My dog started ignoring me as soon as I got pregnant, before we had even taken a test. If I went upstairs, she went down and if I went down, she went up. She did this for pretty much up until a couple weeks ago and now she's back to hanging out with me, she's even cool with getting up on the couch when I'm there. I think she got freaked out by my new smell or something and she's just finally gotten use to it....which is great considering it's all about to change again. Poor dog friend.
Also, I just found out my flask I ordered for DH is backordered until April 21. I'm so bummed. That on top of the fact that I left my new insulated water bottle at Target yesterday (which of course they haven't found) and this little hat I ordered to go with the maybe going home outfit, doesn't match.
@McFarKane the night my water broke with DS I tried to get a few hours sleep on the couch while contractions were mild. The dog was driving me nuts in her create, whining and trying to get out- she ususally prefers sleeping there than anywhere else. I finally let her out to sleep with me on the couch, and she tore apart like 3 tennis balls, right beside me the whole time. While we were in the hospital, she drove my sister nuts! She paced and whined all the time and wouldn't eat. I swear, dogs know what is going on.
@KirstinH88 I do traditional too and it can be a bitch. That year I got him a tomato plant because he plants tomatoes every year and an iTunes gift card. Just wait till year six, it's candy. That one sucked too. I got him a candy banana hammock. I thought it was hilarious, him not so much.
@KirstinH88 I had a hard time with year 4 also... I ended up doing wine, but if your husband doesn't like that, maybe some gourmet chocolate covered fruits or something could work? Mmm now I want chocolate!
@BabyBlake042017 chocolate covered strawberries sound amazing!!! Since he never gets me anything (different rant for a different day), maybe I'll get some for myself!
My dog has been having more accidents lately. Any tips on how to get rid of that urine smell? We mop with bleach but it's still there and it lingers. We have tile floor.
@beemaya83 my mom swears by a product called Natures Miracle- its a pet stain and order remover. She has a dog with a leaking bladder and if she isn't on medication, she leaks urine when relaxed.
@beemaya83 Hmm, I don't know about tile floors, but baking soda has worked wonders on our carpets and furniture to remove pet odor smells. Maybe making a baking soda paste and letting it sit on the spot for a while before cleaning/vacuuming it up? Nature's Miracle also works really well (again I've only ever used it on carpet/furniture), and I know they have a "hard floor" cleaner that would probably work for tile.
DH officially accepted his new job! Even though it feels like a huge leap of faith, we are so excited to be back with friends and family! Now the official process begins (at 38+5! Eek) of getting our house on the market ASAP, me applying for jobs, getting pre approved for new housing, house hunting 5 hours away, and packing. Have to be moved out at the beginning of June. Good thing a new baby means plenty of visitors. Aka people to help clean and pack while they are here

I second Nature's Miracle! We had a dog with incontinence issues, so we became very familiar with it. Using it combined with sunshine really helped with the smells.
So I'm talking to my mom on the phone yesterday and our conversation went a little like this: Mom: "just so you know, I wanted to have a shower for you, but you thought it was stupid". Me: "what? what are you talking about?" Mom:"nothing, just forget it" Me: "mom, seriously...whats up? Why are you bringing up this shower thing?" Mom: "nothing, just let it go. I just wanted to throw you one and you said it was stupid having another one for your second. I wanted to invite everyone" (meaning my 2nd aunts and 2nd cousins) Me: "well yea, I hardly talk to those people and I don't want to seem gift grabby...especially because I'm having another boy. Thats why I wanted to do a sip and see. Something different and no one feels obligated to bring a gift. People already attend DS's birthday and give him gifts, I'd hate to have another shower 'just because'. We dont need anything" Mom: "okay, fine. I get it."
WTF just happened??? Obviously, me not having a shower has been weighing heavily on her shoulders. BUT I think its because she was a part of my cousin's bridal shower and they were "showering" her with gifts, and she wants the same thing for me.
@wagnerw Yay - congrats! I know it'll all be crazy but being closer to what's important to you will be well worth it. Looking forward to our turn to do this in a few months.
I don't think we had a WTF Wednesday this week, but WTF to my husband who cannot keep it in his brain that he needs to get a TDap vaccine. He is a student and can get the vaccine at a very low cost through the university health center. I asked him earlier this week to please take care of it so that it's already done once LO gets here, and he said he would. Asked him today to please do it today or tomorrow, and he said he'd do it tomorrow. I've asked him THREE TIMES since that conversation if he's called to see whether he needs to schedule an appointment or if he can just walk in. Each time he says he's gonna do it but as of several minutes ago, he still had not called. I understand he's stressed and busy, but I have a lot on my mind as well and still manage to keep the health of our daughter at the forefront of what's important. I got my TDap weeks ago. Just get it done DH!!!
Yeah I've also got my WTF... My boss just came into my office to essentially tell me how grateful I should be that he hasn't given me any new work recently... Considering I already work basically two positions for the price of one and my back log typically runs at 3 weeks, wouldn't it only make sense to NOT puke on shit that probably won't get done before my leave? And then he was trying to convince me to take all my vacation next week, too. All because I asked to work from home tomorrow since he's on vacation.
@schef070911 ahhh you just reminded me that my step son still hasn't got his TDAP and I told my DH that he was in charge of that one thing (I already made sure he got his when we did my anatomy scan). Apparently at 11-12 yrs you need a booster. One week until this baby is born and he still hasn't taken him to get it! Aye
I'm getting a prenatal massage today after work. YAY! My concern is this, I'm so gross when I leave work! I have crotch sweat from sitting in a fake leather chair. I have boob sweat and I feel like bra stinks every day. I brought a change of underwear with me, but I'm afraid I will be super gross and stinky by the time 5pm rolls around. Are the massage therapists OK with that? Is it to be expected?
@rachelmiller03 I totally feel the whole boob sweat thing. I only have two bras at the moment bc nothing fits.. so I'm constantly washing them bc I'm worried they smell.. I'd try doing a quick wipe down with wipes or damp paper towels before going.
@rachelmiller03 I totally know what you mean! I had an osteopath appt this week after a long day on my feet and I have to take my shirt off and she has her hands all over me adjusting and massaging... I was sensitive about being gross so I stopped at the drug store on the way and grabbed wipes and areosol deodorant and quickly used those in the bathroom before hand. I felt much better!
I know I'm not alone in this, but I just can't wait to meet my baby! According to my doctor I'm 39+1 today, so no matter what happens I'll meet her in less than three weeks (but certainly hoping for sooner).

And then, I'm gonna be a bit of a whine-r right now. We had to do a school district transfer for DS so that he could go to the same school as the DSSes. They just called and the lady said that DS most likely won't get into the same school. She said they only have two classrooms and kids that live in district are first priority and their classrooms always fill up. But there is the possibility to get him in at another school in the district. She also said one of the schools is doing a dual language immersion program, so some kids might decide to go to that school instead, but I'm not holding my breath for that. We won't know until August. So basically, her advice is that we enroll DS into a school near us just so that he has a spot in case he doesn't get into a Kinder class in the school district we want. Ugh...
I never got the rumored second trimester burst of energy, but I am getting the end of pregnancy one. Today I got my car repaired, went to the grocery store, made two freezer meals, and baked cookies. No idea where that energy came from. (And as soon as the second sheet of cookies comes out of the oven I'm crashing on the couch.)

I just got off the phone with my mom. She was upset because they're not doing any cervical/ dilation checks on me at my obgyn until my due date. She said she had me 10 days early and the only reason she knew she was in labor was because at her weekly the Dr. Did a cervical check and she was 5cm dilated and he sent her straight to the hospital. What she thought was me "being active and kicking a lot" was actually contractions. Is anyone else less than two weeks out and never been checked for dilation? I've also got only 10 days left and my baby has been crazy active for the last 24 hours...
@catem07 I want some too! My to do list this weekend is so long. 28 more thank you notes to write, install car seat, meal planning for baby (some freezer meals if we have room in the freezer), cleaning my bedroom because I've been so focused on the rest of the house that I haven't been bothered, sanitize breast pump parts, decorate nursery, wash all nursing clothes, finish packing hospital bag. And looking at the list I kinda just want to take a nap instead. It doesn't help that it's gray and rainy. Bleh.
@KaraMG35 I'm 38w2d and I've only been checked once (at 36w), but that was by choice. I'll probably ask to get checked again at 39w to see if I've progressed any. I know there are at least a few people here whose OB/midwife doesn't check until labor starts though....?
@KaraMG35 my check was totally voluntary, but he did ask, and I said yes just to see what my starting place is. But @schef070911 is right. Some other ladies have said the same as you. You could call your doc I guess and ask. Since so many doctors don't bother, I would guess they're not concerned based on the rarity of you not knowing you're in labor like your mom didn't. On the other hand, if you called and asked you could use your mom's situation as a reason why you'd like to be checked.
DH thinks I am silly for wanting a special easter outfit for the baby now that we know no matter what he'll be here before easter. He thinks we have enough clothes and doesn't see the point of getting something for one day, which I get, but it's also fun! If we go to 41 weeks we could be coming home on or near easter too! I mostly want the easter outfit for a photo op/memory. Anyone else getting easter outfits?!
@BabyBlake042017 That first one is so cute!! I'm not getting an Easter outfit only because I'm not sure if he will be here for Easter or not. I'd totally love for him to be early. But last night I confessed to DH that I don't want him to be here early enough for Easter because 1) I want to enjoy the holiday with my other boys, but most importantly, 2) I don't want to have to share him at a family holiday. I want to be able to hold him and have him for at least a few days before other people start wanting to hog him!
@BabyBlake042017 I have an easter outfit ready and waiting and it matches his sisters. My husband also thinks it's silly and doesn't understand. It's a constant argument with us. I think it's worth it.
