Has anyone tried both? In your research or experience what are your opinions about Clomid vs Femara? I have a doc appointment this week and am trying to get a list of questions ready. I have used Clomid the last two cycles, unsuccessfully. TIA

I've only used Clomid, not Femara, but if you search the board for both terms you'll find a ton of discussion about them and see others' experiences.

@mandabee33 Yes quite a few of us have, check out the pinned newbie thread, introduce yourself on the newbie thread and check on the IF thread. There are many of us in medicated cycles. I personally have only tried Femara and I'm in the middle of my first cycle right now. If you post in the IF thread and give us more about your history we can provide you with more info.

@eggplantface I feel like I somehow offended you and I apologize if I did. I didn't find what I was looking for when I searched. I am new here. I introduced myself on the newbie board a couple weeks ago. I am really nervous about my appointment and was just looking for some information. I'm sorry if I did something wrong, but it wasn't intentional. I hope you have a good day.
@mandabee33 You didn't offend me, I just wanted to show you there are lots of posts from people who had tried both meds. Searching the boards provided me a wealth of information when I first got here because there are several years' worth of posts from women who have been through everything you can imagine.

@mandabee33 I have used both Clomid and Femara in the past. I had little to no side effects from either but that's just me. Have you been seeing an RE? You should be properly monitored when taking them. From what I remember, Clomid can be especially dangerous if not monitored when taking it. If you are not seeing an RE, your doctor should refer you to one.
@WitandWhimsy Thank you for the reply. I am on my 10th cycle of TTC and this week will start my 3rd round of Clomid (50mg). I am under the care of my OBGYN. I have an appointment Thursday to talk about more options including a referral to a specialist. I get a 21 day progesterone test every month as well.
TW lurker @mandabee33 You are definitely going to get told here that you should not, under any circumstance, take clomid under the care of anyone but an RE. I am not familiar with clomid or femara personally, but I'd advise you not to begin the 3rd round until you see an RE. I think there's have a lifetime max of 6 rounds and you don't want to waste them under the care of a doctor who isn't a specialist in that.

@mandabee33 is your OB doing base line US and follie checks? if not Please do not do another medicated cycle with them. Clomid is a serious drug that many OB's hand out like candy. There is risk for HOM, and permanent effects on your fertility (thinning of your uterine lining). I have never taken clomid and have taken Femera 8 times. For me I have minimal side effects on Femera. Typically most women have less side effects with femera than clomid but everyone is different. Also some women respond to one and not the other. I would recommend introing on the IF thread. Its an amazing group of women with a lot of great info.
