  • On the same side of the coin as @jsnakehole, I do not like the new live action Disney movies. I can only see them as a big 'ole money grab and I have a hard time getting past that. I didn't like the Alice in Wonderlands, The Jungle Book or Malificent and I didn't bother to see Cinderella because I hated Rose on Downton Abbey and I can hold a grudge something fierce lol. I will see BATB and I really WANT to like it, but I doubt I will.

  • @morado23 it wasn't a bad movie overall! I just hated her. Maybe I'll start a movie discussion thread later.

@flowerpower5838 I'm not into the remakes either. This is the first one I saw. I heard the next one is Mulan, but without the songs, which is the worst because those songs are amazing.

  • @Pinky917 Theme days are totally okay! Though I'd only go from work to home, unless I brought a change of clothes if I were going elsewhere.

I kind of agree on the manicures thing. I love the end result of pedicures but I don't like the process at all (ticklish feet) and manicures chip immediately. I hardly ever paint my fingernails at home even but when I do, they're inevitably bare a few days later. Also I'm pretty frugal but I love clothes so I pretty much only spend "fun" money on stuff like that.

  • My unpopular opinion is that I hate the all-white kitchen trend. Or basically any of the 5 kitchen styles that are in every HGTV kitchen. Farmhouse sinks, glass front shelves, a 30 ft island... why?

  • Haha yeah, you basically described my exact kitchen. I don't like granite counter tops though. I do have the all glass front top cabinets, but all of my stuff does match and is perfectly organized. I designed my kitchen that way :)
  • my left arm for a farmhouse sink i swear; i hate divided kitchen sinks with a passion.  i just want to soak my roasting pan darn it!

Don't forget granite counters and stainless steel appliances!

The ones that kill me are when it's a perfectly functional kitchen and people are like, we'd have to change this immediately (but we're already over budget!). People if it's functional you can do it over time!  Lol DH gets so mad at me when I watch those shows, I just yell at the people.  I could never be a realtor!
My husband and I are in the process of buying a house with a really nice kitchen but it's brown. :(  I'm one of those all white kicthen people. We aren't going to make any changes until after we save up again but the brown has GOT to go...  I'm sure there are a lot of people that would see the kitchen and think we are crazy to rip it out but I hate it!!

I like glass front cabinets as an accident but not for the majority of the cabinets. I could also do without the farmhouse sink. I think they are cute but just not my style.
  • @JJMNO1616 you're describing the kitchen of the house I looked at today to a T.  It's a fine kitchen, and upgraded...to someone else's tastes.  All I can think about is how much I want to gut the whole thing!

  • @jsnakehole I loveeee Emma Watson and I thought she made a great Belle BUT I will say that I wasn't crazy about her singing. I think it was very obvious that she's not actually a singer and that they gave her voice lessons and edited it like crazy. Plus all of the other actors had amazing singing voices so in comparison hers wasn't great. Other than that though I loved her in the role.

  • @JJMNO1616 That's how we felt too - we bought our first house a year ago, and although it was 30 years old and needed work, we loved the layout, square footage, the lot size, the neighborhood and the school district.  Everything else we could change over time (and with DH being in residential construction, "somewhat" affordable).

  • @KatieEl I could almost get behind quartz but it stains so easily and you cant put hot things on it and you cant cut on it

  • ...people cut directly on their counters?

  • ...people cut directly on their counters?
I do only because we have cheap laminate counters and you can't see the scratches. And we want to rip them out and put in a white or grey kitchen. LOL I'm finding this discussion hilarious.
@kiwi2628 I didn't know that about quartz. Thanks for saving us from that bad decision!

  • ...people cut directly on their counters?
You can cut directly on granite! Now it can dull your knives over time, but it wont scratch the granite at all!

@cait32-2    According to the local kitchen store where I live (when I started looking into re-doing the kitchen) and a quick google search through a few sites, what I said about hot things is correct:

'Can I put hot pans or cut without a cutting board on quartz?
Although quartz is very scratch resistant, we do recommend using a cutting board on your quartz countertop. A hot pot or pan can potentially lead to discoloration, we suggest using a trivet to maintain the quality of your countertop.'

Also, you can put hot things on granite (also per kitchen store and google searches)
': Granite is ideal for kitchens because under normal conditions it will not burn and it will not be harmed by hot pans or open flames, but the stone will absorb heat from hot trays. Marble should not be used in kitchens as excessive heat can cause damage and potentially leave scars or burn marks.'

Although apparently you can cut on quartz. The not-cutting part is clearly just my friends neurotic mom, lol
