Hey ladies! Have you always been an insomniac, or is this because of pregnancy? Is it different from your previous pregnancies? Do you have any tips for falling and staying asleep?
I managed to get some sleep last night, or I would have posted this then. I've always been an insomniac, but last pregnancy, it got worse and worse every trimester. It's definitely worse right now, because my daughter had been exhausting me so much that I was sleeping as much as possible.
Does everyone know about Sleep Hygiene? If not, you should google it! I don't follow the rule about having no screens in the bedroom. Sometimes I watch nature documentaries on my phone to fall asleep. Anything with David Attenborough knocks me out unless there's a real problem that night!
If I have to get up to pee in the middle of the night, it seems like hours go by before I'm snoozing again. Super hard for me to get comfy. I think it's time for new pillows.
@KathrynJ088I bought a wonderful ten-foot-long pillow for my last pregnancy, and it taught me to sleep on my side, so I can finally cuddle with my husband to sleep :-)
DD is my sleep trouble the last couple days. DH and I have been collapsing on her floor in the MOTN because she's teething (finally at 15.5 months) and screams for hours at a time. I can't imagine dealing with teething as an infant. FX the next LO is a late bloomer too.
Has anyone tried Diclegis? My OB prescribed this for nausea and I'm on some samples now. It's basically B6 vitamin and Unisom. Once I started that I'm finally starting to sleep slightly better. It's still not perfect, but better than what I was dealing with!!
Sleep was horrible for the last 3 weeks (I've been keeping poor DH up) but the last two nights it's been slightly better. I've discovered that for me, I have to exercise. I went on a good bike ride yesterday and was able to get decent sleep. I still have to get up and pee a couple hours before I get up but I think I'm getting used to it so I'm able to fall back asleep better, and those last couple hours before the alarm are the best. Also, I think making sure I'm hydrated before bed has helped, I have to pee but at least I'm feeling better other than that.
It seems as though it's every single night that I get tired an hour before bedtime, convince my husband to go to bed early, then lay in bed with him while we both mess around on our phones.
@Mandayno I got really lucky! That morning, I managed to get back to sleep for an hour because my husband got up early and took care of the larva. It wasn't everything I needed, but I was able to get through the day. He's usually so attached to his sleep that it was a pretty big sacrifice for him to do that. I practically felt pampered!
Hey everybody! There hasn't been much action on this thread, but if anyone wants to take it over, you're welcome to. I *TW* miscarried */TW* and will be bowing out of this BMB. Please don't feel it necessary to post comments with your condolences; if you just 'love it' this comment, I'll know you're thinking of me. I wish you all the best of luck, and healthy pregnancies. Thanks for being my birth month buddies for a few days!
