Be band vs. Pant extender

I've been using a hair tie to help my pants fit but the zipper gap is finally open enough that I need something to cover my undaroos. I had a be band with my last pregnancy and I  used it a lot in spite of the fact that it drove me nuts when it started rolling and bunching. I almost bought one yesterday, but I also saw the pant extender that hooks into your regular buttons and has a scrap of fabric to cover the zipper gap. Have any STM+ used one of those? I'm not convinced that the fabric to cover the zipper gap will stay put, but if it works better than the be band I might grab that instead.
I'll really only need to use them for regular clothes on days off since my chef pants have an elastic waistband.

Re: Be band vs. Pant extender

  • I hated the bands. Any kind. Did not work for me. Pant extenders are best.

  • I skipped the above and either wore leggings, pants with stretch, or a dress / maternity pants when the bloat was too much last time and this time. It does vary by day and time of day. Most people I've seen answer this question before say they regret trying to fit in pants that are too tight once they move on.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • HATED the band. So annoying. I covered the hair tie with a long shirt, though this time I switched to my maternity pants early because comfort.

  • I hated the be band. The hair tie trick only works for so long and I now I just wear leggings (thank you my LLR selling SIL) and dresses

Hated the bands, too. If you're going to buy maternity pants (I've only ever heard a couple women say they didn't) and you ARE going to need them, just bite the bullet and do it. Get even more use out of them! JMO, I'm sure there are other schools of thought;)

  • Agree with all of the above. I went with the pant extender in my first pregnancy... This time I just started wearing maternity pants. Nothing worse than squeezing into too tight pants when you already don't feel great!
  • Pant extender and maternity pants. I have a band but I never used it because I couldn't stand the rolling and shifting. It never stayed put! With my first I used a hair band for as long as possible before I broke down and bought maternity pants and I was so GLAD I finally bought the pants. So much more comfortable! This time I'll probably do something similar, hair band until my pants just don't fit, then the maternity pants.

  • @armstrongatron I'm so glad someone already asked this! I've been wondering too. (Although, if I can figure out how to wear LLR leggings everyday, I might just do that.)
  • I got a 'belly button band" last time, agree that the b band is super annoying.  Google belly button band, it has a bunch of button holes and a movable button so you put the button through the hole in your pants and your pants button through the hole in the band. On top of that is a loose band that hangs down to cover your zipper so that it looks like you are wearing a long undershirt.
