Re: PGAL Check-In 4/27
1) How far along are you? 16 weeks
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? I am all right. I had a "coming to Jesus" moment in the last few weeks where I realized that the last 3-4 months had been pretty awful in certain ways. For example, my work office was so messy - like couldn't walk on the floor because of all of the piles of papers, and I had disregarded many responsibilities that I usually take seriously. I think it was related to the loss and immediate pregnancy.
3) When is your next appointment? Next Thursday. No a/s though - I have to wait until June because of the way my appointment schedule falls.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions Springtime? I saw a cardinal in the yard this and up against the green grass, the red feathers were stunning.
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? Running. I admire runners, but even when I have tried hard and trained, I have sucked at it. Meh - yoga it is.
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17
High risk for pre-term: weekly Makena injections
1) How far along are you? 16w6d
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? Physically, I'm having trouble sleeping comfortably and have definitely started to pop. I had to wear a suit yesterday and my pants definitely were not buttoned, haha! Emotionally, I am doing okay - I'm just nervous for the AS scan and want it all to go well. The doppler continues to help when I need reassurance but since I'm physically starting to see a change, that helps too. Plus, I have felt a few flutters from baby.
3) When is your next appointment? 5/15 for the AS.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions This pregnancy brain is terrible. I cannot remember anything to save my life. I've always had a terrible memory when it came to client names, etc, but this week my boss asked me to give an example of an appeal I'd done to another one of our attorneys and I could not come up with a single example - I just don't have that in my brain anymore.
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? Generally being handy/being able to fix small things. I can youtube it but would love to be instinctively better at knowing how things work.

@laeberge3 I'm so jealous you feel flutters, I can't wait for that! There have been a couple of times I thought I felt something, usually at night when I'm laying on my back. But I think it might just be gas
1) How far along are you?
15w5d
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally?
Marginally better physically but still nauseous every day. My acupuncturist recommended putting mint leaves in my water because I haven't been liking the way water tastes (so weird) and she was right, it actually tastes good now and I'm hydrating a lot more and I think it's helping the nausea and heartburn. Emotionally, good too - I don't like how long we have to wait between ultrasounds to see baby, but the Doppler helps. I bet when this babe is a mama-to-be they have at-home visual scans just like our generation got the at-home dopplers. Lucky duck.
3) When is your next appointment?
May 20 is the a/s. I think I have a midwife appointment before then too but it's just a quickie.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions
I'm at a mandatory lawyer course on professionalism and it lasts all day and it's so stupid. What a waste of time - if I'm spending a day away from work, I'd rather be back in bed!
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?
DH and I started watching The Great British Baking Show and now I wish I was a good baker. As soon as our kitchen remodel finishes I'm going to start making that a thing.
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17
High risk for pre-term: weekly Makena injections
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? I'm feeling so much better physically, although still throwing up occasionally and having bouts of nausea and tiredness. But really do feel a lot better. Being in the second trimester and feeling flutters has given me peace of mind for sure.
3) When is your next appointment? next Wednesday! I haven't been since I was 11 weeks so I'm definitely anxious. Excited to hear that heartbeat!
4) Rants/Raves/Questions none really! Just happy to still be pregnant and so very thankful for a normal pregnancy so far!
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? I sing and play piano. I think it would be awesome to play the guitar or ukelele since it's much more portable than a piano lol.
@laeberge3 Oh no, that sucks your boss put you on the spot like that. Pregnancy brain is real though!
@migdala glad to hear you're doing well other than nausea! At home visual scans would be so cool..I wish they had that now.
1) How far along are you?
14+2
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally?
Well everything was good until Tuesday night. I was out of town and started cramping at midnight. Then the cramping got so strong at 3am that it woke me out of my sleep, and I was having sporadic contractions every 6 to 10 mins. I debated going to the ER, but I really didn't want to since I was out of town and would have had to have woken up a family member to watch DS. Anyhow, I'm still cramping but not nearly as bad. And I'm back in town, so my doctor told me to come in today at 2pm. I can still find a solid heartbeat with the doppler, but all this still has me nervous.
3) When is your next appointment?
In a couple hours
4) Rants/Raves/Questions
See #2. I just thought I was in the clear, but I guess maybe not. When I was pregnant with DS I ended up in the hospital twice with contractions and had to have steroid shots to develop his lungs. But that wasn't But ill 24 and 28 weeks and he ended up being full term. I'm just hoping I don't have to re-live all those issues.
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?
I wish I was fluent in Spanish. I can understand more than I can speak. But it's my mom's first language, so idk why she didn't teach me! And it's all that my grandma on her side speaks.. It sucks not being able to communicate.

2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? Starting to pick up out of a 3 month low-energy depression, I think. I hope. I laughed today and it felt good.
3) When is your next appointment? Meet the midwife next week.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions. Last time I was really bouncy and energetic and doing loads of sports and full of excitement, but only got as far as 9w. This time I've turned into a miserable sleepy thing with no energy. I swear its a parasite not a baby in there lol.
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? Mothering! I know absolutely nothing and have never even held a baby in my 40 years...
@laeberge3 that's awesome you're feeling flutters! Right there with you with pregnancy brain. I've had it for several weeks now, but this last week I've had several examples at work where people just look at me like, when did the idiot get here?
@migdala I'm still nauseas too and so mad about it. Everyone said it would stop at 14 weeks and though I of course know everyone's not the same, I'm jealous that it didn't happen for me like it did for all my friends.
@MamaStreeter glad you're feeling better, and again, jealous about the flutters. I just can't wait!
@flowerintherain I'm so sorry you're having cramps and a scary experience. Hoping hard that all is well. It sucks how this nine months seems to move slower for us AL ladies, praying each day that there won't be complications.
@Maksim's Mom hope the time passes quickly to your u/s. I just love getting to see the LO, and then count down the days till the next one.
@lizgirlie I love your "wish I knew how to do better". Me too! I so wish there was a way to know with confidence I was going to know what to do in situations with my LO. So nervous! Glad you got to laugh again!
Sorry I haven't checked in in a couple weeks ladies.
1) How far along are you?... 15 weeks.
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally?... Feeling ok, but only because I've gotten so used to feeling sick. I really am wishing all the time though for that extra energy to kick in. Still napping constantly.
3) When is your next appointment?... May 22nd for my next OB follow up and the 23rd for my A/S.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions... Grrr my rant is missing out on a good position at work because of discrimination. It's a man's world I work in, but they found a sneaky legal way to get around even offering me the interview. Oh well, their loss, and I'm realizing, though the money would be good for our family, the hours would not be good for me getting the time I want with my LO.
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at?... Time management. Plain and simple, lol.
1) How far along are you? 13+1
2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? Physically I am starting to feel much better. Emotionally I am keeping sane thanks to my doppler.
3) When is your next appointment? May 11th for just a regular ob visit.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? I wish I was good with cars. I am totally helpless!
Before this, I didn't even know it was possible for me to get pregnant again without having my period first. Dumb, I know, but all of the stories I had read about losses had said it could take several months to get your cycle back and I never came across a story quite like what really happened to me. I wish I would have had a doctor go through all of the post-loss details with me, but I just described my suspected miscarriage symptoms to the nurse, went in for 2 confirming blood tests and for a RhoGam shot, and went back to life.
Preemie ID DDs; then DS; then natural M/C; now due 10/17

(1) reading is good for the mind at any age (so I read and read and read to my babies once they were born);
(2) nutrition is important and it is really easy to get distracted in our culture (so I learned to cook, would spend a few hours each weekend picking out recipes, and spent late nights chopping vegetables for tomorrow's dinner); and
(3) my babies needed me to be their mother (so I researched and then trusted my own judgment and shirked the advice that was coming at me from every one else).
For DH, he desperately wanted to raise LOs who loved the outdoors, cared for the earth, and knew how to care for living things; so we are doing that too.
That is just what was important to us; my advice (which you are welcome to shirk) is to choose your own "must-haves" for motherhood and you'll do fine.

2) How are you feeling physically and emotionally? I feel like emotionally I am doing ok most of the time but the pregnancy hormones get to me and I get sad over things much easier then normal. I have also been crying about once a week for my baby that miscarried. (I had the miscarriage the month before I got pregnant so it has not been long) Physically I am still a little morning sick at times mostly first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed.
3) When is your next appointment? about 4 weeks I just had one on this past Thursday and got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time which was awesome.
4) Rants/Raves/Questions none right now
5) GTKY: What skill do you wish you had or were better at? I like what someone said earlier about running I would also say exercising. I just wish I enjoyed it more so perhaps I would do so more often.
