Random Thread: 4/11

A couple of random thoughts I need to discuss.

Just finished the first season of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix.  I'm obsessed.  I can't wait to start season two tonight at 2am when I wake up and can't fall back asleep...

Watching RHOBH reunion.  Dorit is the WORST and if they bring her back I'm going to have to spend another season fast forwarding over her and her gross husband.

I need to make a menu and get my butt in gear for my kiddo's third birthday in under two weeks.  Any quick, easy, make ahead recipes welcome!  We are probably grilling chicken and burgers, so anything that kinda goes with that.

  • Also, I changed my username but it's not updating.  Annoying.

  • My husband has been out of town for a week so I am really behind on homework, but I'm watching Real Housewives of New York. Oops
  • Oh and I'm finally getting my oven fixed tomorrow! It's been broken for a couple months.
  • What?!  I would go crazy without an oven!  No frozen pizzas?  It's a good thing you are getting it fixed early on in this pregnancy... haha
  • @tamaraaaa I really miss frozen pizza. I can't wait to bake all the things!
  • I have a problem with those 4 cheese shredded beef frozen burritos in the oven. I couldn't live without them

  • Anyone been lurking on TTGP today? Holy cow that 'changes to grad' thread went downhill  :D at least I now know for sure I made the right decision not posting my BFP there.. holy hell...

  • Of course I just went to read it now, whoa.  They were all really nice to me the whole week I was there.
  • @jlemons-2 me too! And I kind of feel bad cause I felt like I did get invested in a few ladies there and I would like to go back and post how I'm rooting for them, but it feels weird now... so I won't, because there are some comments there that are CLEARLY in reference to me and in a negative sense... it's kind of sad when you think you develop relationships and the other side doesn't feel the same. Oh well. You live and learn.

@alyssaleighw it's another message board on the bump TTGP stands for Trying To Get Pregnant. A few of us had been posting there regularly before we got our BFPs and moved to here.

  • Ooh, sounds like some good bedtime reading. I miss the 24/7 shenanigans that used to be on the Bump. I hate drama and want no part of it personally. But watching from a safe distance? Yep, I'm guilty!

  • I'm all about drama that is not on my board and that I'm not involved in...
  • @kvacmak I saw the TTGP thread you mentioned. Wowee. I missed the TOUs but I can just imagine... Were you the one expecting to "get chased down" to come back and post? That was the only negative I remember.

OP The Great British Baking Show is so good. The season 2 winner really surprised me. But so did season 1. Mel and Sue are so annoying though.

  • @stillclever17 ya I guess it was a little ambitious of me to hope... there was also a comment a couple days ago about my FFFC last week basically implying I wasn't good enough to post in the grad thread and have no right to be upset about it, and someone else posted a 'cry me a river' gif in response. I mean, I guess it just means I did the right thing by quietly moving on to this board.

  • @tamaraaaa  I couldn't agree more!!! Dorit and PK are the worst! I know I shouldn't talk about people I don't personally know... or really period... but they signed up for a reality show soooo that cracks the door right?... :#  Our TV isn't working at the moment, so I can't watch the first part of the reunion but now I'm dying toooooo

Actually I think I'm going to watch it online. I can't wait. hahaha

that was a totally frivolous comment but sometimes we need to banter about useless s#!* right?!?!
  • The first part of the reunion was calm, things will get good next week I think.  I can't STAND Dorit or PK...  Totally delusional people.

I tried to go find the TTGP but it looks like it's all been deleted.
  • I'm obsessed with the Great British Baking Show and I LOVE Mel and Sue. Especially after watching the American version. Ew.

  • @tamaraaaa I love the Great British Baking Show! I am so sad that it moved networks and most everyone jumped ship so I don't think any new seasons will be good :( Also, what aired on PBS as the first season was not actually the first season in Great Britain, so I'm wondering if they will ever release the earlier ones.

I guess my UO is that I support the TTGP flow chart and the grad thread posting practices. I seem to be a fertile myrtle, albeit not particularly lucky in having a pregnancy with legs, and was supposed to be benched as I was awaiting RPL testing and managed to get KTFU on a hole in one after my ***TW MC /TW*** That chart helped me make the decision not to post in the grad post even though I have been participating on and off since maybe January or so? But with now 2 BFPs since then and not a lot of activity in the TWW or WTO threads due to that I decided it would be better to just pass go and head straight to my BMB. I feel like the general rule of thumb should be if you're questioning posting in the grad thread, you probably shouldn't post. It's really really easy to get invested in other people's journeys, but it's not quite as easy to remember that people are likely not as equally invested in yours (in the general sense) if you're new-ish.  Different strokes for different folks, though.

  • @drablnd I sincerely miss the crazy that was the tri boards. They have been so dead the last year or so.

  • Has anyone watched 13 Reasons Why? My husband and I just started watching it last night and we are totally sucked in! I'm so annoyed I have to wait for him to continue watching lol
  • @alyssaleighw I'm on episode 3 or 4 and I love it!! Some of the girls at work have finished it already and they said it is amazing!

  • @vauxthekate ahh! It's so addicting! We watched three episodes as well. Can't wait to know why! Haha
  • @alyssaleighw Yes a couple of my friends are watching in so I gave in and started. I am on episode 9. All I keep wondering is why all of these kids have tattoos lol.

  • Is it wrong that I find Tony (from 13 reasons) attractive? I know he's supposed to be like 17 but he's hot...and his mustang is awesome! lol

  • The Parenting board used to be the nut house and I loved it when I was pumping, or up in the middle of the night.  I was so sad when it blew up.
  • @flowerpower5838 my husband was saying the same thing "how do these teenagers have tattoos?!" Hahaha
  • @alyssaleighw, @vauxthekate, @flowerpower5838 My husband makes fun of me because he thinks it's a kid's show so I watch it on the sly when he's not around.  @vauxthekate Tony, yum. And I feel disgusting admitting that because he is playing a high school guy. Oh well.
  • It's okay to think Tony's hot! He's 25 irl!!! I watched the whole series in 3 days. It is probably one of the best TV shows I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot.

  • @vvitchhazel this makes me so excited to finish it!! Ahhhh can't wait! Lol
  • I'm sorry @kvacmak I wouldn't worry too much about it. @flowerpower5838 As someone who came from TTGP, I totally understand the desire to try to limit drive bys in the grad thread and make (awesome) flow charts. However, I'm on the side of it really making no difference. People will still post drive bys and newbs will still post instead of just going to their BMB. It doesn't hurt anything to make the change, and it's definitely not worth arguing over, but the proposed changes will make absolutely zero difference.

BUT I'm not trying to make this thread about TTGP lol.

I haven't seen 13 Reasons Why, but when I saw the preview, I was worried it may glorify suicide. As someone who works with teenagers, I worry a lot about that.

  • @stillclever17 It seems more to be teaching more awareness on how you treat others, to always be kind because you never know the affect you have on their life or what they may be going through. As someone who was bullied terribly, I appreciate that aspect. However, I am only 3 episodes in, so I am not sure on the outcome. Lol
