Waiting Room Wednesday - April 5

***General TW that this thread might contain discussions mentioning MC and loss.***

Welcome to Waiting Room Wednesday!
You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on not TTC and connect with others who are in the same boat. TTC can be a long journey, and having to wait makes it feel even longer -- even if it is for a good reason. I invite you to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Benched = involuntarily not NTNP/TTC and "out of the game," usually due to medical reasons
TTA = avoiding pregnancy by using protection or FAM, usually for non-health-related reasons __________________________________________________________________

Are you benched or TTA?

What brings you here?

How long do you think you'll be here?

How have things been going?

Any R/R?

Re: Waiting Room Wednesday - April 5

  • Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Waiting for my husband to be ready for #2

How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully just another month or two.

How have things been going? My husband and I finally sat down and talked things over. He still won't commit to a hard timeline but I'm hoping May or June. It kills me not to be able to plan ahead but it is what it is I guess. I'm annoyed and frustrated.

Any R/R? I bought $20 worth of PNV at lunch Monday just for them to melt in my car  :s

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? I like the mini candies. It's just the right amount! Milky Way is my current favorite.

  • @notthefather - As a planner I completely understand how frustrating it is to not have a specific start date. But it's great that you and your husband were able to sit down and discuss TTC.

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Waiting for the right time.

How long do you think you'll be here? Beginning of May.

How have things been going? Things are going ok. Work is so busy that it's causing me to have major anxiety. And because of my anxiety, I think we are going to wait until after our holiday to start TTC. I don't really understand why I'm so anxious right now, I've done all this work before.

    Any R/R? See above.

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? Laura Secord mini cream eggs. They are only available around Easter, so I will be stocking up.

  • @notthefather - I am glad you got to talk things over. My DH is the same ay about committing to an exact time and it is driving me crazy!

    Are you benched or TTA?
    TTA

What brings you here? Waiting for DH's timeline to catch up to mine and to be past grad school graduation date to be past a due date (which it almost is :) )

How long do you think you'll be here? Mayish

How have things been going? Ok - I am so ready for it to be May! :)

Any R/R? none at the moment

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? All of it! I have a major sweet tooth. Dove milk chocolate is always good. My favorite candy bars lately have been Twix or Milky Way.

@notthefather dude that sucks about the PNV!!!! I would be so mad!

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Waiting for May!

How long do you think you'll be here? About 30 more days. Pretty sure my last birth control pill will be the 5th of May or so.

How have things been going? Good! I can't believe we are only a month away from starting. I'm tempted not to start my next pack of pills to give my body some time to regulate but we have some stuff going on in May and I'd like to NOT be on my period at certain times. Plus I don't want to use condoms. And neither does H.

Any R/R? Nada. Last night H and I talked a little bit about how close we are. He's still on board and although he's still a little freaked out by the idea he is like, "it's time." So that is good!

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? Mostly reeses. Can't go wrong with a snickers. If I'm not feeling chocolatey then I like sour stuff!
  • @notthefather ...Do you still have the receipt? Take them back and say that they were like that when you opened them. Yay for having had the talk, but hopefully he'll be able to give you a firm timeline soon!
@ChloandCoco Hopefully your anxiety will calm down soon! That's definitely not fun at all. Anxiety sucks :(
@glitzandglitter Twix and Milky Way are amazing!
@UterusesBeforeDuderuses You're almost there! I'm so excited for you!

Are you benched or TTA? Still benched! Stupid back and money problems :(

What brings you here? The chatter with you lovely ladies is helping me stay sane while stuck at home.

How long do you think you'll be here? Hopefully not past the end of the summer, but we'll see!

How have things been going? The last couple of days have been hectic. My mom finally got into town on Monday and we went for dinner, then she and my dad left to go deal with some stuff for my uncle. They got back into town this morning and we spent the day at Epcot. It was nice to have someone other than my husband to talk to, because even though I love him very much, I just want some other human contact lately.

Any R/R? Not that I can think of right now. I might just be too tired.

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? I have a sweet tooth, so there are a few, but I'm a sucker for just about anything caramel. Aside from that, I love Kit Kats, Twix, Milky Way, Mars Bars (the kind from the UK), Cadbury mini eggs, Reeses cups, Rolos, and sour watermelon. And gummies! ... Yeah, it's no wonder I'm fat.

  • Sorry I've been MIA for a few days!! So much going on!!

Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? Just waiting for DH to be on board, and mostly to be better financially.

How long do you think you'll be here? Probably until end of August at the earliest, potentially longer :/

How have things been going? Not bad, just SO BUSY!!!

Any R/R? Rave: Went and saw Pump and Dump last night with a couple Mom friends!!! It was hilarious!! And it was a needed night out. My DH and one other H got to watch all three kids because the third H had class that night, haha. So DH definitely got a feel for what it's like to have more than one kid to maintain, and he said it really went pretty well!

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? I went through a Milk Duds phase, always love m&ms (bonus for dark chocolate!), peanut butter anything, raspberry filled chocolates, caramel anything. I'm really not too picky, main thing is no coconut!! And I'm not a huge fan of almonds or hazelnuts, but I've had a couple things with either of those that I've enjoyed.

  • @notthefather Oh man, I did that with super fancy organic lunchmeat I bought as a treat yesterday - left it in the car all day.  The worst!  But I'm so glad you had a good talk about TTC, even if it didn't end up with a hard timeline.  Feels like progress though!

    Are you benched or TTA?
    TTA at the moment.

    What brings you here?
Waiting to lose the last few pounds of baby weight.  (Lost another pound FINALLY today, so 13 to go.)

How long do you think you'll be here?
Well, we were going to start in May but I decided to push to June, but when I was looking at my period tracker app last night I realized that even if we push, my fertile window will start on May 31st, so it's still technically May!  I know it's a small thing, lol, but that made me happy.  :)

    How have things been going?
Okay.  I'm terrible at calorie counting and I hate it, but I've been doing it religiously this week and it's paid off so far with 1 pound.  Hoping for at least 6 more gone this month!

    Any R/R?
Why aren't there more hours in the day?  And why can't I magically lose weight with no effort?  ;)

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy?
I love the dark chocolate Milky Ways and any kind of peanut butter cup.
  • @maureenmce congrats on the weight loss!! I would be excited about May 31st too!
  • Are you benched or TTA? TTA

What brings you here? I've got BOTB, but we are not both on board with TTC due to financial/my school related constraints.

How long do you think you'll be here? At least until I'm done with school in June, realistically longer than that. I want to have a decent and on going (no switching plans part way- like I'd have to if I start now as a student) health insurance.

How have things been going? Well, I've felt suprisingly "together" this week. It is week one of my school term, so I'm full of hope.  :D

    Any R/R? Nope, see above

GTKY: What is your favorite kind of candy? Any sort of dark chocolate. I've grown accustom to it. Perhaps because I had a teacher in HS who would allow us to eat dark chocolate in class (but not other candy) and she even sometimes passed it out! Because it had "heart healthy antioxidants". I knew a loophole when I saw one and I developed a taste for it! It's like strong coffee or spicy food though, you can't go back to the mild stuff once you develope the taste.
  • @tumbleweed When I was in culinary school, one of my chef instructors passed around what she said was chocolate and told everyone to take a piece, but to wait until she was explaining to eat it. This made me suspicious, lol, so when she told everyone to try it, I nibbled on the edge of it instead of doing what the other twelve people in my class did. They all just popped it into their mouths. It wasn't chocolate. It was discs of cocoa masse, and it was DISGUSTING. Cocoa masse is just the solids, so there's no cocoa butter in it. Basically, cocoa powder in disc form. Thought you might appreciate that little anecdote, lol. I can't do any darker than about 48-52% dark.

This reminds me of the time I tried to make chocolate milk with cocoa powder

  • I did that once when I was a kid. Didn't realize it wasn't the same thing as Quik. Never again, lol.

  • @dreamscapes_ -  That is a funny story! Good catch with the caution on your part. I fell for that as a child too. When my mom would bake brownies and you start with just the chocolate powder and melted butter mixed together and it smells SO good. I'd always ask for a little taste of it, and she would say no. One time she let me try some of it (probably to get me to leave her alone and stop asking! lol). It was so bitter. How can it smell so amazing?
  • @tumbleweed I think it's because it still has cacao in it, even though the cocoa butter isn't in it. But yeah, it really is very bitter! We also have a container of dark cocoa powder, since my husband loooooves dark chocolate cake and buttercream.
