Fetal Doppler

Hi all so this is my fourth pregnancy and i only have 1 living child. I picked up a pocket fetal doppler and i swear i heard my babys heart beat(too fast to be mine lol) today problem is im only about 9ish weeks according to dating ultrasound. But they havent changed my due date to match so therefore i would be almost ten. Have any of you or your dr heard your babys heart beat on doppler yet? How far are you?

Re: Fetal Doppler

  • I know some have as early as 8 weeks.

  • @baby3forme glad im not alone in this lol next monday i will go to midwife and she will check with fetal doppler im just as impaitent as everyone else lol
  • I am just over 9 weeks and was able to hear it the last few days. Can be hard to find at this stage though so try not to stress if you find it one day and have a harder time another day. Easier said than done, I know!

  • I hear it loud and clear at 9 weeks.
  • I could hear it at 8-9 weeks with my last pregnancy. This one the baby is way further back so I tried once a couple days ago and haven't tried again yet. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow.
  • Finally just heard a baby's heartbeat using the home fetal doppler at 9w 5 days!  What a relief.  Approx 168 bpm. I have twins and I only found one, but I barely found that one, so.. I'm prob not good enough at it to find/distinguish between two different babies this early. It took a little longer for me to find since I had a tilted uterus.

  • I have one from my last pregnancy Nd haven't tried it yet. I'm 9 weeks. I think I'll try it soon!
  • What is the best brand of at home doppler to use?
  • @hbral12 I use the Sonoline B doppler - heard lots of good things about it and I like it a lot.

I don't know why, but it won't let me leave a picture. Anyway, I have a Sonoline fetal Doppler. It works really well, I have never had a problem with it. I just listened to this baby's heartbeat with it for the first time today and it already worked at 9 weeks!
  • The dr couldn't find mine on the doppler at 12 weeks! Had to send me down for an ultrasound.
  • @baker1jm2 we heard it well with the transvagibal ultrasound at my appointment, but I was surprised to hear it at home so early. I knew it was low, so I started right above my pubic region and it took me a minute to find it. I only heard it for ten seconds or so before I lost it, but I still heard it!!!
  • Where is everyone buying their Doppler? This is my first pregnancy after a loss and I'm a little paranoid  :#

  • @TheLovingWife  I bought mine from babydoppler.com, but you can buy them at walmart too! I think they are like $35-$40.  After 2 losses I find so much comfort in hearing my babys heartbeat.

I heard mine at 8 weeks 5 days.. didn't find it for a few days, but we had an ultrasound and there it was flickering away! Now I find it almost immediately at almost 12 weeks.

@TheLovingWife I bought mine at fetaldoppler.net. I can't hear baby's heartbeat yet but I'm also overweight and have a tipped uterus so I already knew it'd be hard for me to find baby's heartbeat so early.

  • Just wanted to share my experience with anyone who has tried to find HB with doppler this early and failed... I had an OB appt this morning and my doc couldn't get the heartbeat on the doppler. She did a quick ultrasound to check and all was great! I'm 9 + 2. So, if a trained professional can't find it, don't freak if you can't! My advice...wait until we are further along!!!!
  • I love my portable sonoline B 3mz. Happy listening all!
  • I heard mine at 8 weeks 4 days and I was so thrilled. The next few times I tried I couldn't find it, didn't start consistently finding it until about 10 weeks, now I know exactly where it is and how to find it so the process is pretty quick, but it's definitely something I would air on the side of caution with, especially if you're feeling anxious.
  • I got mine today! I am 10 weeks, 5 days, first try I couldn't find it and on the second try we found it briefly, but very exciting! I'm going to try to limit myself to finding it like once a week, I'm sure it's kind of addicting! ❤️
  • @Gatorgirl2009 I limit myself to once a week too. It's not easy but I think it's better.

Found mine yesterday, 148! Just a few seconds, though, as someone did not want to be spied on! I listened a little longer trying to catch it but could only faintly hear it under the roar of my blood flow/ placenta/ pizza/ whatever else was going on! Baby was a little higher up over public bone than I expected at my ultrasound a week and s half ago, so I tried that spot first and it was right! I use the sonoline b. I'm 10w today.
  • I agree listening only once a week is hard but it gives me something to look forward to!
  • I think it's funny because I have found this baby's heartbeat with my angelsounds Doppler for about 1.5 weeks but my doctor was super impatient looking yesterday and just skipped to the sono. Not complaining about getting to see my baby though! :)
  • I have an angelsounds doppler, and am really struggling to hear anything with it! I know the instructions say best after 14 weeks, but I thought if I was patient I could hear at home sooner (I'm 12+3 right now). All my ultrasounds (at 6, 8, and 10.5 weeks) have been a-ok, and I have another scheduled for next week. Suppose I just need to be patient??  :s

  • @ideamainline you are right, just be patient! It's still hard. I've used mine (diff brand) twice and heard it. The first time was pretty easy and I heard a strong heartbeat. Second time was a lot harder to find it and it took like ten minutes to find it and then I only had it for a few seconds. Frustrating! Don't worry, though. Baby is still ver low (probably below pubic bone) and little. I'm sure your baby is fine!
