Re: UO Thursday 03.30.17

  • I'm sure this is probably split down the middle on people who agree and disagree.  I think it is pointless to throw a big first birthday party.  LO is not going to remember it.  Yes you'll take pictures and such, but I just think it is a waste of money.  I'd rather wait until LO can remember and can actually have fun and enjoy themselves.  For S's first birthday, we will just have close family over and a cake, nothing too crazy.  I'm not saying don't celebrate it, but these elaborate parties I've heard of and seen just don't make sense to me.  Even worse, some people say they only do a big first birthday party and small things for other birthdays.  Why???  I don't get it.

  • I agree completely with you on that. For all of my kids so far, I have made them a little smash cake, and made cake or cupcake for the guests (who have only been family and a few close friends). I see no point in making an extravagant ordeal of something that will not be remembered, and possibly not even enjoyed by the babe. Addy was stressed out and fussy on her birthday, because she wasn't used to having so many people around her. Age 3+ is when birthdays start really getting fun!
  • No elaborate bashes here, but I do have a big family and we will have a party for LO.  His first birthday party will be just like every other year's party & a chance for everyone to get together and rain love down on the little nugget :)
