How far along are you & how big is baby?  24 weeks and about the size of a G.I Jo

Upcoming appointments?  Sometime this week I need to check my appointment book. I keep forgetting what day it actually is..

    Symptoms? Heartburn and body aches

Cravings?  Pretty much any kind of sugary breakfast cereal

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I really wish my landlord hadn't moved his daughter and her new husband into the other side of our duplex. It's going to be super weird when I have to call and complain about them. They keep letting their guests park in the spot in front of our house and when I asked them to move she says "you just park in carport ya?" Umm no gtfo of my spot. Your guests can park in the carport if you'd like.

GTKY: What is your favorite restaurant? Chain: Olive Garden.
There is this place a few towns over and they serve like 100 different types of potato dishes and I absolutely love it there. Last time I got a scalloped potato dishes with extra cheese ham and mushrooms. Heavenly.

Question: Has anyone signed up/ attended any birthing/ parenting classes? I am looking at the class schedule that my hospital offers, and I don't know if I should sign up for May or June classes. I want to do Infant CPR, Parenting 101, preparing for birth, breastfeeding 101, and the car seat safety class.
GTKY: What is your favorite restaurant?

Cravings?  I've been sick with an upper respiratory infection so food hasn't been my best friend the past few days.

Rants/Raves/Questions?   Being pregnant brings on the lowered immune system hence my upper respiratory infection. I wish the head pressure would just go away. On day 5 of 10 for my amoxicillin.

    22 weeks - coconut

    Upcoming appointments?
I had a regular checkup on Friday so I don't go back for another 4 weeks.

    Symptoms?
Insomnia although I had a few nights recently where I woke up and was able to fall back asleep pretty quickly.

    Cravings?
    Fruit and chocolate.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I've been feeling outside kicks for a little over a week, but the outside ones tend to only happen late at night when I'm lying down.  The baby was pretty active the other night when I was with DS2 and he felt them.  He laughed and had a huge smile.  He decided they felt like boy kicks.  I'm hoping DS1 is able to feel them soon because I know he was disappointed that his brother felt kicks and he didn't.

GTKY: What is your favorite restaurant?
I'm not a huge fan of most chains although I like Cheesecake Factory, especially the desserts.  We rarely go there, which is probably a good thing for my waistline.  There are a lot of great restaurants near us so we mix it up a lot depending on the type of food we want.  Luckily our kids seem to like all types of cuisines.  It's so hard to pick a favorite restaurant though.  One of our favorite places to go when we visit my parents is a churrascaria.  We always leave there completely stuffed.

23 weeks! (and one day...because I didn't get on here yesterday.) Size of a grapefruit.

    Upcoming appointments?

Just had one today.  Everything looked good!  He decided to check my cervix due to Braxton Hicks contractions. They are truly Braxton Hicks and not doing anything to my cervix, so that's good news.

    Symptoms?

    Braxton Hicks, swelling...

    Cravings?

    Nothing in particular.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?

My weight is bothering me.  I wish I wasn't so concerned about health and wellness right now.  I'm not unhealthy, but the number on my scale is bothering me.

GTKY: What is your favorite restaurant

    Cheddar's
  • @MetsGirl18 what area are your parents in that they have a churrascaria?  If it's anything like the ones in rural Brazil, I want to go!  And I don't mean the chains like Fogo de Chão, Texas de Brazil, etc. I want authentic!

  • @Nxy I fully believe potatoes are one of God's greatest creations. I would absolutely be ALL OVER that restaurant! What is it called?
  • NxyNxy member
@AdvoCyndi30 It's called Kartoffel, it's in Trier Germany if you're ever around. Kartoffel literally means potato in german lol.

  • @Nxy My dad graduated from Frankfurt High School! My grandfather was in the Army. Maybe one day I'll convince him to travel back to Germany for a visit!

We just ate at a German restaurant the other day and he says it just doesn't compare to authentic German food.
  • @bumpybump They're in NY.  It's actually a Portuguese restaurant.  I don't know exactly how authentic it is, but it's easy for us to be satisfied with a rotation of at least 10 different kinds of skewers of meat being offered to our table.  My kids ask to go there whenever we visit my parents and they always eat more there than any other restaurant.

  • @MetsGirl18 ok. It sounds more like the typical Brazilian steakhouses in the US then if it's lots of skewers of meat passed around. Brazil speaks Portuguese so I'm guessing it's the same.

@AdvoCyndi30 it's absolutely worth a trip. If I could move my family here easily I'd never leave. Apparently they have like jobs and stuff or whatever and can't just move out of the country. Excuses..

German food can be great. I mostly just really really enjoy the authentic Italian places within driving distance. The Italian eiscafe the next town over has set an unrealistic expectation for all future ice cream establishments. Maybe I need to move to Italy lol

  • @bumpybump I'm curious what the difference is with what you experienced in rural Brazil.  All of the ones I've been to in the U.S., both chain and non-chain, have skewers of various types of meat sliced table side.  Have you found any truly authentic ones here?
Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • @MetsGirl18 no, I haven't found one like I had in Brazil here. The closest I've come is an Ecuadorian restaurant locally. Basically, you get meat (one kind, not 15 ;)), beans, rice, and cheese bread (round rolls with cheese inside). You are full of yummy food but not overly stuffed like the Brazilian Steakhouse chains.  I really think the typical US resident thinks all Brazilians just stuff themselves at every meal.

  • @bumpybump Thanks for the explanation.  U.S. restaurants tend to take portion sizes and all you can eat concepts to the extreme.
