Re: Plus Size 5/3
If anyone has suggestions for good plus size maternity pants/shorts I'd love to hear them. I'm normally a size 16w pant and that's just slightly not closing on my these days. I can still button up a pair of 18w shorts I own, but they're super baggy in the legs, so I'd rather find some maternity pants in my size. I've yet to see anyone selling good looking maternity jeans (I almost exclusively wear jeans/jeans shirts) in the w sizes. Help?
I'm not going on a babymoon, sadly. Too much to get done (we're trying to sell a house before we go to one income) and I need to save what vacation time I can for a little pay while I'm out. I am spending a week in a beach house with my mom, sister, her husband and kids, and maybe a cousin and kids if she gets her act together. Lots of kids. I figure it'll be good inoculation for my husband and I.
It's been a fairly good week. I am Team Green, DH not so much but is being supportive. I was starting to get so much crap and weird questions about it from my step-kids and some members of the family that I felt like I was disappointing others and I started to give in. Thankfully I came to my senses and snapped out of it and yesterday at out A/S I was strong and told them I didn't want to know. Plus, everything looked great with baby so that was a relief as well.
I haven't dry heaved in at least a week so that has been wonderful! I did have an incident with Chinese food in the parking lot on Saturday and I felt terrible for anyone walking by and the couple fixing their car next to us. I think I just ate too much, not the food itself. But it's the second time that has happened with Chinese food.
@_erica_ I unfortunately am no help with maternity clothes. I am struggling myself. I am down to 2 pairs of pants and 1 skirt that I can wear (and I hate skirts). I am not a shorts person so I usually wear pants or capris even in the summer. But no one makes tall maternity plus-size pants. It is so annoying. I need to invest in some shirts but I am pretty cheap. Maybe Wal-mart online?

We aren't doing a Babymoon unfortunately for a couple reasons. 1) Trying to save as much PTO as possible for baby, and 2) I am trying to pay off a couple credit cards before baby comes.
ETA words
@_Erica_ I'm more of a leggings person than jeans so I don't think I would be the best help with maternity jeans except that I've surprisingly had a lot of success with consignment sales, Ross, and TJ Maxx. I've found all kinds of plus size maternity that hasn't been crazy expensive like elsewhere. Don't know if you have anything like that near you? It's definitely hit or miss, but I've been pleasantly surprised.
@dogdisnylovr Proud of you for starting strong and I'm super happy to hear LO looked great
This week definitely had some highs and lows for me.
First, I've been really happy that over the past two weeks I've only gained one pound. I've been a lot more careful of what I'm eating after I got in trouble at the doctor for gaining too much last appointment.
We also got a repeat a/s at 22w2d on Monday because a month ago Baby wasn't letting us see his heart. He was so precious and just over a pound. I couldn't believe how much bigger he looked in just 4 weeks. However, the doctor said he wanted to see me again for another u/s at 28 weeks and wouldn't say why other than for some women it's routine.
So if course I went home and googled all these things of what they could be looking for in "some women" and totally freaked myself out.
Yesterday my online profile through my health system updated and I could see the doctor's notes. It said "recommended ultrasound in 6 weeks to check growth. Obesity may affect pregnancy." and then it listed my BMI. And it just kind of felt like a punch to the gut. I've never really paid attention to my BMI because it isn't the most accurate way to measure health, but seeing it there and clearly being labeled obese felt awful. And then add to that the guilt about my weight potentially affecting Baby just got me feeling really down about myself. I just have to remind myself that he looks great right now and is right on track for growth. All I can do is love my body for making this new little baby boy and be as healthy as I can right now.

We are doing a quick weekend getaway for Memorial Day weekend since neither of us can really afford vacation time, but other than that we are trying to see if we can sneak in a couple of Broadway shows on weekends this summer. It's something we used to do a lot before we moved out of the city but we are still close enough that it's doable now and then. I also want to go to a couple of baseball games.

Maternity clothes are tricky to find but I love Old Navy I am a 20-22 most of the time and I love their shirts... motherhood has good pants and shorts but if you use a hair tie on the button of your current pants then put s belly band over that works great too!
GTKY: no babymoon as we just moved to Florida in December. We are still trying to sell our home in Illinois. We are going to be super busy getting Big Sisters Room ready and that will be where most of our open funds will be going!
@SuzieMay827 Honestly, shame on the doctor for not telling you he wanted to check baby's growth because sometimes weight impacts it. It would have saved you the stress of worrying something was wrong and been significantly more professional than you finding out through your portal. It's not like he didn't know the portal existed. I know it can be hard not to beat ourselves up for everything we do or don't do when it comes to growing a new human, but you care, you're doing the very best for him and he's going to be great.
GTKY: My stepson will be gone for 10 weeks this summer visiting his mom and I think the time will be mostly spent going through all the things we have in storage and setting up baby's room. It's our last kid free time for YEARS so we'll try to do something but...?
@_Erica_ I had ok luck at Destination Maternity. The selection isn't huge, but trying the clothes on was important to me (I tried Old Navy.com and had to send everything back). It's a little pricy, the jeans I bought were $60 (I'm so cheap), but they do a Plus Size ongoing sale where you buy two pieces you get a third free. I did find I was different sizes in the jeans vs the black "slacks" I bought, so I'm glad I went in. I'm trying to decide if I want to bite the bullet, I need at least one more pair of pants - do I want to cough up the money and do the buy 2 get 1 free thing. What I keep reminding myself is I'm only 21 weeks, and will likely be in maternity pants for 1-3 months postpartum as well. So I will get my money's worth.
ETA: GTKY: We have a memorial service back home (about a 5 hour drive) in July, so we're going to make a mini vaca of it (just Fri-Tues). We'll stay in Nana's house with FIL/MIL, and I plan to spend most of the time in the lake. I have to keep 40 hours of PTO as my first week of maternity leave, but I use or lose anything else I accumulate between now and then. It's nice to go easy on myself (not having to make up hours when I have dr's appts, etc), but it's going to suck not to have those two extra weeks of leave).
@SuzieMay827 It sucks when doctors remind us that we're overweight or obese. I had just hit the BMI that made me overweight instead of obese before Thanksgiving. Gained a little weight back with the holidays and then I got pregnant and I've gained a fair amount since then. We're all doing the best we can and that is what's right for these babies.
I feel enormous this week. I don't think I've gained much weight in the last few weeks, but I still feel a lot bigger. I wish I could look at myself in the mirror and see the miracle that is pregnancy. I just see myself getting bigger and think about how hard I woulrked to lose the weight to begin with.
We we are not doing a babymoon. Saving as many of my days off as I can. There's some stuff around the house we want to get done before baby. DH really wants to put in a patio this summer. I'm on the fence about it due to cost.
