Facial hair :x

forgive me if it's been talked about..

i noticed a few days ago, soft but darkened hair on my jaw line! It's terrible! Should I leave it alone or wax it?!? I don't want it to get worse if I wax it..and please someone else tell me they have or have had the same thing I feel like a man

Re: Facial hair :x

  • I have one black chin hair that I got when I got pregnant with DS :( DH noticed it first and it has never gone away. Ugh. I pluck the little sucker :\
  • Loading the player...
  • @wyomama0427 my sister said pluck it but there's quite a few and I think they'd be hard to pluck and super painful..
  • @mcdoug211 mine is super hard to pluck. It's al around a pain. Idk if I would wax for fear of agitating the other hairs? The thin blonde fuzz that I don't want to turn thick and black lol
  • What about bleaching it or nair?  I definitely don't know if thats allowed though.

My stomach had a ton of hair during my last pregnancy and i just shaved it. It stopped growing so much after delivery and went back to a normal amount of body hair.  It's back again now for this pregnancy though.
  • The fuzz on my jaw line is definitely a little heavier, but it isn't darker yet. I hope it doesn't darken, but just in case I'm curious to see what other have done!

  • @wyomama0427 that's my worry and why I haven't done anything yet haha

@Becky012016 I got more on my stomach too last time too! I didn't expect it on my face though

  • My face normally had peach fuzz but each time when I am pregnant, it seems to get thicker around the jawline especially just below my ears - it's bizarre but once I have my kids, the hair falls out so I just leave it alone. I do have a few black hairs on my chin that I plucked when I had my first and now it's constant,  I have pluck anytime it shows up regardless of being pregnant or not.

but along the same lines - my hair with previous pregnancies got thick without me really realizing it. I only noticed after I gave birth bc I would have clumps of hair on my pillow any time I slept.
  • That's exactly where mine is @tiki8286 maybe I'll just leave it alone unless it gets worse lol

I have no shame. I get a mustache. It's worse since being pregnant. I get it waxed sometimes but it's always followed by acne. I used to use these hair removal creams that my doc doesn't want me using now.

So now I just shave that bad boy off. (With the door locked so SO doesn't witness this embarrassing deed.)

ETA: I guess I do have a bit of shame since the idea of SO watching me do this makes me cringe lol
  • Omg this thread has me giggling. I too get a nice line of dark hairs on my belly. They also went away after DS but are back with a vengeance. It looks like I have a happy trail. And it's annoying. I'm gonna look like DH soon but I really don't want to shave it and agitate it lmao. Oh the joys of pregnancy haha!!
  • Also @msashley2010-2 I never had a chance with the shame. DH noticed my chin hair for the first time while we were having sex. He mentioned it the next morning and told me he noticed it during the deed but didn't say anything because he didn't want to embarrass me and kill it. Not sure which would have been worse lmao.
  • I shave it.  It does make my acne flair a little so I just try to be gentle and wash my face right after with a foaming cleanser.

This thread just reminded me to check under my chin; my single black hair is back.  :(

  • I've plucked, waxed, shaved, or use the little hair wand thing. Get it out of here!
I'm thinking things will go back to normal eventually, but I'd rather not deal with the extra fuzz in the meantime.

  • @SummerGirl21 Your comment made me giggle because I definitely felt for the one monster hair I get on my chin as I was reading this thread as well.

I don't think I've noticed any excess facial hair (yet) but my belly is absolutely hairier than it used to be. I feel very furry all of a sudden.

  • I have two black hairs that show up every once in awhile. One on my cheek and one under my chin. My belly has gotten more hairy, not with dark hairs just furry with the blond hairs.

  • Just an FYI waxing will not make it worse.  In the long run the more you wax the less it will grow back and become finer.  If it is more than just a few hairs I would say just get it waxed!
  • I get a few dark chin and mustache hairs even without pregnancy...but I am in the old lady brigade at 37. ;) hormones are a beast! I either pluck or shave.  I love these: https://www.dorcousa.com/shai-eyebrow-razor-ldia-200/
Less irritating than a full razor. Wipe the blade with alcohol and make sure your face is clean and moisturizer after to prevent breakouts. Hang in there, we're halfway through the marathon!
  • I have weird hormones anyway so I get dark hairs outside of pregnancy anyway, especially when not on the pill. I pluck a couple every morning from my chin and jawline. Super annoying. I'm going to get laser done again when I'm done with pregnancy.

  • I always have dark hair on my upper lip. It actually seems to get thinner when I'm pregnant, so at least there's that. But I just shave it. They sell these little razor things that are specifically designed for lady mustaches. I have to shave it off about once every two weeks (not a fan of waxing). I have no shame. DH sees me do it all the time. In fact he's the one who suggested I start shaving it because he was tired of hearing me complain all the time.

  • Im suffering with you fellow belly hairs ladies. I had a little before that was kinda NBD but its totally out of control now and embarrassing. Im on the wax it off train.

  • This is a different kind of body hair, but I now randomly have several eyebrows at the end of my right eyebrow that grow a little above my other brow hairs, and grow forward instead of down. I noticed then for the first time last week. WTF even is that?! I plucked them, but they've grown back twice as fast as my other hairs.

  • My stomach hair amount has remained the same,  but it has gotten darker.  I have shaved it on occasion before I got pregnant. I'm too scared to touch it and have it grow back crazy thick or something.
  • With my last pregnancy, I swear I had terrible sideburns appear haha! Like all the way down to my jaw line. I waxed it... it didn't make it worse and it totally went away after DS was born! This time it hasn't shown up (yet...). There's still time though. Seems like a trade off. I had extra hair growing in weird places last time, but my skin was totally flawless.. it was cool because I could just wax the hair. This time, no weird hair but my face is breaking out a lot. My belly does get fuzzy though. Both times.. I tend to shave it. It also doesn't come back after pregnancy.. I would just rather get rid of it because I don't like to feel like I'm one of my animals!

What about threading? That is usually less of a reaction with long lasting results.

  • Have any of you tried dermaplaning? I have had it twice and absolutely love it. It gets rid of the peach fuzz and any thicker hairs, too. Plus it's an amazing exfoliator. I've actually dozed off both times I've had it done, but I'm not sure if that's more a testament to it being relaxing or me just being an exhausted pregnant lady.
