  • @aprilsarahjune Loss is just so hard and I can only imagine how it would be amplified with a loss and immediate pregnancy following. I took quite awhile to grieve so I'm sure the balance of excitement and sadness is difficult at times.

    1) How far along are you?
      16w6d

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally?  Physically, I'm having trouble sleeping comfortably and have definitely started to pop. I had to wear a suit yesterday and my pants definitely were not buttoned, haha! Emotionally, I am doing okay - I'm just nervous for the AS scan and want it all to go well.  The doppler continues to help when I need reassurance but since I'm physically starting to see a change, that helps too. Plus, I have felt a few flutters from baby.

    3) When is your next appointment?  5/15 for the AS.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions  This pregnancy brain is terrible.  I cannot remember anything to save my life.  I've always had a terrible memory when it came to client names, etc, but this week my boss asked me to give an example of an appeal I'd done to another one of our attorneys and I could not come up with a single example - I just don't have that in my brain anymore.

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?  Generally being handy/being able to fix small things. I can youtube it but would love to be instinctively better at knowing how things work.

  • @laeberge3 I hate being put on the spot like that!  I know it is necessary and natural to be able to pull up that information for most people, but I often can't do it either.  I have met with clients so many times and I am trying to make three basic points about why a trust may or may not be a good idea for them, but I get past point 2 and am like uh uh uh.  Pregnancy is definitely making it worse.  I hope you were able to recover well and help share your knowledge!

  • @aprilsarahjune Thankfully I was able to stumble upon a name, but I can imagine it'll only get worse.  I've done the same thing with clients, too.  I'm in litigation and was doing prep with a client for a deposition and couldn't remember one of my important points.  The one good thing is I've done this long enough to jabber on about nothing until I can remember, ha!

  • @migdala I am bored for you at your professionalism training!  I am licensed in two states and one is half of the country away from me, so I had to fly in to sit through one awhile ago - I brought DH though and took him to a water-view restaurant for sushi at lunch.  For my home state this year, though, I took my course on a boat with a beer in hand!

  • 1) How far along are you? 15 +2

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? I'm feeling so much better physically, although still throwing up occasionally and having bouts of nausea and tiredness. But really do feel a lot better. Being in the second trimester and feeling flutters has given me peace of mind for sure.

    3) When is your next appointment? next Wednesday! I haven't been since I was 11 weeks so I'm definitely anxious. Excited to hear that heartbeat!

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions none really! Just happy to still be pregnant and so very thankful for a normal pregnancy so far!

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?  I sing and play piano. I think it would be awesome to play the guitar or ukelele since it's much more portable than a piano lol.

@aprilsarahjune I love all the flowers and creatures during springtime! Cardinals are beautiful

@laeberge3 Oh no, that sucks your boss put you on the spot like that. Pregnancy brain is real though!

@migdala glad to hear you're doing well other than nausea! At home visual scans would be so cool..I wish they had that now.

    1) How far along are you?
    14+2

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally?
Well everything was good until Tuesday night. I was out of town and started cramping at midnight. Then the cramping got so strong at 3am that it woke me out of my sleep, and I was having sporadic contractions every 6 to 10 mins. I debated going to the ER, but I really didn't want to since I was out of town and would have had to have woken up a family member to watch DS. Anyhow, I'm still cramping but not nearly as bad. And I'm back in town, so my doctor told me to come in today at 2pm. I can still find a solid heartbeat with the doppler, but all this still has me nervous.

    3) When is your next appointment?
    In a couple hours

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions
See #2. I just thought I was in the clear, but I guess maybe not. When I was pregnant with DS I ended up in the hospital twice with contractions and had to have steroid shots to develop his lungs. But that wasn't But ill 24 and 28 weeks and he ended up being full term. I'm just hoping I don't have to re-live all those issues.

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?
I wish I was fluent in Spanish. I can understand more than I can speak. But it's my mom's first language, so idk why she didn't teach me! And it's all that my grandma on her side speaks.. It sucks not being able to communicate.

  • @flowerintherain when I was a FTM expecting my first I never worried about a single ache or pain but after becoming a PGAL I overthink everything! And I just wish they'd look at the baby instead of just listen to the HB. Would be so nice to see him/her doing well in there. Stay positive :)

  • 1) How far along are you? 15w2d

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? Starting to pick up out of a 3 month low-energy depression, I think.  I hope. I laughed today and it felt good.

    3) When is your next appointment? Meet the midwife next week.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions. Last time I was really bouncy and energetic and doing loads of sports and full of excitement, but only got as far as 9w. This time I've turned into a miserable sleepy thing with no energy.  I swear its a parasite not a baby in there lol.

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?  Mothering! I know absolutely nothing and have never even held a baby in my 40 years...

  • @aprilsarahjune I totally know what you mean about having a loss and then getting pregnant again. I had a chemical pregnancy my december cycle a miscarriage my january cycle and then got pregnant on my february cycle. It's been a total roller coaster and it's very exhausting.

    1) How far along are you? 13+1

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? Physically I am starting to feel much better. Emotionally I am keeping sane thanks to my doppler.

    3) When is your next appointment? May 11th for just a regular ob visit.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?  I wish I was good with cars. I am totally helpless!

  • @nbcarlson That is a crazy couple of months, girl! I'm glad that you are coming to terms with it and I hope that your pregnancy and any future pregnancies are a smoother ride.

Before this, I didn't even know it was possible for me to get pregnant again without having my period first.  Dumb, I know, but all of the stories I had read about losses had said it could take several months to get your cycle back and I never came across a story quite like what really happened to me.  I wish I would have had a doctor go through all of the post-loss details with me, but I just described my suspected miscarriage symptoms to the nurse, went in for 2 confirming blood tests and for a RhoGam shot, and went back to life.

@lizgirlie  You've got this momma - you have spent your whole 40 years learning lessons and determining your personal morals/values/goals and now you get to pass them on.  I had babysat and worked and volunteered for kids' recreational activities, but honestly, I knew very little about keeping a baby alive and raising respectable, loving little people.  So, I took 3 pieces of my personal values/morals/guidance and went from there:
    (1) reading is good for the mind at any age (so I read and read and read to my babies once they were born);
    (2) nutrition is important and it is really easy to get distracted in our culture (so I learned to cook, would spend a few hours each weekend picking out recipes, and spent late nights chopping vegetables for tomorrow's dinner); and
    (3) my babies needed me to be their mother (so I researched and then trusted my own judgment and shirked the advice that was coming at me from every one else).
For DH, he desperately wanted to raise LOs who loved the outdoors, cared for the earth, and knew how to care for living things; so we are doing that too.
That is just what was important to us; my advice (which you are welcome to shirk) is to choose your own "must-haves" for motherhood and you'll do fine.

  • 1) How far along are you? 15 weeks 3 days

    2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? I feel like emotionally I am doing ok most of the time but the pregnancy hormones get to me and I get sad over things much easier then normal. I have also been crying about once a week for my baby that miscarried. (I had the miscarriage the month before I got pregnant so it has not been long) Physically I am still a little morning sick at times mostly first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed.

    3) When is your next appointment? about 4 weeks I just had one on this past Thursday and got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time which was awesome.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions none right now :)

    5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?  I like what someone said earlier about running I would also say exercising. I just wish I enjoyed it more so perhaps I would do so more often.
  • @aprilsarahjune I love that advice - thank you for sharing!
