  • How far along are you?  17+5, one baby

When is your next appointment?  About three weeks, I have a midwife appt AND my a/s two days in a row.

Cravings/Symptoms?  Nausea is pretty much gonneeeeeeee.  Not craving much, but I'm really happy to actually want meals most of the time again.

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I'm going after my insurance company with my appeal letter for denying short term disability insurance this week.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  Rave:  My libido is through the roof.  It has been for a while, but nausea kept me from doing anything about it.  DH is a happy man, lol.

Questions?  Any STM+ with double stroller experience?  DS will only be 22m when this one is born, and although we don't use the stroller a lot (unless we're at the mall, zoo, etc) I'm not sure if we'll regret not having a double at some point.  We have small cars, and I don't think we would actually be able to fit a double in the trunk, tbh.  I would be happy to use the infant carrier with the frame stroller we have from DS, and that would get us to DS being closer to 3.  I'm not sure if he'll really want to be in the stroller much at that age.  Suggestions/ thoughts welcome.

pregnancy GTKY: how has pregnancy sleep compared to pre-pregnancy sleep so far?  Depends on the day.  The first couple months, I was up constantly peeing, but that's leveled off now.  Overall, it's about the same for the moment.

NBR GTKY: what is your favourite genre of movie?  Horror movies!  DH and I love horror.  I'm not overly picky about it, I just love bad movies, haha.  Also, chick flicks (like the Notebook) are a favorite as well.

  • @coloradohiker not btdt in any way, but could you get a convertible stroller like the baby jogger city select or uppababy vista or britax b ready? Then you have the option of snapping the second seat in but you're not stuck with both seats if you don't want them that day or something??

@dogdisnylovr I count Disney as a genre...is it too late to change my answer??

@RedBreast35 I know what you mean about "omg, I'm not obsessed with ttc or making it through 1st tri anymore....now what?" Lol

  • @ColoradoHiker My mid-sleep need to pee has also tapered off, which has been excellent!

    How far along are you?
    16+1

    When is your next appointment?
Had sonogram yesterday at 16 weeks.  We have an elective u/s on Saturday.  Then anatomy scan on 5/4.

    Cravings/Symptoms?
My ears are feeling extra oily   :|   Not really sure what that is about.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms?
Rave: DH told his coworkers he was "going to be a daddy" and my heart melted when he relayed the story.
Rant: I hate how you have to wait so long for Dr. at these check-ins.  They did my weigh in when I got there and I haven't gained any weight, so I was convinced something was wrong.  After 15 minutes of agonizing in a small room, the doctor arrived. ugh.

    Questions?

pregnancy GTKY: how has pregnancy sleep compared to pre-pregnancy sleep so far?
The dreams are weird and occasionally wake me up.  Had a phase of super uncomfortable-ness.  But finding my groove.

NBR GTKY: what is your favourite genre of movie?
Action for sure.  It can have the worst plot-line and I'll still think it's great.

  • @jillibean0871 That's what I've heard from a few other people as well, that they eventually want nothing to do with the stroller.  If we can keep the LO in the infant carrier stroller, and just put DS in a cart, or a bigger/ umbrella stroller when needed, I think we'll be able to skip the double.  I don't really want to spend the money if I don't have to, especially if it won't even fit in my car!

  • @ChefRamsay ohhh you'll definitely be able to tell at your ultrasound today, especially if babes is cooperating!  We found out at our NT scan with both DS and now DD.. they looked distinctly different! Good luck and it's always exciting to see baby even if you aren't trying to get a peek at the goods!
  • @jillibean0871 Oh I know I'm far enough along to tell. I'm more worried that the baby won't give us a clear shot!

  • @cheframsay fingers crossed for you that you get a nice clear shot!
  • @ChefRamsay She wasn't concerned as long as I wasn't throwing up.  & I've actually had no problem eating this entire time.  She said some people just gain it later on in the pregnancy.  I dunno.  Body is definitely changing and there's still a baby in there, so seems OK.  Part of me thinks that maybe I lost weight when I stopped drinking and gained weight with baby and I'm just coincidentally at a net of zero.  Can't wait to hear the sex of your babe!

  • @ChefRamsay  I was denied short term disability overall when I signed up for it during open enrollment at work, last fall.  The really short version is I'm being denied bc I'm pregnant.  I'm fighting it on the grounds that I was not pregnant when I signed up, and it's not my fault the company that does physicals called me to set up an appt, but didn't have any available appts for a month.  Andplusalso, a co-worker had her physical at 7m pregnant, and was approved with no provisional wait period.   :|   I wasn't going to fight it, until I found out about the co-worker's approval.  Total BS.

@Cats*in*space Hopefully I won't start a riot after the thread earlier this week, but I've lost weight since getting pregnant.  Granted, I've had vicious nausea and I've got a few lbs to spare as far as losing weight goes.  But, my midwife really wasn't concerned about it when I asked.  This isn't a blanket statement, but it's been my experience that some women gain more of their weight earlier in the pregnancy, or later on, and kind of plateau.  I think I gained maybe 15lb by the end of my second tri with DS, but I gained 10lb in a month due to swelling in the third tri.  It's a very very individual thing, please try not to worry about it too much.

@ChefRamsay I hope your BP isn't too high, are they worried about pre-eclampsia?  My midwives will only take low risk cases, so anything like pre-e or twins, etc, gets shifted over to the OB side of the office.  ETA- How was the appt, did you find out???

  • @BigBadWolf12 Yay for impromptu scans! They always calm my nerves and anxiety. I had 3 ultrasounds, each 2 weeks a part for a long time and got used to it. Then after the first tri I haven't had any. Impatiently waiting the A/S.

@ColoradoHiker I hope you get your short-term disability approved and soon!

@RedBreast35 Uhh...I miss chocolate too! I have always had a sweet tooth but since getting pregnant I want absolutely nothing sugary. Probably a good thing, but I miss it!

@jillibean0871 I don't think my wedding ring with make it much longer either. Boo for morning sickness! Hopefully it eases up really quickly!

@ChefRamsay YAY for baby girl! Hopefully your BP isn't high and you get to stay with your MW. I generally have high BP at the Dr. and I was instructed to monitor it for a week at home. Thankfully right now it is normal but I'm sure it will be monitored closely. I am a anxious mess 110% of the time.

@sugargirl1019 I have no tips for how to stop a barking dog, but it does remind me of when my sister and I bought a "no bark" shock collar for our dog because he barked at every little noise. We wanted to make sure we wouldn't be hurting him and tested it out ourselves. My sister volunteered, put the collar on and I hit the button. Long story short, we threw it away immediately. We weren't going to torture our dog with that. So I have no ideas, but if you love your dog don't get a shock collar.

Has anyone had a glucose test yet? I haven't seen anyone mention it. I have 1 coming up before my anatomy scan but I'm wondering if I am having it done early possibly due to my weight. I didn't ask because I didn't think it was abnormal, but seeing as not many others have mentioned it yet, maybe it is abnormal.

  • @dogdisnylovr I had one done a few weeks ago, due to being overweight.  It's funny bc I didn't have one with DS, and I'm pretty close to the weight I was with him, but I think it's BMI that they're looking at to determine it.  I think STM+ who had GD with a previous pregnancy may have it done early as well.  It should still be a one hour test, though.

  • @cheframsay yay! Congrats on the baby girl!!! for some reason I had girl in my mind for you, so when you said you didn't know yet, I had to think for a second, because I was sure you already knew lol. Obviously I was wrong!

@dogdisnylovr yes, it was so reassuring. And, I realized when the midwife was like, "the doctor can squeeze you in and give you an u/s today" and I had to wait a total of 5 minutes, if I had known I would get an u/s that day, I would have been a nervous wreck ALL day and probably all week leading up to it! So thankful I don't have to deal with nerves to that extreme leading up to the a/s. I'm sure I'll be nervous, but having a good 15 week scan is way more reassuring at 18 weeks (when I will have the a/s) than having a good 8 week scan.
