Trigger shot question for anyone who has had one!

I'm currently on my first cycle of using Follistim and Pregnyl. Currently CD6 and I've been monitored every 3 days. On CD5, I had 2 follicles measuring 10mm so my doc kept me on the same dosage (75iu) of Follistim. I'm feeling nauseous, some headaches, crampy, and tired. I am trying to plan out some travel and I just haven't had a chance to ask my doctor if once I am told to do the trigger shot and the timed intercourse he will still need to see me every 3 days. Anyone who has had experience with this, once you administer the trigger shot do you just wait until you have your beta quant? Or will I need to go back in for ultrasounds and blood draws every couple days? Thank you!!!

  • Hi @klpangrcic - after ovulation and trigger, generally I don't see my clinic again until the end of my TWW - unless AF comes early.
    Good luck!

  • klpangrcic The only thing that made it hard for timing for us was sometimes I would ovulate later than expected and usually my RE never wanted to me trigger more than 24 hours after seeing me, so sometimes it would mean coming back every other day until the follies were ideal, but same as funkykey, once I triggered they would just give us all our instructions on a sheet to follow until AF showed up.
  • I did trigger than iui 36 hours later. After iui I don't see my RE until I get a BFP or if it's negative we decide what's next.
  • I triggered for 6 of my 7 IUIs.  Once the insemination was done, I had two weeks of free time.
Me- 39 (turning 40 in April), TTC for the first time ever (since Jan 2015), low ovarian reserve
Married 3/14/14 to my wonderful wife, but her sperm count is rather low
TTC with frozen donor sperm and science

    7 IUIs, 7 BFNs.
2 IVF attempts, both cancelled and converted to IUI, both BFNs.
Decided that my tired old ovaries are ready to retire.
Next step- reciprocal IVF, using my wife's eggs, my uterus!
fresh 5 day transfer (2 embryos) 4/17/17- BFP!
Identical twins "due" 1/2/17 (but anticipated arrival sometime December)

  • Once I do trigger and have the iui I don't have to see my RE until my beta or unless Af begins.
  • My first iui they had me come back on day 7 piui to test progesterone levels- on my 2nd iui they just started me on progesterone 2 days after iui so I didn't need to go back until beta.
