I don't know about you ladies, but similar to how I planned my wedding before I met DH, I've been planning my nursery since before I met him as well. Hope no one minds that I made this thread so early. Would love to hear your ideas or what STMs+ have done in the past!
I'm obsessed with everything RH Baby and Child which I definitely can't afford but am planning on doing a lookalike type thing. I'm going for a mostly neutral grey and white nursery with some dusty blue or blush touches depending on boy or girl.
This is a bit elaborate for me with that crown but overall I love the colors and how bright and clean it is.
Love how simple and bright this one is as well, so peaceful!
The room we will have for our nursery is already painted grey with one walk striped horizontally grey and purple. I have absolutely no clue what I'm going to do with it.. we are not finding out if it's a boy or a girl, so I will probably just keep the paint the way it is. I'm thinking we will take dark wood colored crib, and other furniture. My main thing is that I want a giant comfy grey rocking chair in the corner of the room!
I always dreamt of having a wonderful themed nursery and everything amazing, but I have 4 other kids (although this is my first biological) and there's no way we can spend a lot of money or do anything major... probably a lot of our stuff will be second hand
If it's a girl definitely doing suns and rainbows-- b/c she will be my little rainbow baby! If boy- can't really do rainbows (even though he would be my rainbow baby) so I told my husband he could choose. For our son he chose superhero theme. I am nudging him to do something kinda funky like robots!
We already have all the furniture so it will really just be painting and hanging stuff up.
I did an extremely bright nursery with DS. The walls are teal and he has a white dresser & crib. His curtains are bright orange with white polka dots and we have several orange and grey accents. We found some cute fox prints on Etsy and thus a theme was born. It is so stinking cute.
For the new baby I am leaning towards either a Harry Potter theme or a space theme. I am currently on the hunt for the perfect grey wall color.
Baby will be coming in the middle of living in a one-year rental apartment. His or her room will likely be the master bedroom walk in closet. Fancy, I know.
@kissthesky32 my friend actually did that with her first and she LOVED it! She had the baby with her in a bassinet for a while and then switched to the crib in the closet. It was great for her because she wanted the baby in the room with her for a full year per the new standards. They're now in a 2 bedroom and will have the same setup with their new baby on purpose, their older daughter will be in her own room.
I'm the same way. We've had the nursery planned a year ago, wayyy before DH was even ready to think about babies. He's still not ready haha but we are doing under the sea whether boy or girl. It'll be different than most and be focused around sharks, jellyfish and turtles instead of fish and the like. I'm so excited to see it come to life
Hey ladies, here is my nursery from my first. I probably won't change much for number two since I kept it pretty neutral. I can't wait to see everyone's pics. I love nurseries, it is such a fun room to decorate.
Our house is one bedroom, so until we can do a room addition in a few years the "nursery" will be a corner in the living room or hallway. Our room is tiny, bit my guess is that we'll also wind up with a bassinet up there, at least in the beginning.

Our bub will be sharing with my 4year old daughter. She needs a new bedroom set up so we'll do them together. White furniture. Navy bedding. Blush accents for my daughter and same for this bub if its a girl. If it's a boy we'll do mint/muted aqua accents.
With my first DS, I did a very traditional light blue room with white furniture and Winnie the Pooh decorations and accessories everywhere. (Which 10 years later he shares his room with his 7 year old step brother and their room is red and tan with Red Sox and Patriots memorabilia everywhere). With my second DS, I painted the walls a very neutral tan color, used white furniture, and did a woodland theme. I painted a tree on the wall and used wall decal animals to decorate it more throughout the room. (5 years later, he shares his room with his 6 year old step sister and its decorated half "light blue and boyish" and the other half light purple and girlish". With DS 3, I painted his room a very gender neutral teal color with brown accessories. It actually doesn't have a theme per se, just really nicely decorated and hopefully this LO will share a room with him when ready to leave our bedroom. Maybe it'll be more themed by then. We'll see...
We live in a one bedroom apt. The br is already a medium grey, and we'll probably all stay in here at first. I want lots of elephants!
In time, we'll move our bed out to the living room and give the br to the baby/babies. It will be tight, but the living area is L shaped, so with some kind of divider we can make it work. We thought we could stay in this apt for a long time, but if twins stick, it might not be feasible.
For DD we did butterflies. Nothing too elaborate but I made 3D pink butterflies with rhinestone bodies for her wall.
We recently moved to a bigger house so our kids will have their own rooms. If we have another girl I'm not sure what I want to do for a theme.
For a boy I want to do woodland theme specifically foxes but I am also going to float some ideas past my husband that I think he will be more on board for like Pokémon (not the dark kind but I found some watercolor paintings on etsy that look super cute).
@bklynchica - My DS's room is grey with elephants! It's grey walls with medium-tone distressed wood furniture and white/navy accents. And elephant pictures, sheets, sleep sacks, throw blanket, etc.
I love these themes! Pokeman, woodlands, butterflies... It all sounds so fun!! I never really thought of doing a "theme" per se, but I definitely want fun little pieces sprinkled around. The overall aesthetic I like is very light, airy and soft, with a little bit of a whimsical touch. I want mostly whites and grays for the big ticket items, which seems similar to @abaume and @DuchessOfCambridge.
I'm also obsessed with the idea of fish, Dr. Seuss and motorcycles...which I know is so random. Haha. So if it's a boy I will probably go for fish and motorcycle accent pieces and if it's a girl I'll probably do more of a Dr. Seuss flair. And honestly, nursery decorating might be near the top of my list on things I'm looking forward to most.
We live in a historic home that was built in the 30's. We have real wood walls throughout, and we like the look of that so I won't be painting anything. My plan *right now* is to keep everything neutral in the crib and bedding and accent with dusty pink/rose or dusty blue depending on what the gender is. Ideally I would like to be able to use the crib/bedding for multiple children that way there won't be that much of an expense every time on those types of things

I'm definitely not showing pics of my 18 month olds lol. It's definitely not as cool as the ones posted here. You ladies have talent :-) When belly baby arrives he or she will be in the master with us for the first year or so and then we will make a decision about the two children sharing or losing our guest bedroom.
LO will be in a bassinet in our room until they sleep fairly well through the night then will be sharing a room with DD until we can move out of our tiny house. DD knows that if we have a baby ( haven't told her yet as she's five and can't keep a secret) that she will be getting a loft bed so she will be thrilled when we tell her. Beyond that no plans till we know gender.
Since all of my friends had their babies in rock in plays next to the bed for the first few months, I'm planning on that. The crib will be in the guest room and we'll just use a pack'n'play when we have company. We have a 3 bdrm house and DD's room *could* be shared, but it's all of maybe 10x10. And since my parents are out of state, we can't really get rid of the guestroom. I'd love to have an *actual* nursery for decorating purposes, but I'm trying to look at this as a fun challenge.

I cannot wait to do the nursery. What's so funny is that I've spent at least 2 years pinning ideas that I love, and now that we're finally pregnant I have no idea what to do! We won't do anything until we know gender.
We currently have two guest rooms, and the smaller will turn into the nursery. Ironically that's the room we never "did" anything to when we moved in. Our dedicated guest room got a complete renovation (paint, crown molding, brand new bedroom set, etc) when we moved in. The other room we just left the ugly tan color it already was, it's got my bed from my parents house along with two non-matching end tables. Hardly anyone stays in there unless we need to use it. We've always said our reason for not putting the time or money into it was because eventually it'll become a nursery. I cannot believe that day is here!
With my son, we did a woodland animal type theme, before it was popular. So I had a hard time finding things for it, but it was cute still. For my daughter, no theme- just a light teal and pink room. I had two floral paintings prior and used those. For my second daughter, we didn't find out boy/girl before she was born. I bought a cute, nuetral sheep crib sheet and when she came, we never did anything else to her room. She has my first daughter's furniture. For this one, it will probably be of similar caliber. Honestly, I had way more fun finding things for their "big kid" rooms than the nursery. I've found it's not very necessary to go crazy for a baby's room.

I love this line from Cecelia and the Satellite. DH and I have a collage of travel pictures in our living room that surround a map with the "For all the places I have been, I'm no place without you" line from that song as well. I just think it's so sweet. I'd like to have this bigger and placed above the crib or changing table. I'm big into monograms so we might do a giant monogram above the crib instead and nothing else to keep it clean looking. DH and I also have a wooden monogram above our bed that was our wedding guest book...it'd be cute to do something similar at the baby shower though we won't be sharing the name.
@DuchessOfCambridge I've thought about putting something similar in our nursery. We went to his concert not long after we found out and that song totally made me cry. They also had a onesie for sale that DH would not let me get even though it was technically baby's first concert.

We are still quite cautious about doing any planning...but I think we have an idea for a nursery. It will likely be travel themed because we love to travel and would include items we have collected from around the world. It would be a good gender neutral theme they could grow into later.
Then would make a much cuter, kid version looking one of these that would have all the cities we have gone to abroad and the distance to them from our house:
I feel so lazy lol. My husband and I are planning on keeping the baby in our bedroom initially and then when it's a bit older we're just going to set up a crib in the (mostly fully-furnished) guest bedroom. It has a lot of my things from when I was young, it definitely has a young and cheerful feel to it, and I am not repainting a damn thing in that room so soon after buying the house omg. Also I am not buying new furniture other than a crib.

We're going to keep the baby with us for quite a while too, maybe the full recommended year but I NEED TO NEST. And have a calm room to rock my child to sleep in even though that's not the room they will stay asleep in
@dragonfly87 That is adorable! My whole house kind of has a travel theme, including the nursery.
Between last pregnancy, being a teacher, and having 12 nieces and nephews... well the nursery is already pretty much done since it's a kids' guest room and place to store extra school books, toys, and games that are too "babyish" for the current level I teach. We have a twin bed in there that will be swapped with a crib SIL gave us, plus we are buying a new crib and dresser. Other than that, it has a US map, a framed print about enjoying the journey and not the destination, a round pillow with another map, etc. Thinking about putting a rainbow on the wall, or maybe a hot air balloon with multicolored balloons on top as an homage to Up. We already have a PNP, cosleeper, bouncer, swing, and exersaucer in there along with some clothes that were passed down from future LO's cousins and friends. Kind of takes the fun out of it, but I don't have to do much at all! We will move sometime in the next few years, so I won't bother to change it.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
