Girl name help

We've been trying to pick a girl name, we have a daughter Elaina Jo. We like more classic names and try to stay away from overly popular but it isn't an absolute exclusion if it is.
Since this is most likely our last we've been trying to pick an Irish girl name but are having a hard time finding one that we like easilly pronounced.
I like Nora, Brenna, Wren, or Willa.
My husband also likes Evelyn.
I know not all stated are irish, just names we like.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Girl name help

  • I think there are a lot of great Irish names but I see your point about pronunciation. I love Nora but DH isn't fond of it.

    other Irish names to consider:
    Agnes
    Belinda
    Brenna
    Brigid
    Colleen
    Deidre
    Erin (too obvious? Hah)
    Maura
  • From your list I love Willa (clear winner), I also like Wren and Nora. Brenna is NMS.

    Suggestions:
    Frances
    Una
    Gwen
    Aoife
    Hazel
    Róisín
    Siobhan
    Clementine
    Fiona

  • I love Brenna, it's a beautiful name. Other suggestions...

    Imogen
    Carys
    Fiona
    Maeve
    Bridget
Fia- my parents had an Irish friend named Fia, and I've always loved it.
    Meghan
    Darcey
    Caitlin
    Fallon

  • Love Siobhan. I worked with a girl who married an Irish lad and they named their daughter Orla. I always thought it was really sweet.
  • Suggesting or seconding

    Orla
    Bridget/Brigid
    Maura
    Colleen
    Shannon
    Erin
    Brenna
    Ciara

  • Throwing additional support behind

    Bridget
    Fiona
    Agnes
    Frances
    Colleen
  • I love Nora and Wren. Also love Carys. What about Rosemary or Rosalie? I don't know if those are Irish, but they're very classic and seem to have the feel you like.
  • If Irish is of interest suggest Iris, Eileen, Maeve. Wren is my favorite of your choices.
  • Brenna and Nora. Love love love.

  • My Goddaughter is Norah. Love it spelled Nora also!

Yes. Inknow someone with this name and she hates it! No one ever knows what her name is or how to spell it.
  • Agreed ^ honestly I have no idea how to pronounce Siobhan????
We also can't use Moira, although it's my favorite because last name sounds like more and we can't use Megan because that is my name :)
I feel like the only one we've liked is Brenna out of Irish names we've found.
I do like Fiona but wasn't sure how much shameless would be a reference for her name? Haha

  • With Fiona, I wouldn't worry about Shameless references following your daughter. By the time her generation is old enough to watch that sort of thing, it will be long gone. I'd be more worried about Shrek at least when she's young.
