I am going to ask my doc. With DD, some of the bloodwork taken at the NT scan came back with elevated risks, that did end up being negative. I would like the peace of mind from a more conclusive test.
Absolutely. I did it with my first pregnancy, and I'll do it this time. The tests came back clear for our first child, but of course those tests can't test for everything. Just the most common genetic syndromes and diseases. As it turned out, our son had CHARGE syndrome, and he didn't make it. We want to be prepared next time, so we're testing for every genetic syndrome the non-invasive test can pick up, plus we're doing chorionic villus sampling to test for CHARGE.
A lot of people think NIPT is only for people who want to abort if there is a problem. But if your child will have special medical needs, and you will not abort, you want to be prepared. You want to give birth in a hospital with a level four NICU and specialists on hand who specialize in their disease. Trust me.
I see my doctor in 11 days (who is counting?) and she mentioned she'll offer me tests since just before LO arrives I'll be 35. I'll definitely do one of them. I did the Trans Nuc at 13 weeks with DD and found it very helpful. For me, more information is always better (helps direct my anxiety lol)... which is why right now is so awful! All I have are these pee sticks!!!
I'm planning on doing this. It's non invasive and it will be my first line of testing. I'm 36 and considered AMA so my insurance will cover it. If anything turns up, we will prob do amnio. I would like to be prepared when this little snowflake comes along : )
