Registries - Best option?

Hi everyone!

Has anyone tried out BabyList for previous registries? How has it gone in the past?

I like that you can add literally anything to it, even a local Friends of the Zoo membership. But I'm worried some people (i.e. my mom's older friends) won't like using it because you can't just go to Buy Buy Baby or wherever and look up the registry under the person's name. It seems like it might be a problem for those who don't shop online.

It's a little early to start looking at registries, but I want to have a place where I can save ideas for things I want to have down the road!

Thanks!!

Re: Registries - Best option?

  • I'd recommend having an online option and a brick and mortar option. Some people, especially older people, 100% want to be able to buy from a store.

  • My register has been done for 2 weeks haha (but I'm having an early shower b/c I need to travel for it). I'd also suggest adding in a second store and just putting a few things on there for people who like to go to an actual store. One thing I didn't like about Baby List was that there wasn't a completion discount (at least that I noticed).

Edited because I misunderstood what you were saying. I would do at least two just so people who don't shop online can go into a store. If it's only a couple of people, then you can share the store registry with just them. Beware though, that if you don't give people options, they may buy elsewhere and you may get stuff you don't want.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @megmralph a friend of mine used Baby List to gather all of her registeries. Baby List had everything in one convenient place but still gave the option to click through to the actual store website to purchase.

Can't you have a Target/BBB/whatever registry and then link that over to BabyList?

    ETC: BabyLink to BabyList. LOL.

  • Yes! As PPs said, you can create your registries at separate stores, but access them all from BabyList. It's nice because you can manage them all in one place but still get the bonuses/discounts from each of the individual stores/sites.
  • I used Babylist during my pregnancy with DS3, and I absolutely loved it! It was convenient because our friends could shop at any store or online site and it kept track of the purchases. For the bigger items, I recommend going to stores and trying out items you like and then adding them to the list, but that's mainly because online shopping scares me! Lol I have nothing bad to say about it.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like individual stores are the way to go - then compile them on BabyList. I appreciate it!
