  • How far along are you? 19 weeks 4 days!

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had my a/s today! It was exciting, we saw everything!! Heartbeat was strong, and baby was right on track! We asked the technician to write the gender in an envelope, so tonight, we'll have our own reveal :)

    Cravings? Anything sweet!!

Rants/raves? At today's ultrasound, technician said I have an anterior placenta, so that's probably why I'm not feeling anything. So a few more weeks till I feel the little nugget!

Questions for FTM, STM+? For those moms with anterior placenta's, when did you feel the baby kick?

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? Last movie was Moonlight. It was sad yet powerful.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?  Had an OB appointment last Thursday.  It went super well. I thought I was going to have to do the glucose test, but I didnt!

Cravings? Same, all sweets all the time!

Rants/raves? So to follow up on the glucose test saga of mine.  I talked about this a lot a few months ago, but I was told to take the glucose test around 12 weeks, becuase of weight, and I was super confused why, and then I was told it was just becuase they like to do it earlier than other places.  Well I went in on Thursday, fully expecting that I would need to do it, but my OB told me I was set.  So basically, becuase Im over weight, they were going to have me take the 1 hour early, and then do it again at the normal 28ish weeks, whether I passed or not.  this was all becuase most women who start pregnancy over weight, tend to not have control over it and gain way more than they should.  Well Becuase I have only gained 3 pounds, and seem to have my weight completely under control, I get to take it at the normal time!

Questions for FTM, STM+? none right now!

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw?  I saw Beauty and the Beast last weekend.  I thought it was absolutely beautiful.  I cried at the end, but more because my grandmother who passed in '99, would have loved this version of her favorite movie.

  • @jacksonbears I have an anterior placenta too.  When they did my US they showed me where it was and for me, its super high, So I can feel my little guy in my lower belly, and occasionally on the side, but I haven't felt anything in the middle (where everyone puts their hands).  The US tech said that between 22-25 weeks, I can start to expect to feel him everywhere.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had the Anatomy Scan last week that seemed to go well and follow up with OB med about the increased migraines. I have to stay on the low dose Aspirin until 8 weeks postpartum - been told to expect some bad headaches after the birth with the hormone fluctuation :(

Cravings? I'm just starving in general it seems...it's been waking me up in the night, it's so weird. I guess I have a thing for frozen yogurt right now.

Rants/raves? We're having a Boy - we found out this weekend and we're very excited. Being able to say "my son is kicking me" instead of the baby is pretty nice. I was sure it was a boy!

  • How far along are you? 21+4

Cravings? Milk. That's new. Drank a few glasses with dinner last night.

Rants/raves? Rant- I'm really trying hard not to sleep on my back. I've tried propping myself up some, but I don't even know how propped up I'm supposed to be to not put the pressure on that artery or whatever. I'd be fine sleeping on my sides but this stupid non-stop congestion makes breathing through my nose so difficult, and I can breath better on my back. Arrrgg.

Questions for FTM, STM+? No, but about the anterior placenta- found out last week that I have one too. But, I felt fluttering on the very low sides staring around 15 weeks. It was rare, but there. Around 18-19 I started distinguishing gas bubbles from baby bubbles. Saturday the baby was really active, but by active I mean I feel bubbles. According to my friend who's due two days before me, she's already feeling hard kicks. So I guess that's the difference- not just if you feel movement, but how hard the movement is.
The ultrasound tech assured me I'd be feeling a lot more movement soon enough.

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? In the theatre, I saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which was amazing in Real-D. I watch older movies on TV just on luck of the draw; Neighbors was on Saturday afternoon and that movie's hilarious. "I'M NOT A COW. MILK ME."

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? 20wk U/S all looked well, doc says everything looks good/ is on track. I have an apt on Friday for a fetal echo-just keeping good thoughts it is going to go well and her heart looks perfect!

Cravings? Fruit has overtaken the chips! However last night we did Lou Malnatis deep dish pizza and it was amazing!!

Rants/raves? Daycares all charging extra to use a credit card! I just want to sign up auto pay, and get points, why that costs me an extra 2-3% every time is just crazy!

Questions for FTM, STM+? item you were told you needed that was useless?

  • @smallbutmighty77 so much is not "needed." We didn't have a changing table and never once regretted it. We had a changing pad downstairs and up and just changed the baby where ever. We also didn't use a pack and play, but I know other moms swear by those. I also didn't pay full price for anything used just a month or two.Our exersaucer was a hand me down, and since our LO used it for such a short time, I was glad I didn't pay much for it. I know you can register for these things, but if you don't, people will buy other things you need.

@smallbutmighty77 Fingers crossed everything looks perfect!

How far along are you? 20 + 5

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? Had our A/S last Friday. I posted about this in the weekly appointments, but will recap quickly here. Everything was perfect, baby was measuring on track EXCEPT they saw two very small cysts near baby's brain. Apparently they're called choroid plexus cysts (CPCs) - they don't have any impact on brain development, personality, etc.. They are sometimes linked with Trisomy 18, which is why we got referred for a level II U/S. Luckily baby shows no other markers for Trisomy 18 (short legs, clenched fists, spots on heart). I understand they want to be extra careful, but I'm freaked out! From my crazy googling, it sounds like most disappear by 3rd tri, and if they don't, it doesn't have any negative impact for baby. My OB described it like a freckle - it's just there. Fingers crossed!! We have the next U/S tomorrow AM.

Cravings? Pizzza! We made homemade pizza Saturday and Sunday nights. I convinced myself that was fine because we used whole wheat crust..

Rants/raves? So much rain in the forecast this week ugh. I'll be happy if it melts the snow, but it's just depressing. I need the sun!

Questions for FTM, STM+? When are we supposed to start "counting kicks"? Sometimes baby isn't very active for a day or two, then I'll feel her a ton. I know at some point doctor's recommend being mindful of movement - wasn't sure when that is. Late 3rd tri only?

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? I just watched the Business of Being Born on Netflix the other night. I'm not sure how I feel about it... it's over 10 years old at this point, so I was trying to consider how much is still relevant to today's hospital practices. Definitely an interesting perspective though!

  • @secicc12 -  I watched that too - a friend from work recommended it. I thought it was interesting but maybe outdated as well. I didn't know if that was just me. The Midwife I started with (but had to move to an OB) said that 85% of their patients still give birth at hospitals.

  • @secicc12  we are homebirthing, so business of being born was great for us (I watched it years ago and now DH has watched it too). It's a little dated, but not much. Most of the hospital stuff is still accurate, but the movie is clearly biased toward out-of-hospital births for low risk women so I'd just take it all with a grain of salt. Keep us updated about baby's "freckles"! What exactly does a level II us entail?

@smallbutmighty77  you probably mentioned this elsewhere/before but what's the echo for? Is it standard for your care provider or just extra precaution for something? Praying it goes well!!!

@JWatt5  migraines are the worst. So sorry you're dealing with that! My headaches have thankfully slowed down in frequency once I started getting neck adjustments. Is the aspirin supposed to help with them after baby is born or you'll just have to deal with them since they're hormonal?

@DeansGirl14 I make myself fall asleep on my side but without fail I'm on my back when I wake up! Trying not to worry about it too much, but I'm going to mention it to my midwife.

How far along are you? // 18+6

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? // AS is supposed to be done next week but it's still not scheduled, which is frustrating! We are planning a homebirth, but because I'm on Zoloft (ok'd by my psychiatrist, OB/GYN when she knew we were TTC, and my midwife) we are legally required to have an OB "ok" our homebirth. That's frustrating on many levels. So we have an appointment on Tuesday with my OB/GYN and my midwife for the consult. Some OBs are very against homebirth so I'm a little nervous about how open minded she is willing to be.

    Cravings? // Nothing really!

Rants/raves? // See above, no scheduled AS and the OB consult.

    Questions for FTM, STM+?

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? // not a huge movie person actually! Watched some ridiculous lifetime movie a few weeks ago when DH was away.
  • @mrsmatt1212 - the aspirin is to reduce the likelihood of blood clots. I had a mini stroke/TIA when I was young after my migraine got increasingly worse once I went on the BCP. I'm just going to have to deal with them since it's hormonal...but it's nice to know there's something happening to make sure it's nothing more!

  • @secicc12 fingers crossed for you too, I know any little thing can make us Google like crazy! My doctor told me this week she will have me start counting kicks at about week 28. DH keeps asking when he gets to feel the baby, since I already do. I promise I will tell him as soon as I can feel anything from just my hand on my stomach!

@mrsmatt1212 I have a congenital heart defect, so the fetal echo is to check and see if the baby has it. Not done otherwise. I'm a little nervous, as minimal as my heart defect is, I have a very mild case so it doesn't impact me much. But, the mom guilt over even just the idea that she could have something involving her heart that she inherited from me is real. Anxious until Friday but I should get the results that day-so I'm just fingers crossed and good thoughts until then!

  • @DeansGirl14 @mrsmatt1212 I'm starting to feel uncomfortable on my back, but not so uncomfortable when I wake up in that position that I move. I imagine that when it actually poses a danger, I'll shift in my sleep or wake up.

@smallbutmighty77 I hate that about my utilities - it's like 5% more if I pay online vs a hard copy check. I'm like, it is less work for your employees if I pay online PLUS you'll get it on time because I won't have to find my checkbook. Just accept it!

@dinofreak my baby wouldn't let us get a clear profile shot - it's all blurry because the kid wouldn't stop moving!

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
Best appointment yet with my OB practice for my a/s last week. I was crazy disappointed that a work crisis prevented SO from coming as planned - he would've absolutely loved to see LO's acrobatics and pick out the features on the screen. I found out I have an anterior placenta, which explains not feeling the baby really at all yet.

    Cravings?
Often, chocolate. I had Milk Duds for breakfast this morning. Not sure if I'm craving sweet or just quick calories - I didn't eat enough yesterday because SO kept on pulling us out of the house about when I'd start cooking a meal.

    Rants/raves?
SO has started telling stories to my stomach, which is so incredibly adorable that I'm going to start filming him doing it.

    Questions for FTM, STM+?
    Nothing today.

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw?
Uhhhh, not much of a movie person. In a theater? I think I saw most of the live-action Cinderella a few summers ago. On Amazon prime, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot a few months ago.

@larsonbussman my baby is breech, they told me not to worry that there was still plenty of time to move around. They will just check when we get closer to the big show.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? I had a regular appointment last week and my Dr. was happy with my weight gain (I was super worried about this so thank you to everyone that suggested I bring it up with her)

    Cravings? chocolate milk!

Rants/raves? I feel like people are staring at my stomach at the gym. Maybe it's time to wear my husband's workout shirts or invest in some good pregnancy workout apparel?

Questions for FTM, STM+? My MIL will be watching LO when I return to work. Should I register for duplicates of anything for her?

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? Indiana Jones. In theaters...I have no clue!

  • @littlebeansmama I already have stretch marks on my boobs. I don't feel like they're like much bigger (started small C, they're like a full C now) but clearly my skin disagrees.

I feel like like so many people have anterior placentas!! Is this common? (I haven't had my a/s yet so I don't know what mine is).
  • @BlackNYellow extra base for her car and a pack n play or something for baby to sleep in. I also left bottles with my mom and mil when I was working and they washed/fixed bottles there which saved me a lot of time!
  • @bumpybump That makes me so happy to hear- thank you for sharing! They made it sound so scary at my appointment..but when I started researching, it didn't seem as big a deal.

@larsonbussman Baby was breech too at my appointment Friday. There's plenty of time for LO to turn! Don't worry.

@britvahok Thanks for the background! Helpful to know what I'm going into tomorrow.

  • @smallbutmighty77 @mrsmatt1212 : that is good to know lol thank you.. and yes! I don't have stretch marks but they've been itching like crazy some days but then nothing happens lol
  • @bwing10 I got my legs waxed before my wedding, and as she was waxing she said "I hope you know, that your legs won't feel smooth when you wax them." I was disappointed, and it was true! Unlike everything else I wax, the legs don't feel super smooth. It did help thin out the hair for a while, but I still had to shave regularly to keep them smooth.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? A basic appt last week. We heard the heartbeat and recorded it this time around so I can replay it :)

Cravings? Breadsticks with marinara, and cereal!

Rants/raves? Rant: Trying to figure out medical billing/insurance is super annoying. Rave: I finally bought some maternity clothes, and I'm SO much more comfortable. Plus, I feel like they make me look more pregnant, which is fun.

Questions for FTM, STM+? None right now.

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? Don't Breathe... and I probably didn't breathe through the whole movie!

  • @littlebug2010 I'm glad the glucose saga is over with for now for you!! I know you're happy you don't have to drink that crap more then once!
@JWatt5 Yeyyy for team blue! Congrats! So sorry about the migranes.  I hope the asprin is able to control them some and give you a little relief.
@DeansGirl14 I am struggling with the back thing also.  I have the U shaped pregnancy pillow that should help me stay on my sides, but every single night I wake up in the middle of the night on my back.  I had back pain yesterday and I read back sleeping can aggravate it, so I mentally forced myself to sleep on my side the entire night, and my hips hurt so bad all night I woke up a good 10 times.
@secicc12 I'm sorry you are having to go through all that stress and worry! I hope the level II US goes smoothly today and little bean is 100% healthy.  Keep us posted.  I was wondering about when to start counting kicks also.

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go?
    none!

    Cravings?
Still wanting fruit.  Made DH drive around town Sunday looking for the strawberry man on the side of the road so I could get fresh, local ones!

    Rants/raves?
Rant: side sleeping ...it's KILLING my hips at night.
Rave: I feel baby move consistently now! She has like a good 10 minute dance party everyday around 9am and 10pm. Hubs is starting to get a little jealous so it makes me even happier haha

    Questions for FTM, STM+?
I always have a ton going through my head, but currently drawing a blank

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw?
I honestly have no clue.  I want to say 50 shades darker.  I'm itching to see Beauty and the Beast and Logan though.  And I realllly can't wait until May 5th when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 comes out!

  • @littlebeansma as others have said, breast growth varies from one person to the next. With my first pregnancy mine grew late and of course got larger once my milk came in after delivery. This time they seem to be steadily increasing.

@larsonbussman a lot of babies are breech at this point which is nothing to be concerned about. Lots of time for them to still turn.

@mrsmatt1212 anterior placentas are common but not as common as posterior ones. It is possible for an anterior to change to posterior. It's not concerning unless your placenta is low lying.

  • @littlebeansma mine didn't grow til after birth last time. And I assume that's the same this time because they are the same. Maybe a teeny tiny bit fuller but I wear the same size bra.

@mrsmatt1212 A level 2 ultrasound can just view baby much clearer so is commonly used for the A/S. That might have been/might be the case for many without their doctor calling it out but it is usually more advanced than what a regular OB's office has (PP mentioned that MFM's usually have level 2 which is where my OB referred me for my A/S and I am not high risk).

@littlebeansma - agree w/ PPs, I think it's different for everyone. I just got sized at VS and grew 2 cup sizes already but it has seemed gradual to me.

@MrsVP614 - I 100% agree with both you rant and your rave!

Any appointments this week or last week? How did it go? A/S this coming Friday

    Cravings? Just so hungry!

Rants/raves? (Both a rant and a rave): I love my maternity jeans and dresses but the tops are just not doing it for me. My stomach is big enough for some of the ruched shirts but not others and my boobs just look huge in everything (even normal crew neck tshirts). I am totally loving the open front cardigans over everything, though and I can wear them post partum which is a huge plus. I just need good basic tops that aren't too long (I'm 5'4" and all of the maternity shirts I have from gap go way below my crotch).

DH and I just went to a wedding in Malibu and none of the dresses I bought completely worked. My boobs got too big for my favorite so my friend and I cut the top off of it and made the bottom a high waisted skirt. I wore one of her lace crop tops which was actually really cute, I got tons of compliments, but I don't have that much time to devote to styling. I just want good t-shirts and tank tops I can throw on for every day.

Questions for FTM, STM+? Any bigger busted ladies (now with the pregnancy boobs) with a small to normal frame have recommendations for styles or stores for maternity tops that won't make me look like a tent?

GTKY: What is the last movie you saw? Rogue One with the friends we were staying with in LA while we ate homemade pizza and coldstone. So much fun!

  • @kvh22 in my experience, LOFT maternity shirts are shorter than other stores.  None of them go down as far as my others. So maybe check them out (online only). I don't know about the bust part since I'm smaller chested. I'm also currently wearing a lot of LLR Classic T's (no, I don't sell it).

@bumpybump - thanks for the tip! I bought a couple of work shirts from them that I like but the styles are meant to be longer on those so I didn't know that about them in general. I'll have to check out the rest of their stuff.
