I've been cruising "The Bump" since about six weeks, finally registered at 12 weeks and this is my first post. I usually get on here to read and figured I would just introduce myself. Mostly because I couldn't handle the first-tri posts concerning caffeine and mercury-laden fish as I loaded up on tuna fish and slurped diet cokes!
I'm Lori, 32-years-old, married to Ben (wonderful DH who rubs my feet every night), this is my first, and this pregnancy was TOTALLY A SURPRISE (although we knew we were doin' what it took to make one!!)
I kept telling my husband "32-year-olds don't just 'pop up' pregnant." Well, who knew, right? I've had friends who had problems conceiving so I thought it would take a while. We laugh about this daily as we rub the belly.
I was miserable sick the first twelve weeks and telling anyone who would listen that whole "pregnancy is beautiful" thing was a lie perpetuated on women so we would continue to increase the world's population.
I'm now in the "wonderful" phase were I'm not sick, I can eat fourteen million things a day, and am sporting a bump and don't just look "fat". So, things are better.
I guess that's probably WAY too much information but I did have one question. I have my BIG ultrasound on the 26th and we are finding out what we are having (God Bless you "Team Green" women, I am so not good with surprises and it is KILLING ME that I don't yet know what this "Little Poker" is!!)
I've had a pretty uneventful pregnancy so far (even thought I'm just superstitious enough to HATE saying that) but I do have aching hips at this point about four times a week. They aren't horribly uncomfortable, but I was wondering if this was normal for anyone else? And if you guys know of anything more than just Tylenol-or heroin (-that I can take or do to make it go AWAY. Or, am I just stuck with them? More pillows at night?
I hope to hell that my ticker pops up with this post as I do not want the Ticker Po-Po after my ass.
Re: De-Lurking To Introduce
okay, you rock.
welcome to 2nd tri!
oh, and a lot of women swear by the snoogle, but I just switch sides frequently throughout the night to slow down the hip pain.
and tylenol is about as far as I would recommend without talking to the doctor.:)
unless, you know, you get a good deal on heroin.
welcome. I'm not a real regular poster, but I thought I'd respond anyways. I also have hip pain, andI am currently just dealing with it. I am trying to stay drug-free as much as possible, although I'm sure just a little heroin never hurt anyone! I like to think that stretching and exercising also helps the hips, but I don't really know. Just warning you, the longer you stay on this board, the more you'll want to cloth diaper! My fam already thinks I'm certifiably nutso (or at least a "treehugger" as my dad calls me)
hehe, you can ignore the bottom of my post, i thought i was still on the eco-friendly family board (that's where my wierd cloth diapering comes in)
Welcome to second tri (and my pregnancy brain!)
Well, I DO know that you do not try to enter a tribe without first trying to learn its rules!
Thanks you guys! I looked at several boards before deciding on this one.
Yes, I even visited BabyGaGa and wondered how all those seventeen-year-olds got access to the internets and the ability to post naked pics! I guess now I'll NEVER be the "hot pregnant chick of the week" over there. Woe as me.
LMAO. I am having a hard enough time giving it up to DH. Who in the hell wants to be naked on the net while PG. Hilarious!!!
Welcome and congrats!
Okay, I'm hearing "snoogle" more than once, so I might have to try that. I do have a body pillow but I find I curse and flail at it more than snuggle with it. We do not have a good relationship-me and that horrid pillow. I wish death and disfeatherment upon it about four times a night.
I looked at the snoogle online and it looks like it keeps you in a more stable position. That might help with the hips.
Ditto to everyone else, you are very welcome to the board!
I have found that the best thing for me re: sleeping and hip pain is to prop up about 4 pillows and sleep on an incline. I've always been a back sleeper and it's been driving me crazy to have it be forbidden. Now that I've grown accustomed to sleeping at about 45 degrees, I'm making it through the night. It's wonderful. It's also helped a lot with daytime hip pain, somehow.
Oh, and ditto to the stretching rec.
