Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Nothing new

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my Ob appt, went pretty well, just a standard check-in.

Rants/raves? We may be putting in an application for an apartment today! eek! I'm a little worried about my credit, which is not stellar but not bad. H has amazing credit though so I'm hoping between the two of us it'll be fine.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it! I don't know if this counts but when I was in 4th grade I was interviewed by NY 1 (cable news channel) at a city council (or maybe board of ed?) meeting about school uniforms. I was the geek who was "pro-uniform" lol. My parents got cable just for the occasion!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?  Talked about on other threads but I feel like my entire pelvic area is falling apart.  Constant hip pain, vaginal pain, groin pain ... you name it.  Some days I have a hard time walking.  Baths, baths and more baths.  I have a massage next week finally and I'm going to set up an appointment with the chiro.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?  Routine appointment.  It was good.  Baby is measuring right and heartbeat is good too.  Planning on going for my glucose test next week (barf) as well as more bloodwork (TSH)  Booked one last appointment with my GP then it's off to the OB for the remainder of the pregnancy.

Rants/raves?  I guess my rave would be regarding DH and how utterly amazing he's been this whole pregnancy.

Questions for FTM, or STM+?  It's funny because I ask questions about labour, delivery, babies in general but I don't know anything about all the simple stuff like ... baby will be born in July.  I'm in Canada so it's not as hot here as it is in some of the US but it still gets hot.  We have AC in our home.  I assume they should still sleep in long sleeves?  And what do they wear out?  Are t-shirts/short sleeve onesies okay on warm days or will they still be cold?  I know how to change a diaper but I have no idea how to dress them.

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it!  Not really?!  When I was little we drew pictures in class for the local TV weather program and mine was chosen (they still do it to this day).  The phone rang off the hook with people calling to tell us they saw my picture haha!
I also got on the radio once with a story about this really shitty car we had, won a gift certificate to a restaurant.  Although I wouldn't call any of those "fame" but meh. That's all I got.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not that I can think of. Reflux is still my biggest problem and it's hit or miss.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? 24 week appointment last week. Went just fine! Next one is the real killer - lots of shots, bloodwork, and a cervix check!

Rants/raves? Rant: still mad about our new fence. They couldn't start yesterday bc of the weather (which I get!) but it hasn't rained a drop today and they still aren't here. I called and they said probably tomorrow... and then it's supposed to rain
Thursday and Friday and I'll be livid if I have to go the weekend without a fence and walk my (big) dogs in the rain. I understand the weather messes up them up, but don't start it if you don't intend to finish in the three days you said you would.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? Not right now! I need to make a list when I think of a question. I can never think of one when I fill these out.

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it! Haha kind of. I'm in the background of a BSB film. They did a documentary of one of their tours and I'm in that. Also, my cousin and I made a funny meme with a pic we took and it went viral. But we didn't watermark it or anything so no one would probably know that I did it.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Nope!

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? None since last check in.

Rants/raves? Rave - DH has hit a new point where he's really excited about the baby.  He had been mildly excited, but mostly just helpful with cleaning and stuff. Ever since he felt her kick the first time and found out it was a her, he's been kind of in a dreamy in love mood and he talks about her constantly.  It makes me feel so much better!  We both wanted this more than anything, but I know he had trouble connecting in the early part of it because he'd forget she was there.  Now that she moves and he can actually feel her, he has gone into daddy mode.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it!  So mine comes with a ***TW*** I was walking with DH and the two dogs to my parents house about a 15 minute walk from where we live.  We wanted to get some exercise and to get the dogs out and moving and the day was gorgeous.  As we approached a busy street that was a two lanes one way, median, then two lanes the other direction road I heard a car coming insanely fast.  I was only able to say, "They're going way too fast!" before the driver lost control, hit the curb which sent his SUV airborne right into a tree.  His SUV went sideways and he died on impact.  The car caught on fire and I ran over with DH and called 911.  We were the only witnesses so we had to stay there through the whole thing and talk to the police and the major news network came out and interviewed me.  The whole event was horribly traumatic and I had to avoid that road for months.  The interview was on a major channel so several people saw it and even BIL commented about how, "I looked good on camera  :)" on my FB which made me so angry.  I didn't want to deal with that situation, nor did I want anyone to compliment me on my interview about a horrific scene that took me months to get over and I still get flashbacks.  END ***TW***

TL;DR - I witnessed a bad car accident and was interviewed by a major news network.

Edit to say @manillabar LOL at being the pro-uniform geek!   :D

  • @stokesm21 - I'm a FTM too, so I don't know that much, but since infants shouldn't use blankets, I would put them in long sleeves to make sure they stay warm. I've always heard dress baby how you would yourself basically. So if I didn't have a blanket, I'd wear long sleeves.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?
I almost feel like I'm having a first trimester relapse this week - I've been really tired, with a bit more nausea. Boo.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope - next one is Friday

    Rants/raves?
Rave for generous people! In the last couple weeks, friends and neighbors have given us bags and bags of used baby stuff including clothes, toys, a rock and play, a swing, a play mat, and nursing pillows. I very quickly went from "we have nothing for baby" panic to "where are we going to put everything???"

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?
**Maybe TW**. Not really a question, but I realized I'm having anxiety about: what if I need a c-section? I've started to mentally prepare for labor and birth, but I honestly don't know if I could handle being awake and aware while someone is performing surgery on me. I think I need to do some reading on c-sections to prepare for that possibility. **end TW**

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it!
In college, my picture was featured on the university's homepage for a little while. I've also had a letter to the editor published in a major newspaper. Neither of those are terribly exciting, but that's all I can think of.

    Edit to add possible TW

  • @maybeitsmadeline - I just read your post and holy crap that's scary. Did you have nightmares?? I witnessed a dog fight which ended with one dog getting shot and I couldn't sleep well for a week. It's so traumatizing! I can't imagine seeing a wreck like that.

Hahaha it's a really stupid one. My cousin and I have a thing for One Direction (flame away!!!) and their last album came out the same day as Justin Bieber's. It was the JB album where his advertising is holding up a piece of paper with the name of his song/album on it. We saw a cardboard cutout of JB at Walmart where he was holding the paper that said the name of his album. So we took a piece of paper and wrote the name of 1D's album on it and taped it over JB's sign and posted it on twitter as a joke (bc there was this big fan rivalry about their albums). I woke up the next day and it was all over twitter and tumblr (which I had no clue what Tumblr was, but my friend's daughter saw it). It was like the most reposted pic on there. So I guess it's not technically a meme, but a pic.

It's all really stupid but we thought it was hilarious. We did it just to be dumb and had no clue people would repost it like that. Or get mad - there were people from other countries telling us off (although they didn't know it was us bc of all the reposts). I didn't realize people were so sensitive about JB and 1D. We didn't mean it as a bash against JB but holy cow people were mad. Haha

I told you it was stupid. ;) I fully own my immaturity of that night.

This.  I'm as prepared as one could possibly be for a task as unpredictable as delivery but I know very little about c-sections.  I have an anxiety disorder and the thought of knowing someone is rummaging around and cutting inside me while I'm awake is just not something I think I could handle.  My Dr told me that they could just put me right out but then you don't get to see baby until after you've woken up.  For that reason, I think I'd force myself to manage the consciousness.  But I agree, I definitely need to do more reading on it.  Let me know if you find a good resource!

  • @stokesm21 I will! I'm curious if they could just give me a mild sedative to make me not as anxious (like xanax or something), but I don't know if something like that would hurt the baby. I need to do some research, thinking, and talking with my doctor about all this.

  • @ginger1228 Love that story!  I always wondered how things like that get picked up and catch on like wildfire.  That's so cool!

About the wreck, I had nightmares for a few weeks and any time I had to be on that road no matter how far away it was I'd get shaky and tense.  I still have what I think is PTSD from it because when I hear that sound of a car zoom by I tense up really badly and this was almost a year ago!  I can drive that road now, but I can't look at the tree without flashbacks.  I'm not sure if I was meant to be there to be a witness since no one else saw it and of all the people that ran out of their houses to look, NOBODY called 911.  They just stared.  It's crazy how things like that happen.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?  The discharge and the scent that is associated with it :s

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?   Fetal echo today was great!  Baby cooperated and they got all the images they needed in 10 minutes.  Kid is still a stinker and wouldn't let us see his/her face.  Measuring long for 22 weeks (femur is measuring at 24 weeks) but is 1 pound 5 oz and MFM told me that she has NICU babies smaller than that!  FX we never know what that's like.

Rants/raves?   My bitchy coworkers that lack the ability to communicate like mature adults.

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it!  None really.  Never really been in the spotlight for anything and I'm ok with that.

Re: c-sections vs vaginal birth - we are prepared either way.  I will discuss with my doctor about both in the event that something happens that I would be unable to have a vaginal birth.  What I do know is that I want a 'gentle' c-section, where you are able to do skin to skin immediately after they pull the baby out as long as the baby or you isn't in distress.

re: sleeping - swaddle sacks or the sleep sacks. I found this super helpful, too

I agree @stokesm21 and @greenbean Some more info on C's would be helpful!

This is a check in for First Time Mamas.

How far along are you? 25 weeks!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not really. Today and yesterday everything in life has been manageable--meaning that's not totally why-- but I feel at times like I just got off a kids roller coaster or something where you go in circles.   I've done protein or water, not sure why.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Yes, my new OB --she was super nice! They have 2 waiting rooms, it's a process. But they only did heartbeat....so can't wait for 28 weeks as I get to see the baby!

    Rants/raves? Nope.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? I love the other thread about time for relationship as that's been on my mind.
One other ? I hear lots of people saying after 38 or 36 weeks you're ready to have the baby....is the due date a perfect 40 supposedly? (just as it seems like a lot arrive pre due)

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it! Not really. I was on the local news as a kid for some of my service to the community. I think the coolest thing might be when I was super little I got to be an elephant rider in the circus. They held the circus at my parent's business on extra land- yes like the real circus- so they had a contest for kids to ride the elephant- like a bunch- and of course somehow I got added to the list.  And that was pretty darn cool!   It comes to mind as I know for very good thoughtful ethical reasons the Ringling circus is closing, but it was cool and I mean--I was like 8 or less. (sorry hopefully no animal rights lecture here- I was little!) I didn't start being more engaged in advocacy / social justice until I was 12. :) I just kept thinking if I ever tell my son that, it will be like an old wives tale.....there was a circus and say what?

*edited because I thought of a question!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?
Anger issues. I don't know what's going on with me.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?
    Nope.
    Rants/raves?
Rants: I love it when I can feel baby moving but it keeps me up, If i don't feel baby I get extremely scared. It's driving me crazy.
My SIL has conveniently cut us off over a stupid argument she had with DH. I wasn't even a part of it. I even messaged her the other day if she wanted to join for dinner but no response. So bratty.

raves: people around me now officially know I'm pregnant, so that's nice, lots of congratulations and we are so happy for you etc so it's nice ...even from some of those that have generally not been the nicest.
Maternity wardrobe is now in place and I feel cute. Tummy is nice and biggish now.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?
Does baby movement feel like there's like a phone Viberating inside you? So strange.

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it!
Good Kind: Won speech contest once in district and once at province level and had my name in the newspapers both times. I have my name up on my Uni board for the student council Hostel deputy 2010 - 20111(which is kind of a deputy head girl but hostel representative).
bad kind: Just know that I still have ptsd over it. hint: the entire city was on lock down and searching for me.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? RLP sucks. As do non-stop Braxton-Hicks.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my monthly OB check followed by my follow-up A/S last Friday. At the OB check, the stinker would not stop kicking the Doppler or be still enough to hear the heartbeat for more than a few seconds. My OB and I were laughing. At the A/S follow-up, she then proceeded to kick the ultrasound wand and move around a lot. The tech was getting annoyed that the stinker kept putting her arm over her heart...which is what we needed to see! Everything looked good, though, and no additional checks are needed. She's measuring right at her EDD with all the measurements they took. I'm taking comfort in that.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Oh lets see. More rib pain, first night of truly unrestful sleep, hands starting to swell. Just basic pregnancy stuff.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope not until April.

Rants/raves? Hubby has been awesome. It was uncomfortable for me to shave my legs last night, so he actually did it for me. And he's been giving me massages whenever I ask.

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: Have you ever had 15 minutes of fame?  Tell us about it! Oh jeese, actually a lot of little things over the years. I was in Drama Club in high school, as well as theater in college, so there were tons of little things for all of that, including some radio and TV stuff and two lead roles. I also work as a model, so I have a little Youtube fame going on for one video about fishing. TBH it's about girls in bikinis and fishing. When I was a kid, I feel like the newspapers around here really love showcasing the different kid things going on, so I was in there for soccer, bowling, Girl Scouts, church stuff. All kinds of little things like that, and my mom saved all the newspaper clippings.

Not really.  Starting to feel huge.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?
At my last appointment, I found out the reasons I wanted a c-section probably wouldn't be considered "medically necessary" by my insurance.  It's a downer, but I'm glad I found out now and not later.

  • @theweevee out of curiosity, what are the reasons you wanted a c-section? Sorry if I missed this somewhere else.
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @rae1 I'm not sure if my reasons can be really set out without being insensitive.  (Anyone with labor/delivery fears may want skip the rest of this).

*TW* I have a family history of serious complications (including immediate family), one of which resulted in death.  I discussed this with my OB when I was six weeks, and she said that a scheduled c-section would likely be covered given my family history.  In retrospect, I think she meant to say that I would likely be able to have a c-section if those things occurred, not that I would be able to schedule in advance.  It's not a total surprise, but I did feel misled and I wish she had just said this from the beginning so I would have more time to prepare.
  • @theweevee oh wow I am so sorry to hear that. I think being afraid of labor/delivery given your family history is completely normal/understandable.
    Babysizer Cravings Pregnancy Tracker
  • @theweevee  That is all understandable.  I think given your position, I would probably feel the same way.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? I'm feeling better than I've felt in a very long time!! It's a welcome surprise in what's been a challenging pregnancy, both mentally and physically.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?  Saw my midwife last Monday. My ultrasounds showed that baby is anatomically fine, except sonographer noted that there is 'debris' in the gall bladder. My midwife told me not to worry about it, it's likely nothing. I hope everything's ok.

Rants/raves? I'm on hardcore iron pills and back on my anti-depressants and I feel amazing! I'm going to enjoy this for as long as I can before the uncomfortable third trimester symptoms start.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Midwife appointment last week. Was good, heartbeat is in the 140's and peanut is in a good position. I suffer from chronic pain so she wants me to get a referral to a psychiatrist to be proactive about post partum because I'm at a higher risk due to my other medical challenges. Forgot to ask about GD testing so going to call her this week to ask about it.

Rants/raves? For the most part doing good, some days are a struggle because I feel like I should be feeling more pregnant than I am. Some financial stress with DH having been out of work most of the last year but we're making it work the best we can. Excited to see how the next 15 weeks go with everything
