Re: High Risk Check-In 4/4

  • Hellooooooo!

    How far along are you?
    17+6

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
    Type 1 DM

What's the potential impact on you / baby? I don't want to type this question out anymore.. I just liked to learn about you guys.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Actuallllyyy... I just had my spina bifida test drawn, and I came back low risk!! I'm so relieved. Type 1s have a higher chance of neural tube defects, and I am so relieved this extra methyl-folate has been doing something good!! I have my anatomy scan in a week and a half, and my fetal echocardiogram in 3 weeks. So much, so exciting!

    Any concerns currently?
I am really researching banking cord blood!! Anyone ever do that before? I'm probably going to start a thread on it. I'm really leaning towards it, especially since ViaCord used a type 1 pregnancy and birth as a video story testament. All the tears.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
My anxiety/stress level. I feel cray cray all the time and like I want to yell and scream at everyone.

GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently?
So, my husband and I say Mew and Sniss.. like the sound that a rabbit makes. Blow air out of your nose lol. We will say "I Sniss you" or "this is snissful" and it generally means displeasure or something. We're goofs. And we high pitch mew at each other for most of our conversations/texts.

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
    HBP

What's the potential impact on you / baby? Complications due to preeclampsia. Low birth weight.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Still just keeping track of my BP everyday. No other monitoring.

    Any concerns currently?
     None for me.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
My anxiety/stress level as well. I started seeing someone to help manage this during this pregnancy.

GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently?
I have always said are you kidding me a lot. Not sure why.
  • How far along are you? 17+4

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?

    I carry an antibody
What's the potential impact on you / baby?
    Baby can become anemic.
Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Had my titers drawn last week.  No call from the midwife so I am assuming they are still low.
    Any concerns currently?
    Not currently
Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
    N/A
GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently?
I say "shit" a lot.  My DS now likes to say it but I told him he can only say it around me ;)
  • How far along are you?
    18+3
Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?

    I have Turner's Syndrome - only one X when I should have 2
What's the potential impact on you / baby?
Girl baby could have only one as well; boy baby cannot live with Y alone. Most people with Turner's cannot get pregnant naturally - they need IVF if they can even get pregnant. Most never experience puberty. We got lucky with our first baby (I had no idea I had TS then), and REALLY lucky with our boy I am carrying. My OB thinks this is why I've had so many miscarriages - they were supposed to be boys.
Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
None - we got our genetic tests back - baby boy has both his chromosomes!!!
    Any concerns currently?
My morning sickness still comes and goes. No food sounds good. :( I have to force myself to eat.
Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
The patience and serenity to care for a toddler and a newborn when the time comes.
GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently?
You're late; sign the tardy sheet.

  • @eeyorefan215 That's wonderful news!! I'm so fascinated by everything about your genetics. It does make sense about your previous losses having only a Y chromosome .. I know it doesn't ease the sting of loss any more, but it is good to know a probable reason.

  • This is my first time posting on this thread.

    How far along are you?
    18w3d

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
I was diagnosed with gestational diabtetes last week

What's the potential impact on you / baby?  seems like there are tons! :-( increased size, a permanent change in the babies metabolism, still birth. I also now have a 70% chance of developing type 2 diabetes later.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? No

    Any concerns currently?
I've been following the diet and exercise guidelines for a week and I haven't had any change in my blood sugar levels. I failed the test for my fasting number being too high while my 1 hour and 2 hour were both within range and I'm having the same problems. After meals I'm always well below the 120 but my fasting is always over 100.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
    No

GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently?
hmmmm I can't really think of any that aren't typical phrases.

  • I decided to eat Rosas taco tuesday yesterday complete with chips and queso... the literal worst thing for my blood sugar. I'm so upset I did that.. it was all over the place and I was just constantly chasing it with insulin. I can tell I'm getting out of my "low" period and being able to eat whatever I want without spikes. Now I'm seeing spikes and it gives me anxiety watching my blood sugar line go up. It comes back down most of the time without intervention with an hour and a half, but still. The spike is bad. I want a little longer of food bliss before I get all the guilt of hurting baby.

  • Thank you for tagging me, @Sugargirl1019 I will be joining you ladies as a high risker for the rest of this pregnancy. Hello everyone!

How far along are you? 19+2

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring? My baby is believed to have LUTO/PUV

What's the potential impact on you / baby? We could lose the baby, his kidneys may become permanently damaged, and his lungs may not develop well. I don't think my health is at any greater risk other than my worrying has skyrocketed and I may have to have surgery.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? I should get test results in Monday and will find out if I am a candidate for fetal surgery. I also have an appointment with a second specialist Wednesday for a second opinion.

Any concerns currently? I am just literally worried sick, and am hoping for a miracle and the best outcome possible.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now? Please pray that God will heal our LO, and give my husband and I the strength to get through all we are facing for the rest of the pregnancy. Thank you so much for your prayers.

GTKY: What phrase(s) do you say frequently? I say "Good grief!" A lot, and recently have been saying, "You've got to be kitten me right meow" way too much, lol!

  • @stephy_p I read about the possibility of placing a ureteral stent in vitro to try to help drain the urine and not stress the kidneys out. Is that what you're waiting to hear back on?

Just said a prayer for your little boys kidneys to be protected, lungs to develop fully and for you and DH to be able to handle this stress and grow closer together through the trials of this pregnancy. <3 You're in my thoughts!

  • @Sugargirl1019 Yes, I should hear back today on if the baby still has kidney function. If he does, I should be a candidate for the shunt surgery and will be heading to a children's hospital either in Oklahoma City or Houston. Thank you for your prayers!
