High-Risk Pregnancy

Cervix

I have had a previous pregnancy loss and D&C. I am pregnant again (15 weeks) and do light checks on my cervix every now and then- just to check the position of it. It is now so high up and out of reach. Is this normal? I am afraid that it is shortening (cervical incompetentence) or is it normal for the cervix to rise up high at this point in pregnancy. Any answers will help. Thank you.

Re: Cervix

  • Your cervix is supposed to be high during pregnancy. I could tell during my TWW if I was pregnant or not based on cervical position.
I also suggest you stop sticking your fingers in there :) You don't want to introduce bacteria.

  • I strongly suggest as pp said to stop checking your cervix yourself, address any concerns you might have with your ob, ask if you can get a cervical length ultrasound just to be safe but please stop putting your fingers that far up.
