Saw no one had posted this yet for the week, so I hope it's cool that I'm doing this!
Check in here if you're working on, or need some encouragement to work on a healthy habit!
1. What healthy habit are you working on?
2. How is it going?
3. What is a small win from last week?
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy?
Re: Healthy Habits Check In Week of 5/1
2. How is it going? First day of boot camp today!!! It totally kicked my butt, but I finished it. And I'm going to Disneyland in a few hours so that can be my cardio? I feel like tomorrow will be way harder than today was because I know I won't be able to move.
3. What is a small win from last week? I didn't do great with eating over the weekend because AF showed up and I had to eat ALL the things, but I am proud of myself for sticking to replacing one meal a day with a protein shake (I use idealshape shakes and they're pretty good)
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Always something sweet, but my biggest vice is ice cream. Like somewhere along the way, my body decided that a pint of ice cream should be a single serving and I don't know how to break that habit. Every time I'm sad or upset, it's so hard to not stop at the grocery store across the street and pick up a pint.

@amphibious22 Congrats on completing day one of bootcamp! Day 1 is half the battle for me lol. Hope you make it through the next few sore days!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Eating healthy breakfasts and working out
2. How is it going? I have done neither of those goals yet haha. But my H and I just resolved to workout at least 20 minutes a day (which might just be a walk some days) so I'm feeling more optimistic this week.
3. What is a small win from last week? I cut down on my alcohol intake. A little.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? I don't have specific cravings, but when I'm hungry I tend to go for whatever is fastest and that's never something healthy. So I guess I crave convenience?

9/27/2017 - BFP at 10dpo (cycle 22), baby boy due June 9, 2018
@RatParade I find it sooo much easier to get work outs in when DH does it with me!
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Drinking more water & exercising regularly. I think I need to add cutting down on alcohol. I cut way back on alcohol when I was preparing to TTC (just to be healthier), and ever since it became apparent that I was in for another an-O cycle, my attitude has basically been "eff it, bring me another glass of wine".
2. How is it going? Alright? Ever since my cold last week, my water intake has actually been better (yay?). Exercise has been okay, but it could be better. I need to push myself a little more I think.
3. What is a small win from last week? There were a couple days last week where I actually met my water goal.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Cheese. All the cheese forever. On everything.
Married: 10/2013
TTC #1 Since: 02/2017
@RatParade That's awesome that YH is willing to work out with you. DH talks a big talk, but he's bad about the follow through.
@Cricket648 I totally hit the "eff it, add wine" stage. It's weird to go back to my old drinking habits now (or lack there of) but you'll get there after CD1.
1. What healthy habit are you working on? Daily workouts/yoga, 80% paleo (leniency to allow whole grains, legumes, and life) but absolutely no dairy (that includes ice cream
2. How is it going?
3. What is a small win from last week? I had a lot of cheat days the last couple of days. But I have kept up with yoga, I even went for a run last week. I think my biggest small win was went DH and I ordered Chinese, I ordered my normal crispy chicken, but I also got steamed green beans (no salt, no sauce) and threw out my rice.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Pasta and cinnamon rolls. Carbs essentially. Lots of carbs.

2. How is it going? Pretty good so far. Are less than healthy this weekend, but not horrible either. I haven't had much time to meet step goals or do you every day, but that's because I'm doing a lot of chores around the house, so we'll call it even?
3. What is a small win from last week? Got a great hike in yesterday!
4. GTKY: sweets and desserts

1. What healthy habit are you working on? Exercise more, low carb, lose a few pounds. MH and I decided to try to do an hour walk almost every day in addition to regular workouts just to be less sedentary and I'm hoping that gets me back on track.
2. How is it going? Last few weeks were terrible but already I have worked out more this week in just these 2 days so feeling good.
3. What is a small win from last week? That I survived...? I think I'm not sick anymore so hoping this week is better.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Bread and chocolate.
@RatParade that's great that the hubs is working out with you!
@Cricket648 yasssss high five on the water goal!!
@LoveInDC ah my good friend paleo. It's tough but so much easier if you meal prep! At least it was for me!
@icecubeinthedesert chores help with steps! Also I wish I lived in an area with more places to hike. I always see pics of amazing trails in CA and what not and I'm always super jealous
1. What healthy habit are you working on? More water and 21 day fix eating
2. How is it going? Day 1. AF only got in the way a little and I had m&ms (sidenote...that's not part of the plan)
3. What is a small win from last week? I did manage low carb again till the weekend came and fucked me all up
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy?
salty!!! I want chips and all of them. Don't even give me a bag bc I will literally (seriously) eat it all!
I justified it to myself becasue it's Monday. Tuesday is a much better day to cut back on wine.
@LoveInDC Yay for your chinese food win! Keep it up! I hope it helps!
@icecubeinthedesert I love to hike! Did you see anything interesting while you were out?
@50Wife Sorry about AF, all of my healthy habits go to hell during AF. That's great that you did low carb all week!

Im not talking glasses each night...just one little glass. I'm not a big drinker but I'm wondering if it would help. Basically it's between that or picking up smoking. So really red wine is a the way to go, right??
@Cricket648 I can't judge you ... because I am currently also drinking a glass of wine
@vflux33 Don't downplay progress! Just because your not meeting your goals does not mean you aren't accomplishing anything. You can do it
@50Wife Paleo can die in a fire. Just kidding (but seriously). My sister and BIL were paleo for a while and are sending me all these cookbooks and recipe guides. I have my eyes on a few recipes going into next week, but it's hard doing paleo on your own when YH is eating cheetos and pizza lol No shame for slipping on the weekends, what's important is getting back at it. BTW, I've seen more than one diet encourage/allow 2 glasses of wine a week, so I say you're good

I'm sure it's an obvious one...but Pinterest. And if you're doing it to eliminate stuff from your diet and not lose weight, there are recipes you can make for bread and stuff. Invest in stuff like almond flour and coconut sugar. I know I made bread using cashew butter when I did it. It wasn't half bad!
There are a lot of Instagram pages who have blogs for paleo...paleomg is a good one

@cricket648, we saw lots of lizards. It must have been mating season, because there was one Lothario running back and forth between two females.
@LoveInDC, I totally agree with how hard it is to be good when DH is eating crap. I currently have a Costco size jar of JellyBelly's sitting in front of me...

2. How is it going? Managing to get to the gym 2x a week, wanting to get it up to 3x.
3. What is a small win from last week? I got on the scale. It was not a pretty number, but I had been avoiding it for months.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? like @amphibious22 it's definitely ice cream all day every day.
@Cricket648 - Cheese is life.
@vflux33 - I'm glad you're feeling better. Being sick makes healthy choices seem like bad decisions!
@icecubeinthedesert - How have you not eaten all of the jelly bellies!?

2. How is it going? it's so hard. i'm def feeling the "getting old" thing. And I'm realizing I stress eat so damn much.
3. What is a small win from last week? I added a ton of free workout videos on Amazon Prime, and did one last week and one last night.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? donuts - cream cheese frosted persian. Every dang morning I crave one soooo hard.
@icecubeinthedesert if you pick out only the jelly belly flavors you like the most.... that's like cutting calories.. right? (don't listen to me, clearly this is why i can't lose weight!)
@pebbledam applause for getting to the gym 2x a week, that's more than me!
@vflux33 I love your idea of an hour walk with YH. Not only does it get you guys active, but you can chat and connect the whole time.

@AliW220 I feel you on the getting old... Yeah I'm looking forward to this walking thing because of that too. Just having less time to sit and watch TV seems like a good thing. Will let you know how it goes!
2. How is it going? Breakfast is hard for me. I value my sleep and I'm not a person that will get up and make myself breakfast before I go to work. I've been eating clif bars, but they have so much sugar. Every Sunday I say I'm going to make the little egg frittatas in muffin tins for the week, but don't (I've done it twice in the last 6 weeks.)
3. What is a small win from last week? I think I've gotten a handle on this water intake thing.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Bread, all of the bread. And if i know there is a Reese's peanut butter egg in the fridge I will want to eat it.
I really don't feel like going to the gym today...but I can't go tomorrow, so I have to push myself. I didn't want to go yesterday either, but was so glad I did. The yoga class last night was perfect to help recover from a Monday.
@LoveInDC I'm with you on all of the carbs. I can only imagine how difficult doing paleo must be. good job not eating the rice.
@Amphibious22 thanks for getting this started! congrats on boot camp. Is it everyday or a few times a week?
@RatParade a small win is still a win. cutting down a little is still a victory! You can use that to get you to your other goals.
@Cricket648 here to support you in your Tuesday wine decrease. Sometimes, on a Monday, you just need some wine.
@icecubeinthedesert your view sounds amazing. how are you doing with your steps/yoga? I second @50wife on the chores counting as exercise. Have you ever put housework in to a calorie/exercise app like my fitness pal. chores burn lots of calories!
@vflux33 first, amazing gif. second, being sick is a totally legitimate reason for not working out. Good for you for getting back in the game this week.
@50Wife m&ms just on CD1 seems like a win to me. I go snack crazy right before AF and use AF as an excuse to eat junk food. if it's down to smoking or red wine, red wine all the way. My grandmother has a small glass of red wine almost every day for heart health. (she drinks it out of a juice glass
@pebbledam getting to the gym 2x a week is a great accomplishment. It is so hard to make yourself go sometimes. Scales are evil. We did a "diet/healthy habits" competition at work and you lost points if you got on a scale more than once a week.
@AliW220 i am totally a stress eater too. What videos did you download? I didn't even think about looking on amazon prime for them, that's a great idea.

Ok so let's scratch that...
overnight oats is a good one! Literally oatmeal, whatever type of milk you like (they have a chocolate almond milk that is BOMB for overnight oats) throw in some extras like chia seeds or even mini chocolate chips if you do regular milk so there's a bit of sweet to it and just let it sit. I've made a big batch in the past and just scooped from it each day or it's easy enough to throw together each night. You can add fresh fruit or nuts the next morning. Easy peasy and always so good!
@Avrilmai Wooooo on your water intake! That's awesome! I'm currently drinking tea instead of wine, so Day 1 has been successful! Haha
Married: 10/2013

@RatParade I'm jealous that YH is willing to try and work out with you. Mine absolutely refuses. And walks totally count, plus fresh air is always nice!
@Cricket648 Yes for that water goal!! That is always so hard for me to reach. I just suck at refilling my water bottle, especially at the end of the day. As I'm typing this, you actually reminded me to get up and get more water so THANKS!
@LoveInDC I wish I could get into yoga. I think I have to lose weight before I would even attempt it, but people always have such positive things to say about it. Yay for sticking with it!! And cinnamon rolls? YES PLEASE!
@icecubeinthedesert I love hiking too! It's literally the only form of exercise I can convince DH to join me on. And there's a state park and tons of hiking trails like 2 minutes from my house, but I don't go nearly as much as I should. I always find an excuse and recently the excuse has been that it's too hot. One day I'll be a regular hiker..
@vflux33 that gif is what I wish I could be right now. And you're sick and still sticking to some healthy habits? Rockstar!
@50Wife Lol your AF cheat is some M&Ms and mine is an entire pint of ice cream from Coldstone...
@notironmanswife What usually works for me is keeping those 80 calorie fudgsicles in the house. They soothe my craving and I don't feel too guilty about eating one after dinner.
@pebbledam yes to working out 2x a week! I'm shooting for 5x with this boot camp, but we'll see where I'm at on Friday. I also made the mistake of getting on the scale because I wanted a starting number. It was bad.
@AliW220 I never knew you could get workouts on Amazon Prime! That's so smart. I just can't workout at home because I always feel guilty that my downstairs neighbors can hear my jumping around.
@Avrilmai They offer classes everyday. The gym is kind of like crossfit, but also definitely not crossfit. I'm going to try and go M-F. And I second @50Wife about the overnight oats. I make that a lot and switch up the flavors so it doesn't get boring. Also protein shakes are another easy option.

@Avrilmai - I've also made baked/crockpot oatmeal (like what @50Wife said) and protein muffins for weekday breakfasts. Kind bars have quite a bit of sugar, but it's all from fruit, I believe.
@AliW220 - I'm also going to look at workout vids on Amazon Prime!
@Amphibious22 - That's exactly why I got on the scale, too. And I'm with you on the coldstone ice cream. Gimme all that everyday on CD1.

Yoga for weightloss - Erica Vetra and Lindsey Samper are two that I've downloaded but haven't gotten to yet. They have good reviews.
One video I did was from Lumowell... it was all animated (really strange) but was high intensity and short, I actually really liked the pace. The other one I've done was Ballet Fitness, but I wasn't a fan of it.

@pebbledam Yes--we should! I will have one day eating off diet and weigh myself and be like "see? you gained half a pound!" and it's, like, too much and doesn't really motivate me at this point. I need a warning sign on my scale.
2. How is it going? Horribly! I just had physio last night, and have a strained tendon that goes from my ankle to my big toe. I am supposed to rest it completely, so am not going to get back to the gym for at least another week or so. Plus, DH cooks and he just went out of town for the week. I hate cooking for one, so I tend to grab take out a bit too often
3. What is a small win from last week? We did pretty well with food, lots of healthy dinners and leftovers. No gym though, with my ankle all messed up
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? Chocolate. I'm usually pretty good at getting dark chocolate and having a reasonable portion
Will be back to post comments later! Just realized I was super late this week, and skipped last week completely
2. How is it going? I love dancing so I'm enjoying Cize so far. But I'm not sure if it's really doing enough to make me lose the weight. We'll see I guess.
3. What is a small win from last week? I ran a half marathon last week. On almost no training since the fall. I ran with a friend and her hubby. It was both of their firsts and we did shorter run/walk intervals than I'm used to so it was pretty easy.
4. GTKY: What do you crave the most when you're trying to eat healthy? I'm a foodie & dieting is a last resort (which I might have to get to in a few weeks) but I'm a salty person so I miss chips, dip, popcorn. And although I gave it up because of TTC, oh how I miss Coke.
@Sailing_Mama I'm sorry to hear that your ankle is giving you trouble! That's awful! Hopefully you recover quickly. I also find it hard to motivate myself to cook for one.
@purplg8r Yaaaaasss to popcorn! There's a popcorn and candy shop like 5 minutes away from my house, and they have the best flavored popcorn. They're dangerous. Also, way to go on that half marathon! I'm nowhere near doing one of those anytime soon!

@RatParade breakfast? What's that? I'm really bad and don't eat any. I just ordered shakeology so I'm going to try to have that in the mornings.
@Cricket648 I HATE water. It makes me gag. The only way I'll drink it is with the crystal light drops in it (and a lot of drops at that). I know it's bad because of artifice sweeteners but I don't know what else to drink.
@LoveInDC no ice cream??? Sob!
@icecubeinthedesert what is your step goal?
@vflux33 your gif cracked me up!
@50Wife gimme all the salty things!
@pebbledam I'm bad about the scale. I get on first thing in the morning & at night before my shower.
@AliW220 what's a frosted Persian?
@Avrilmai I'm with you on breakfast. I sleep until the last possible minute & no time for breakfast.
@Sailing_Mama oh no! I'm so sorry about your injury!! And I'm the same way about cooking. H works super late 4 nights a week and I can't find too many good recipes for 1 person. And I'm not a fan of leftovers
@AliW220 an animated workout sounds so strange
@Sailing_Mama sorry to hear about the ankle. I struggle with meals for one as well, seems pointless to dirty dishes just for me. when my DH worked nights I had some strange dinners.
@purplg8r so glad you're joining us! like @Cricket648 I love popcorn. Have you tried Skinny Pop? I've become obsessed, but it's like 39cal in a cup, so I don't feel bad eating something with no real nutritional value. Also, I would say doing a half marathon with almost no training is a big win!

A tip from me... I like to add a little extra milk in the morning bc I like my oats just a little runny and that shit really gets absorbed overnight.
And check out different milks, around the holidays, they put out dairy free nog that I love to use in my oats.
@Cricket648 hey that's one way to make sure you get your water in!
This is what I'm picturing though
@Avrilmai - the animation was really weird at first, but I also like it. I have so much negative self talk that I beat myself up with "I could do this video a million times and never look as good as her" and other BS. Can't do that with a non-real person.
