Bay Area Baby Shower Location and can't afford much...

Throwing a baby shower but have quite the dilemma...I live in a studio apartment, don't have friends with a party room for rent at their apartments, I can't afford to pay for 30ish people at a restaurant. I'm at a loss! Everything is so expensive and even if I'm paying for party snacks/drinks I can't afford to rent a space that's going to cost hundreds of dollars. I feel bad, but I'm living paycheck to paycheck these days :( Are there any affordable suggestions I could look into? Or alternative baby shower ideas to the traditional rules that I can squeeze by? I'd appreciate any help! My friends and I live in San Jose, but some of the family would be coming from the East Bay so I'm open to locations all over Bay Area. I've seen people on a budget having baby showers, share your secrets :) Thank you!

    Just do it in a public park. Friends of mine did Lake Merritt and it was great. They brought a tent to go over the food, but you don't have to.
