Suggestions on where to sell boy baby clothes?

Does anyone sell baby clothes online?  (mostly referring to various facebook buy/sell/trade groups... though not necessarily limited to...)

I was part of a B/S/T group but it has since died down so much I doubt I'll be successful.  I've started going through DS' old clothes since we're expecting a girl but I'd rather list things where I have a good chance of selling.  It's a lot of Carters and similar priced brands.

Suggestions??

Well technically ANYTHING can go in there... but seems like a better idea for it to be its own thread since it's a specific topic that others could contribute to if they also are curious
  • This was just discussed in a thread last week.  No need to start another.

    And also

I'd love to take a peek at that but I couldn't find anything. I've searched so many different keywords (selling, sale, facebook, resale, buy, etc.) but couldn't find anything, which is why I posted a new thread.  The search feature isn't always the best though.

Exactly.  One-off threads are reserved for issues that several moms may be experiencing.  Usually this includes health-related items and health or baby advice.  Something of this nature (selling baby clothes), is best reserved for Randoms & Questions or related thread, like it was last week.  Plus, we know you're new here.  Take a stroll through the threads to determine the best place for this question.  And if you question the best place for this question, ask that in Randoms & Questions.

  • Not curious at all because one, we did discuss it last week already, and I'm sure I already stated there that I have had most luck on local b/s/t groups. And two, not very many moms here need or want to sell their baby clothes because they are hand me downs or its their first kid.

Lurk some more, dig through last week randoms and you will find what youre looking for.

No problem, I clearly missed the post about selling (still can't find it lol) ... it's SUPER hard for me to keep up with the random threads.   I intro'd in early March after lurking forever but since it's so hard to keep up I'll just stay in the shadows.
  • I just tagged you on the thread @SomersIsles and it bumped it up.

...and this is why I think we have too much in the randoms thread and not enough on the main board.

I will put in yet another plug for setting a different threshold for randoms vs. main board. It's all subjective, but I think my threshold is in a very different place than the norm for this board. I rarely look at the randoms because the thread gets so long so fast and then there are basically 5+ simultaneous conversations going on in there but when I do pop in to the randoms I sometimes find a super important issue that I know something about that I think could absolutely deserve its own thread. One that comes to mind recently was the discussion about biking and running with a baby. I was looking on my phone so I wasn't logged in and never returned to the topic, but to me this seemed more relevant than "random." (After all, a bunch of people did pipe in at the time.)

If the randoms thread is overflowing and people are overwhelmed by it yet the main board has very few unique posts, I say why not declutter the randoms and clutter up the board a bit. Moreover, as the OP pointed out, the search function works for main posts and not for things that mentioned within a thread (right?)

  • Eh. The randoms threads do get crazy. I don't even read the weekend chatter thread at all and those have been getting long lately! I really don't care if someone starts a new thread about something, as long as we're not going bananas with it.

I have no idea where to sell used baby clothes other than B/S/T groups on FB.

  • All of the above! Plus I think it was more of an issue (maybe not the right word...) because the OP is not a regular and non one knows who she is even if she intro herself a month ago.

  • Fair enough, I do love how organized our board is and this is such a limited topic.

  • I agree that Randoms is starting to get really long. I find that if I miss a day or two, it takes me forever to catch up. However, I don't think that we need to spill all of those topics onto the main board. What if we started having twice a week (weekdays), every other day, or daily Randoms threads? It's only Wednesday and our Randoms is almost at 300 posts already. Just seems daunting if you haven't stayed up with it.

  • Welp at the least y'all can discuss the pros and cons to TB "clutter" lol

@PartiallyDomesticated Common sense would dictate that ............ but as you can see, I wasn't asking for local b/s/t.  I was asking for suggestions on just b/s/t groups.  I am currently part of one ("Boys Only Brand Name Resale") on facebook and I've purchased from people all across the country.  Normally I would recommend this one, and I kind of still do because there's still frequent listings, but I've noticed a sudden decrease in activity... not good if you're trying to sell.  I've saved hundreds shopping via that group though.  Just an FYI

    @BeachMommy2B see above, wasn't asking for geographically specific b/s/t.  (P.S. Wasn't a GBCB)

Also to chime in to the new topic of pros/cons to random.... Random threads, IMO, are conducive to people who have the ability to frequent the board throughout the day.  It's not as convenient for people who might only have time to check in once a day (especially if it's like me, at bedtime, when the conversations are wrapping up).  This board in particular has this look of minimal activity because of the lack of original threads.

Solid point btw @BabyMC517.  I agree, I don't "like" posts here.  For some reason I've stopped bothering with "liking" posts... I generally don't notice them on my own posts so just stopped giving it much consideration, but i'm sure I'm in the minority there.

I'm going to +1 this because of the issue the OP mentioned: it can be hard to find valuable info later on if it's buried in the Randoms. The search feature sucks, we all know it, so maybe it would be easier in specific threads. Personally, I was hesitant to start a new thread asking for app suggestions but I knew I wanted to find it later so I avoided asking in Randoms.

There's a happy balance we can find here: be brave enough to start a thread when the topic warrants it but don't go overboard.
Also to add.... I was glad to see the app suggestion thread! And yes, search sucks.... for such a large company you'd think TB would figure it out by now....

Well yes I agree...if I had written this post I might have put it here (not randoms) and probably wouldn't have been criticized for it, even if some people would have thought "perhaps this should have been in randoms." I like that we have randoms for random, smaller topic things, and for people posting completely random stuff that isn't even a question (i.e. like a facebook status -- something that happened to them that's not even bump related). But I completely disagree with where we put the threshold on what constitutes "random." There are plenty of things that end up in randoms and are never pulled out of there that are of interest to more than 5 people.

The way I see it -- if you check the board once per day, you will see all of the new posts for that day as well as updates to existing posts, as this bumps up a thread. But the randoms will be totally overflowing, even if you checked it the day previous. Seems to me that a once-a-day check should mean you'll have no more than two pages' worth of new threads to sift through (factoring in that some existing threads will have been bumped up to the first/second page), and a reasonable amount of posts within the randoms thread. Without I randoms thread at all I realize that there would be 4-5 pages of new stuff generated each day. Yes, that is cluttered. But right now I also think the balance seems off in the opposite direction.

  • @kat81 I totally understand. It is overwhelming and maybe there should be some separate threads started from the randoms. I'm not opposed to other threads or keeping it all in randoms. I just thought it was odd, like I previously mentioned, with a thread started by someone nobody knew. That's all :)

  • Since our board is so busy right now, maybe we should have a daily random thread. That would at least keep it all in once place and not clutter it up with unnecessary posts that should go in randoms.

  • I was thinking about this more this morning...I agree that the randoms gets a bit out of hand like I mentioned previously. I'm not sure a daily thread would work either because they will just overflow as well and then you have to figure out which one you posted on! That might be even more confusing! Honestly, I feel like if you can't keep up with it, that's okay! You don't have to comment on everything and if you just want to lurk no one is stopping you. :) The only thing I would suggest, and I think it was suggested before, is to mention that you lurk and haven't been on in a while due to whatever, but that you do have a question. That way we know you aren't just some random person that we don't know, since we seem to be a very protective yet welcoming group :) Just my 2 cents...I'm really a go with the flow, so whatever is decided I'm good with.
