Old lady names

I'm expecting another girl and have a Leona already. I'm into the old fashion names but can't find one I love.

Anything similar to Clara, Sally, Sloane, Ida, etc?
Not Interested Audrey, pearl, Mabel, Josephine, Penelope, Willa, Gladys, violet, etc.

We might end up with Clara, but would people automatically nickname her Claire? Is sloane with or without the e?

Re: Old lady names

  • I much prefer Claire but I don't think people would nn her Claire if her name was clara. I see them as 2 different stand alone names.
I love Sloane but it doesn't sound old fashioned to me at all. I think it is spelled with an e on the end.

    Suggesting
    Caroline

    Ivy
    Ingrid
    Patsy

  • I love Clara, and it wouldn't get nicknamed Claire.  Sloane should have the e but I do not like that half as much and it seems rhymey with Leona.  I think these would be great with Leona

I have a Maxine who was almost a Lydia. Love those suggestions! I guess since my Maxine is 2 I didn't process it as old ladyish.

  • I really, really like the suggestion of Rosalind (l like that they are different but are both old fashioned and have the long O sound in them). Eloise is too close to Leona. How about:

    Aster
    Martha
    Cornelia
    Hazel
    Alma
    Opal
    Imogen
    Adela
    Olive
