Any appointments this week?

Re: Weekly Appointments 4/24

  • A/S attempt #3 tomorrow - anyone have any advice to make LO a little more cooperative?? Apparently (s)he kept moving, which was good, but wouldn't be still long enough to get good measurements, and then when (s)he did keep still, it was in a position that also made it hard to get proper measurements. Tech kept saying "it's just the luck of the draw sometimes!" which didn't exactly make me feel better, lol.
  • Loading the player...
  • Avoid sugary drinks or caffeine beforehand. Also maybe schedule it when baby is quieter? For ex, my baby moves less in the am, compared to afternoon, evening, night
  • Went today and let them know about the Braxton Hicks I had been experiencing, and they did a pelvic exam because of it, just to make sure everything is good. It was fine. Cervix is still long and closed.

Glucose test next month. No my favorite part of pregnancy, but I'll get it over with and move on! Lol!
  • I had a regular OB appt today. I was really hoping to discuss the results of my anatomy scan and the length of my cervix, which I thought measured a bit short (3cm) My OB brushed me off when I asked if it was short and said that they did not even measure it. Um, I was there and it was definitely measured. My appointment was less than 3 minutes long and I felt like all of the questions and concerns I had could not even be addressed because I clammed up as soon as she said she "personally reviewed" my anatomy scan and they did not report nor measure my cervix. I spent more time peeing in a cup today than I did with the doctor. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm just hoping she was just running behind and because I've had a relatively smooth pregnancy I was brushed under the rug. It doesn't make it right but I'm trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. :/ Luckily all of the other OBs in the practice have excellent bedside manner and make sure to sit down while asking if you have any questions so that you feel comfortable voicing your concerns. Ugh. I just want to cry, I had so many issues to discuss and now it will have to wait another 4 weeks.

@HappyToBeHere Try going in with a somewhat full bladder and use the bathroom half way through. My baby flipped after I emptied mine and the tech was able to measure the spine and abdominal organs the second go around.

  • Had a second attempt to finish the AS pictures, but no luck  :D It was fun to see LO again, but I think the tech wanted to cry. She said (jokingly, she's actually really sweet and a great sport) that she'll now dread seeing my name on the schedule! None of my pregnancy symptoms are any more relievable - heartburn and carpal tunnel, which blows. LO is growing great though! And was kicking around and moving up a storm :)

Scheduled glucose test for 3 weeks out, but Dr didn't want to worry about another us until later. They can see that his heart is ok, just not get all the pics they want/need.

  • @AdvoCyndi30 - glad you got checked out! My next appointment isn't until 5/8 and I haven't decided if I need to call yet about the braxton hicks. I feel like with my luck definitely nothing would be happening when I went in and I would feel stupid (for no reason), but I hate doctors making me feel silly! @BlackNYellow I'm sorry your doctor wasn't on top of her game today! I tend to be weary of doctors for things like that! I use midwives mainly because I think they care a little more, but that being said our family primary care doctor always makes us feel super important every time we go see her so I guess it is worth giving them all the benefit of the doubt.

    DD#1: 5/29/12

    DD#2: 1/14/15

Baby #3 on the way due 8/19/17

  • Thanks for all the advice ladies! @caity024 - I know how you feel with loving seeing them again but the techs fearing us coming in hahaha - one told me "this baby is right up there with the most uncooperative I've scanned". So frustrating, but fun to see anyway :). Are you team green? I'm finding it harder to stay team green the more times I see LO.
  • @donehue I wasn't concerned about them at all, but they asked about new symptoms and when I mentioned it, the nurse said the doctor would want to check me. It wasn't anything I would have called about, but definitely worth mentioning at your next appointment.
  • Had a regular check up yesterday. Baby boy is healthy and I'm measuring on track. Since I'm not high risk this time, they will let me go to 42 weeks, opposed to the 39 weeks I was induced at last time. No complaints here, and glad to (hopefully) not have to be induced...im just trying to imagine being pregnants for 3 weeks longer than I was with DD. Yikes. GD test next time.

  • @BlackNYellow can you send your Dr's an email? I use MyChart and can connect with my Dr's and ask them to call me.
I had to get a fetal echo a few weeks ago and I was so flustered at the appointment that I didn't feel like I got all my questions answered. I emailed my Dr and she called me back that day. I felt a little silly but better than waiting weeks for your questions.
  • @HappyToBeHere nope, team blue and loving it. I had to know, I can imagine the fun of being team green, but there was no way my OCD planning would cope haha.
