Difficulty peeing....?

So google has not been my friend. I plan to bring it up at my upcoming appointment, but was wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

Lately, I've had difficulty like fully emptying my bladder. Like I sometimes actually have to PUSH the pee out, and it can come in like little spurts over and over until it's mostly out. It's not alllll the time, but it's pretty annoying.

Anyone else dealing with this? Or know what might be causing it? Also, it's not a UTI. I'm trying not to be worried that the baby is like stuck around my bladder or something crazy haha.

  • The only thing I know of that can cause that is a UTI, so I'm not much help. I really feel like if it was something like the baby being lodged someone crazy you would be in a lot of pain, though.

  • If you're sure it's not a uti.. I'm going to agree with @wyomama0427. I had that happen a couple times during my last pregnancy, then baby would move and it was easier to pee.

  • I don't have this problem really,  but i noticed if I wait to long to pee, and its a long one, i have to push a little out near the end.  Maybe you're waiting too long to pee. But I have read what @wyomama0427 said about leaning forward. Try that when you first start.  Our bodies are all doing or will start to do weird things now that the babies are getting bigger and can move things around.  Hopefully at your next appointment, your dr. can maybe give you some better advice.
  • I wouldn't say it's a difficulty peeing, but sometimes I pee really slowly now, and I can feel it's hard to push it faster. I've just assumed it was the position of the baby/my uterus when I sit down.

  • I occasionally have the pee in spurts / bladder not emptying fully when it feels like Laurel is really low in my pelvis. It goes away when she moves to a different position though.
  • I don't have difficult in the act of peeing but, definitely with fully emptying. I can sometimes pee.... pull my pants up. Pull them right back down and pee again. It just feels like no matter how many times I go there is always something in there. I had this with my DS too, I just chalk it up to things pushing other things  around in there. It is very frustrating though... sometimes I find myself going several times an hour.

  • I had occasional difficulty when I was pregnant with DD- like others said, sometimes just moving around helped it. I know some people think it is gross, but I pee in the shower and it seems to help :)

  • @mrs_tacos yeesssssss both wth this pregnancy and with DS I had to push hard to get it all out if felt like!
  • Me!! I will sit there for a few minutes afterwards and continue to pee in small spurts lol. It's annoying!

  • I know you said it is not a UTI. Are you certain? When was your latest urinalysis? Because they typically only check for protein at appointments when you leave the sample.  It could be positional, but in all honesty, this is a question that you should bring up with your doctor because you should be retested for UTI to rule it out. You don't want something lingering and it might be a mostly asymptotic infection.  If it were me, I would not wait until my next appointment. I would call in when the office opens at the beginning of the week.

But, I'm pretty confident that the baby is not stuck in your bladder. I wouldn't worry about that.
  • Thanks everyone! It's gotten better, it happens mostly when I wake up or have a lot to empty out like some of you mentioned. It just feels like it's never really fully empty lol. Super annoying. Glad I'm not alone!
  • I've been having the same issue where it's harder to push out or I stand up and feel like I haven't even peed. It is better when I lean over.

  • I had that problem with my first and it started after like 12weeks and lasted the whole pregnancy. Sorry but I never found a cure. It was really shitty. ): But I stopped drinking any liquid at 6pm to avoid getting up to pee drops 20 times a night. The good news is the first pee after delivery is the most amazing pee of your life your like omg I really emptied my bladder it's been so long !!!

Omg the first pee after delivery was the most horrifying expierence for me! It's so funny how everyone is so different. I actually had such a hard time the only way I could even relax my downstairs enough to even allow pee out was I f I was sitting in warm water... which was a real fricken blast. I will cross all my fingers and toes that this time around the first tinkle mimics more of your experience! Lol!

  • Ha the first pee after delivery. I had a c-section so I was extremely surprised when the nurse took me to the bathroom for the first pee and still sprayed me with the spray bottle haha!
  • Every time I urinate while pregnant, it is like this for me. I used to think it was a uti with my first, but it wasn't. They test my urine at all visits. I don't have any incontinence issues either, so it's not that. I wouldn't be surprised if I hold my bladder too long, because I am a hairstylist and it's practically a requirement.
  • I've had the not emptying full bladder experience and still do at times. I go about my way afterward and feel like I have to pee again. Mention it to your doctor but most likely it's normal. Post delivery this was so annoying!
  • So I've noticed this and leaning forward helps but actually I stand up and wiggle my legs a little bit once I'm done peeing and then try to go again and it seems to help.
