@PizzaMonster3 I wish I could say that I was taking it in good spirits. I'm fine now but I was an emotional wreck earlier. Normally I would just be annoyed. My chest was tight and I started crying. I don't cry. But good news is, I found out today that we're getting a quarterly bonus at work so PROBLEM SOLVED.

@TallMomma29 I too did not know about the second shower thing until I joined TB. But then again, I don't think I ever gave it much thought. Honestly, I don't care either way.

  • @jesssssrg and @jessdg ok you guys just made me feel much better! A lot of our clothes actually get washed, but if we don't immediately fold them then we put them in a corner. Then the dogs think we made a fancy bed for them made out of clothes, and the cycle starts over.  :D

@bluejeanbabi05 oh man I know it's ridiculous! If you have the time and patience, IKEA isn't a bad option.

  • @chocolateislife I would literally rather spend $1000 then have to be anywhere within a ten mile radius of an IKEA  :D

  •  :D  @bluejeanbabi05 fair enough!!! I'm a big fan of IKEA and their Swedish meatballs. I can only go on off days/times though, otherwise I will have a panic attack from all the people.

  • @megggosaurusrex I'm jealous. I stopped getting acrylic nails a few months ago after wearing them for a few years. I've been waiting for my natural nails to strengthen back up before getting a manicure and they are finally in a good place but I've been just way too lazy to go and get them done.
  • edited May 2017
@dumbledoredies I did the same thing. I was shocked by how bad of shape my nails were in after. I miss having nice nails but I hate the thought of going back to weak nails and being chained to a $60/every two weeks bill

    eta words

  • @bluejeanbabi05 @dumbledoredies have you ladies tried shellac or gelish manis? The polish lasts 2-3 weeks and they don't destroy your nails. More expensive than a regular mani but I think worth the effort.

  • @wittyacronym yep! I used to get shellac on my acrylics because it didn't dull like normal polish.

@bluejeanbabi05 same! I miss having nice looking nails but I love not having to go in every 2-3 weeks to get them done. And it's nice to save that extra money. I decided to do it because I used to play the piano and I wanted to get back into it but really couldn't with long nails. I've sat down and played like.. 5 times since lol. So kind of pointless. It was horrible when I first got them off because my nails were so weak that they kept ripping into my skin. I had to wear so many bandaids.
  • @ChocolateIsLife ooooffff I would be fuming if anything like that came out of my DH or relative's mouth. Unless you are my doctor or doula, do not give me medical advice or question what I am ingesting.
I hope your headache clears up!
  • @ChocolateIsLife omg. I would rip him a new one. NO ONE, not even dh, is allowed to lecture me about what medication I take while pregnant. Dh gets concerned over the things I take for my headaches and migraines, but he knows if he values his life, to leave me be. Plus, my OB, who has known me and my history for 6 years, is aware and ok'd it all.

If Tylenol doesn't help, try Excedrin tension. It's just acetaminophen and caffeine and helps with my frequent headaches. If you dont mind taking meds while pregnant, I can recommend more options, approved by my OB, of course ;)
  • DH actually lectured me about taking ibuprofen early in this pregnancy and I was all snobby and said "I took it while I was pregnant last time and our kid turned out just fine!" Then at my appointment my OB was going over the dos and donts and told me not take ibuprofen. I honestly don't remember that with DS so now I am not sure if I really did take it with him. Of course DH was there and gave me his "I told you so look."

I am working all weekend and won't be off until 11:30 tonight. My bedtime is 9:00 lately so I am not sure how I am going to hang. I have been having non stop headaches which is making life super fun.

Also I don't care at all if people have second showers. I actually would prefer people who do that then the people who have 3 or 4 showers for their first, like who in the hell do you think you are lol.

@nbcarlson oh gosh yes, I feel you on the 9pm bedtime. Sorry you have to work so late, with a headache on top of that!

i know about the risks with most over the counter meds because the fertility clinic I used for IVF made a huge deal about it, and had a required class beforehand, but they, as well as OB have made sure to tell me that Tylenol is safe.

I feel like im just getting to a point in this pregnancy where I'm not obsessing and anxious about everything I'm doing being "wrong", so his unsolicited fear mongering about taking Tylenol really put a bitter taste in my mouth.

  • @nbcarlson my OB's "approved list" says to "avoid aspirin and ibuprofen". But my OB told me to go ahead and take up to 600mg at a time for my headaches if it usually helps me. But not to after I enter the third trimester. So I've done that a few times and it's helped.

@ChocolateIsLife I'm glad the Tylenol is helping! I always get horrible, almost daily headaches until 20ish weeks with all my pregnancies, unfortunately. It sucks because they'll only tell you Tylenol or Excedrin tension, otherwise you're SOL. But in reality, you do have more options, they just don't like to tell you until you push back a ton. At least that's the case with my OB office. Lesson I've learned through 5 pregnancies and finally starting to advocate for myself
  • @chocolateislife and everyone, I completely agree about Tylenol concern being fearmongering. All of my doctors have made a point to tell me to take Tylenol if I need it and not to be a hero. The only crappy part is tylenol does fuck all for me. I miss ibuprofen.

@wittyacronym the gel polish works great on acrylics when I have them, but I peel it right off my normal nails lol. I've tried 58472626 different brands. My nails are my biggest first world problem and it's all my fault because I pick at them constantly. I just end up with bare nails most of the time unless I have some kind of event, when I just throw a coat of polish on. I can't have nice things.

  • @ChocolateIsLife @nbcarlson I had an agonizing headache during week 9 and took 1 extra strength Tylenol (the dosage is 2) and coincidentally that night I ended up in the ER with some unexplained vaginal bleeding so hubby basically forbid me from ever taking Tylenol again because he swore that's why I started bleeding. He even had the nerve to tell on me to the ER doc. Thankfully the doc looked at him like he was crazy and reassured him that Tylenol is safe and that the bleeding was totally unrelated to it

I have been taking my vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) daily and the only day I had a headache was Friday when I forgot to take it until hours after I normally do. I've also been upping my water intake so it could be either of those factors.

  • I ended up back at urgent care this weekend and walked away crying with a z pack after a long lecture from the doctor about how I shouldn't fill it.

However,  he lost credibility with me when he a) insinuated I was a horrible mother who only wanted a prescription b) told me to take 2 meds that,  if he had bothered to read my chart,  I'm allergic to c) I've been sick and throwing up since Tuesday yet told me I need to be sick for longer before they'll do anything for me d) told me it was morning sickness and acid reflux.

Sure.  Morning sickness 24/7 for 5 days straight, hacking up phlegm, no voice,  chills,  wheezing coughs,  aching body,  loose stools.

Totally sounds like morning sickness you dbag.

@natleilynn You poor thing! You fill that prescription and get better!

  • @natleilynn I'm sorry you had to deal with such an asshat. I've had such bad experiences with ER docs lately too, it's so frustrating. Yep, because we just love to pay a huge co-pay just to get a script for $5 meds  :|

I hope you feel better soon, sounds so miserable :(
  • I also hate that we can only take Tylenol. Advil has always worked better for me in the past. I've taken Tylenol a few times for headaches since being pregnant, and it's helped, but not as much as I think Advil or Eleve would have.
  • @dajocl @sjohns908 you better believe I filled it.  I mean,  if he had listened to my concerns and been able to explain everything as due to morning sickness,  fine.  But he looked at or symptom and brushed everything up to that.  I was sick every day for 3 months with DD and it never caused any throat/ lung issues.

I seriously don't even know why some proteome become doctors.

  • Like many of you ladies, I've taken Advil or Excedrin for headaches prior to pregnancy.  Tylenol does jack squat for my headaches.  I'm trying to be more vigilant with my water intake and that has helped curb some headaches.
This might sound a little hippy-dippy, I will rub peppermint oil on the places on my head where I feel the headache (temples, forehead, base of the skull, etc).  I keep a small bottle of it in my nightstand and a roller of it in my purse.  I do this when I've maxed out on my Tylenol intake for the day and it does help.

Ugh @natleilynn I'm sorry that you've had to deal with that BS.  I hope you feel better soon.

  • @sjohns908 thanks! The tylenol definitely took the edge off, but the headache is very much still there.

@bluejeanbabi05 I think I have been lucking out with Tylenol working (somewhat) for me. It used to do nothing when I had cramps, but so far it has helped with a toothache and somewhat with headaches. I have that same issue with shellac. I end up peeling off within a day. I'd rather spend money and get a pedi anyways.

@winterecho that is some shitty timing to have the ER visit after taking it! I'm glad the doc reiterated to your husband that it wasn't related!

@natleilynn I'm so sorry you had to deal with such an asshole doctor! That sounds miserable and does not sound like morning sickness at all. How are you feeling today? Hugs!!

@Brambles23 I love peppermint oil! I put one drop peppermint and one drop lavender oil on my temples and the back of my neck, and it really helps sometimes!

@natleilynn. I'm so sorry you had such a terrible experience and I hope you're feeling better soon.  I'm not a doctor and can definitely tell you don't just have MS. I'd have filled that z pack in a hot second!
