on the weekends...haha). But a LOT of emotionally trying "stuff" has been going on lately, and food becomes my comfort during hard times. I made my meal plan for the week, and am heading to the grocery store after work, so today is my fresh start!

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with?
Like @KatieEl, sugar tends to be an aversion for me while pregnant (the same was true during my last pregnancy), so I'm avoiding the treats. I also stuck to my healthy morning green smoothie every day last week (and this morning), so I'm getting LOTS of healthy greens down. I'm hoping I can keep this up, because my past pregnancy taught me that salad, and anything resembling it quickly becomes an aversion for me. Hopefully I can get my greens down in smoothie form!

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week?
    Like many PP's, meal planning!

    4. Questions for the group?
    Not at this time.

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changed since getting that BFP?
While I'm a pretty clean eater, my workout routine really declined after DD was born. I have tried to get back into a routine, but working full time and having a 16 month old has REALLY shifted my priorities, and I don't work out nearly as much as I should. I'm going to try to go on a walk/run at least a few times a week, and re-introduce some strength training/ yoga. I'm not going to go crazy because I know this is not the time to introduce an intense workout program. I'm going to slowly ease back into my old lifestyle. Fingers crossed I can stick to it!
  • Started P90X3 today with some awesome sweaty cardio. It felt great except for when I jogged and my boobs hurt :(
  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now?
Cutting back on caffeine and added sugar. Getting more exercise, drink more water.

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with?
Down to one cup of coffee a day. I am struggling with being more active (I'm so tired), I also hate eating breakfast so its a hard habit for me to get into.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week?
Keep a bottle of water at my desk, make a breakfast smoothie before bed so its in the fridge and ready to go.

    4. Questions for the group?
Any quick and easy breakfast and lunch ideas?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP?
I am much more aware of the things I need to change.

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Trying to eat good . With my last pregnancy I puked every single day for 9 months :( ... and all I wanted was fast food because I felt hung over . I gained the standard 45 lbs , but lost 75 over the last 10 months because something just clicked in my body .. ( I didn't change anything from how I ate /worked out before I got ku)

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? ... well the win will happen today ... grocery hall so I have easy healthy things to grab . I need to get into the groove of eating a good breakfast now , because when morning sickness hits in the next couple weeks it's game over if I don't eat every 1-2 hrs

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? Food prep! Just cut up veggies fruits etc so they are easy to grab , instead of the chips popcorn etc :)

    4. Questions for the group?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/ They are the same right now , but as soon as I start feeling bad ( who knows maybe it will be different , fingers crossed ) it's just trying to stay one the semi healthy train :)

@Cauleyflower, I mentioned this in the "What My Pregnant Self is Eating" thread, but I figured I'd add it here too!
I make a green smoothie for breakfast every morning. It keeps me full, and is a good way to get my greens in each day. For lunch, I eat leftovers. I make sure to double my recipe every night so DH and I have lunch for the next day.
  • @cauleyflower I typically bring a variety of things to work for breakfast/lunch, although lunch is usually leftovers from the night before. I tend to always bring full fat Greek yogurt with berries for a mid-morning boost. This past weekend I made a bunch of paleo waffles and froze them to toast at work with berries or syrup. I've been adding baby spinach and tomato to my chicken salad wraps and I've also been bringing a kale salad to work each day (it's one of those packaged salads from Costco and it is awesome).

  • @darkrose88 I think you are fine starting ASAP. First, the instructor will be trained to help women at every stage of the pregnancy but second (and more importantly, I think), you’ll probably meet a bunch of IRL mamas to be and have an awesome support system! I actually hate yoga but if the pregnancy is confirmed viable, I might look for a weekly prenatal yoga class just to make friends lol. But I'm also a strong believer in women enjoying and indulging in EVERYTHING positive they can during their pregnancy. I don't care what anyone says, when you are pregnant, you are the most important person in the universe and deserve everything indulgent  :)

  • 1. What healthy habit(s) are you focusing on right now? Eating healthy & within limits, walking 6K steps a day, exercise 3x/wk

    2. What was a "win" from the past week? Any areas you're struggling with? I made cauliflower fried rice for dinner last night and I turned out good! (I thought. H doesn't like veggies much & eyed it suspiciously. DS yelled "I DONT WANT RICE" so yeah.) The struggle bus is full of lovely beautiful coffee.

    3. What will you do to make it easier to achieve your goals this week? This is really a kick in the butt to get in better shape while I can.

    4. Questions for the group? What's your favorite quick weeknight dinner?

    5. GTKY: How have your health/fitness goals changes since getting that BFP? H and I just committed to diet & exercise together about 3 weeks ago. So I'm in a pretty good place going into this, considering.

@bainidhedub We always do Taco Tuesday. I've been doing taco salads the last few weeks with veggies and avocado. Yum!

  • @Cauleyflower - for breakfast i've been eating Amy's breakfast burritos lately, because I can't eat a lot of eggs and I recently got REAL sick of my green berry smoothies.

@bainidhedub and others looking for delicious and quick dinners - we also do taco tuesday with a meat, avocado, corn tortillas and cheese. another go-to quick dinner is oregano chicken: https://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/baked-oregano-chicken/0bb8a4ac-c229-4c9b-bbbe-75b07cacdbca which i usually pair with green beans and a carb (potatoes or rice)

  • @EmilyLove25 I love that thought process! I totally think women should be treated as VIP's while pregnant.  I think I'll wait until after viability is confirmed and then I'll join a prenatal yoga program. I actually enjoy yoga and it would be nice to have some pg friends IRL!
  • @EmilyLove25 re: your anxiety comment, I am not sure this will help you (I think it is really about the individual), but I have a few cognitive things that have helped me as a PGAL and in life in general. They are pretty direct comments, so please take/leave whatever is helpful to you (it's easier for me some days than others) and please note it's well-intended. 1) Anxiety isn't productive. It literally doesn't help anything. More worrying doesn't increase the likelihood of anything going right (especially when it comes to pregnancy). I remind myself of this when it's all adding up and sometimes I'm able to cognitively push aside the anxiety for awhile. 2) Act out of authenticity, not anxiety. For me, this is all about being my true, vulnerable self. I'd rather give myself all in to a pregnancy (even if it doesn't end the way I'd like) than to try to control my feelings about it. What kind of expectant mom do I truly want to be? yada yada... ;) I know I'll never regret "following my heart" but would regret letting anxiety ruin some of the best stages (plus again, I don't think it helps protect me from anything). 3) You mentioned not loving yoga (I feel that way about meditation - just. can't. do it.), but one thing that somehow helps me is legs up the wall pose. I do it before bed sometimes for about 5-10 minutes (no smartphone nearby) and it eases a lot of the physical tension, which helps me sleep. Falling asleep is the hardest for me when I'm anxious. 4) Breathing exercises. In for 8, hold for 7, out for 4. There are lots of variations to that to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, but it's what works for me. Hope any of those things might speak to you!

@darkrose88 I agree with others. I think you should be able to start prenatal courses whenever you'd like. Yoga is all about non-judgment, so if anyone is snarky at the studio, I'd take that as a cue to find another one! I agree it would be super fun to have some new friends in this stage. Great idea!

Some of you girls amaze me with all of your meal prep, leftovers, etc.!
