  • This weekend is relaxing for me. Take down my braids and cook dinner with DH.
  • I have to go shopping this weekend. DS1 has outgrown his uniform shorts, DS2 needs bigger sneakers (these boys grow so dang fast!), and DD needs some summer dresses now that the weather is so nice. I also have to go to the grocery.
  • Heading to Costco today. Then to the post office to mail off a birthday gift for a gift exchange for a baby in my previous BMB. And DD is saying bye bye to bottles this weekend.

  • Just finished watching 13 Reasons why...heavy. Taking my daughter to the laundromat...have to go to my cousin's baby blessing tomorrow. Also still doing Spring Cleaning...Happy Easter Weekend everyone!
  • Having a slow lazy morning because the last few days have been very busy and my body is feeling it. Then have a baby shower this afternoon for a close friends Daughter in law. Excited to leave my 2 year old with my Dad since the showers during naptime and just get to relax and enjoy. Tonight my toddlers binkies are officially going bye bye so I'll need the energy!
  • Running the pup out today so we can go to a friend's BBQ tonight. DH is doing a 'brewery bike crawl' with friends during the day. Getting all the free Saturday drunken fun out of his system! Tomorrow -brunch with his family.

Side Note: April the giraffe had her damn baby!!!
    TW:
    1 infant loss
    8/17: Our daughter was born
8/18: Our daughter kicked open heart surgery ass
2/19: We lost our son to Prader-Willi/Paradoxical Vocal Cord/ Noonans at 6wks old
    4/26/2020: EDD for baby #3!!!
  • STM+ moms, what are you putting in your kid's Easter baskets? I'm so excited because DS is old enough to hunt eggs this year.  His basket from last year has small handles on the sides, so I found a small canvas tote bag with a bunny face and ears that he can use when hunting. I put that, the old Charlottes Web movie on DVD  (he loves it, but they took it off the HBO app), some foam bath letters, and a little water bottle with Kion from the Lion Guard (his favorite show). I think we're going to add a couple snacks like a tube of mini M&Ms and some yogurt covered raisins. I had some balloons and a helium tank left over and tied those to the basket. That's enough,  right?
  • Dog had to get his hair cut today, so we walked to that appointment.  Its up a very large hill, so that was interesting. We are back home and doing more touch up renos, mainly painting and getting moulding up. My painting clothes don't fit so well any more. I have an old pair of leggings for pants and they will not stay over my belly! Its driving me insane!   Tomorrow we have church, and then DHs parents coming to over, and going to lunch, but then back to our place for dessert. I made homemade fresh banana ice cream (not the kind where you just freeze bananas, but real ice cream) and I'm going to make mini strawberry cheesecakes tonight. I have Monday off (it's Boston marathon day, so it's a state holiday, called patriots day) so we are going to head into the city and enjoy the warm weather and the marathon.

  • @SouthernMama15
Our boys are around the same age, and your basket sounds awesome! We put some stickers,  coloring book, book, lollipops, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles in ours.  Nothing too crazy,  I don't want Easter to become a big gift holiday!

  • @kristenk727 I may see if I can find a book, he does love to read. He has color wonder stuff he got for Christmas and he's more interested in stacking the markers than coloring.  I don't want to go over the top, but I do want this year to be special as he's big enough to know what's going on and it's his last holiday as an only child.
  • @SouthernMama15 that sounds just right to me, exciting but not too much. Pretty much what I got my 2 year old DD was from the dollar spot at target- bubbles, some easter socks, paw patrol crayons and book, stickers, etc. nothing to fancy. Then some small candy, fruit snacks and change for her piggy bank in the Easter eggs to hide. She loves finding the eggs so they could have been empty and she'd still enjoy it. It's a fun age as she starts to get excited about these sort of things!
  • This morning I went for a nice, slow 7 mile run with another Mom due in July. Then I took my two girls to visit my grandmother & aunt for Easter. On the way back we stopped at Toys R Us because the girls had very old gift cards. I walked by the baby stuff and almost couldn't cope. I feel like there is so much stuff I could get to be prepared, but part of me is lazy with #3 just and feels like if you have some diapers/sleepers/a boob you are 95% there and there will just be a lot of Amazon orders the first weeks home...

I am now stuck on the couch with excruciating belly pain because I didn't bring enough fluids with me for post-run or how long we were out and have only consumed one bottle of water all day. Won't make that mistake again.

Baby #3 on the way due 8/19/17

  • We moved my daughter into a full sized bed out of her crib this morning.

Tonight is date night for hubby and I. Our 6th wedding anniversary tomorrow!

But mostly I have been extremely stressed out. My dad had a terrible scare yesterday where they found a HUGE blood clot in his right leg. The whole size of his leg and even up into his joint. Then when he was at the appt he collapsed/passed out and they had to call the rapid response team. Turns out, he is just super squeamish and fainted during the doctor explaining the surgery he was going to have. He's had surgery twice since yesterday and they removed the clot and he's doing really well now. During my last pregnancy my mom was diagnosed with a rare cancer so I just can't seem to get through a pregnancy stress free.
  • I visited my parents the last few days. My mom looooves clothes shopping so I was able to stock up on maternity clothes that will hopefully last me for the rest of the pregnancy. Maybe.

  • @SouthernMama15 that sounds great!  I do a new swimsuit for each kid every year because it's something I have to get them anyway and a nice book.  Then I fill in with chalk, bubbles, and a bit of candy.   This year I also got mad libs for my 6 yr old and stickers for my 4 year old.

they found all of the basket stuff in my closet a few days ago (mom fail) and I didn't have he energy to return and replace the stuff so I guess we'll see if the easter bunny jig is up.
  • @donehue I hope you feel better. That's amazing that you're still running like a champ!
  • I made bacon-jalepeno deviled eggs and sinful mashed potatoes... for Easter dinner. That cracks me up. (Pioneer woman mashed potato recipe calls for sour cream, heavy cream, butter, and cream cheese)
  • We think my 8 year old son is Dyslexic. He compensates well, but he's struggling a little with reading and spelling.

My sister noticed the other day that he closes or covers his left eye when he reads. I asked him and he said it makes the words stop moving around. :-(

To the eye doctor we go tomorrow! Taking him to someone who specializes in a test for tracking issues and weakened eye muscles. Hoping for the best!
  • @donehue 7 miles! Go you!!  Even the short bursts I jog with my dog on our daily walk make me feel terribly odd.

  • @Mango517 it takes a while for things to "settle", so you might feel less odd once you get into it for a bit. A girl in my running group due in Sep/Oct ran Boston yesterday, which makes me feel like a slacker! My body is definitely
starting to set some limits though.

  • @AdvoCyndi30 I am glad you are taking your son to the doctor.  And that someone noticed. A lot of times kids don't say anything, not realizing there might be something that can be done to help them. Hoping you get answers and options and that whatever is causing the issue is on the easy side to address.

  • @AdvoCyndi30 soooo glad you got some answers and it can be worked on and improved. I am sure he will feel better, that can not have made reading or even seeing clearly very easy. Those types of therapies can work wonders.

  • @AdvoCyndi30 2 of my younger cousins did vision therapy and it was a huge help. Glad y'all were able to get him in and get answers/solutions quickly!
  • I'm just amazed at how you would NEVER KNOW if you were just hanging out with him. He has truly compensated so well. His reading and spelling grades are lower than his others, but he isn't failing. He's a very critical thinker and he's so so smart. He has never said anything about his eyes until he had to take a long test this year in reading.

It's always been one one of those things where we've always assumed he was just better at math and science...

I'm excited to see how he improves.

Those both sound ah-mazing. Would you mind sharing the bacon-jalapeño deviled egg recipe? That's right up my alley.

@AdvoCyndi30 I'm so happy to hear you guys got answers, and your DS is getting special glasses & therapy. It's heart-breaking when they're little and can't communicate their needs directly!

    edit for grammar
  • @AdvoCyndi30 Im so glad you got answers so quickly!  Little kids in glasses is the cutest thing in the world too.  My sister has had glasses for years, and her little ones were adorable (even though she hates the photos).  Im so glad your DS is getting everything he needs!
