Pregnancy Ticker

Re: Tuesday Ticker Change 3/21

  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    8 weeks!

    2. How are you feeling?
Terrible, I am so nauseous for most of the day and just feel like my limbs are made of lead. My first pregnancy was so easy, and this one seems to be making up for it.

    3. Any appointments this week?
    Unfortunately not until April 13th

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
I don't know why, but 8 weeks seems like a turning point to me. Like I'm finally pregnant "enough" to not feel silly about referring to myself as pregnant. I know that doesn't make much sense.

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?
Baby will share a room with us for the first year, and if it's a boy will then share with DS. If it's a girl we'll probably convert our guest room. I'm dreading that because we frequently have our parents in town for extended visits and really kind of need a guest room.

  • My husband brought up to me over the weekend that I am due on November 3rd instead of November 7th so I am moving to the Friday change group.  Love you Tuesday gals though  <3
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    7 weeks
    2. How are you feeling?
So blah. Bloated, nausea, burping constantly, greasy hair, pimples, fatigue, mood swings, rage.
    3. Any appointments this week?
    None until next week.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
I need help getting over the blahs. I can't feel excited for more than half a minute at a time. It's exhausting.

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?
My pinterest is full of chickadees. I guess when you take up bird watching at the same time you get pregnant, that's to be expected.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 7 weeks

    2. How are you feeling? All food is gross and my emotions and rage are all over the place.

    3. Any appointments this week? First appointment is Thursday.

    4. Rants, raves, questions? We are going to tell our parents this weekend. I'm dying keeping this a secret so I can't wait to finally tell them. If DH had his way we wouldn't tell anyone at all.

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it? I have so many Pinterest boards of nursery stuff. I think we are going to go with gray and then add pops of color depending on the sex. I also really like the adventure/travel theme.

  • I'm not sure how to copy the questions when typing from IPhone... any way here is my reply
    1. Weeks: 7 weeks
    2. Feeling? Happy tomorrow is our first ultrasound
    3. Appointment. Tomorrow at 10:30! Counting the minutes
4.questions. My husband seems to be having the emotional changes instead of me... so I have to calm him down and tell him everything is going to be ok...weird right?
5.GTKY. The baby will probably will be at my DS current room, and we will buy a bed for our son. So nothing new to the nursery.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    7 weeks

    2. How are you feeling?
emotional, more rage than anything else.
    3. Any appointments this week?
    Next Monday is our first
    4. Rants, raves, questions?
My DH needs to stop being a TW about everything. I'm about to take up residence on the couch at night or DD room. I was promised a supportive partner for this pregnancy but I might as well have a roommate (though I think a roommate would be more helpful).
    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?
no plans just yet. I still have to clear out that room. This house needs more storage spaces.
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 5 weeks!

    2. How are you feeling? Doing okay today. A little nauseous this morning though

    3. Any appointments this week? Not for 2 more weeks.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
Keeping it a secret when this is all I've wanted is hard! And I'm so scared something will be wrong when we go for our first appt. And I don't know how to say that to DH.

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?
We're doing under the sea with sharks, jellyfish and turtles! I have an obsession with the first two and DH is obsessed with turtles. So we decided to combine them.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    7 weeks

    2. How are you feeling?
Miserable.  Still not keeping much down.  Starting to be concerned about dehydration.  I was supposed to have an appointment on March 28th but it got pushed to April 4.  I was planning on talking to them about it on the 28th but if things don't improve in the next few days, I may have to at least just put in a phone call to a nurse and see if they want to see me in person even without a u/s to see if we need to do anything before April.  This has been an issue before so it's not new, but maybe just seems worse this time because I have two littles to take care of now.

    3. Any appointments this week?
Continuing acupuncture through first tri.  But other than that no appointments specifically for pregnancy until the April 4th one.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
I'm not sure if this was heightened by any type of pregnancy rage or just my normal reaction, but my MIL and I went to see Beauty and the Beast and it didn't end well.  My ILs are generally good people.  They genuinely love our children and we get along for the most part.  However, they are also racist and as we exited the theater, my MIL went on about how offended she was about the "blatant multiracial couples" in the movie.  WTAF.  I couldn't just let that go and while it didn't turn into a flat out fight, I was firm about my feelings on it and what I will and will not tolerate being said in front of my children - my kids weren't there but I did want to make sure she knew there was a difference in saying that to me and having a conversation about it versus saying it to my 2 or 3 year old.  My H and I have had a lot of conversations in the past to make sure we were in agreement regarding our feelings about all this and what sort of relationship we have with them so we can back each other up without hesitation so I feel good there at least.

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?
I did a gender neutral nursery on purpose with my DS so that we would not have to do much switching out for future children.  It's a tiny little room, but makes a good nursery, and our theme is owls.  This is from when we first painted it back in 2013 a few months before DS arrived.  I basically just put different things on the shelves and swap out the name on the wall. ;)

  • @DuchessOfCambridge - It is hard sometimes.  DH's brother is gay and my ILs told BIL that he could not live in the same city as them because his "lifestyle choice" reflected poorly on their family.  My H was also told he would be disowned if he ever dated anyone who was not white.  Led to my DH moving out right at 18, severing all ties, and not speaking to his parents for over 10 years.  His parents worked hard to mend those relationships, but there is still a lot of baggage between them all and my ILs still hold a lot of views in direct opposition to ours.  We feel like if we don't associate with them at all, those tough conversations won't happen that will perhaps help them see things differently and they will continue to live in a bubble of hate.  We do have to draw our lines in the sand and we for sure don't want our children to be told they can't be who they are or can't be with the person they love.  The ILs have actually been respectful of our boundaries in terms of interactions with the children, so it remains a tricky situation, but I feel like we are navigating it okay for now.  I thought the movie was beautifully done in many ways. <3

  • 1. How many weeks are you?  8 Weeks

    2. How are you feeling? I'm alright, nauseous when I don't eat, thrown up only a few times, but I do sometimes in my mouth which is never fun either.  Constipated and some gas.  Bloated and sore boobs.  I hate when some of my symptoms go away, but so far they have always come back!

    3. Any appointments this week? None this week; Follow up U/S next week

    4. Rants, raves, questions? Like @TraceeM if I don't eat my symptoms get worse and then I have to force feed myself so I don't feel like complete crap! I hate WAITING for the next appointment.  I feel like the 1st tri is so hard especially //TW// after a loss! my dr has been very good, letting me get blood test right away and now with my follow up U/S.  I really love her and with my last pregnancy I didn't get this, so it's nice having someone on my side.

My DH has been AMAZING!!! He has been so extremely helpful around the house, putting dishes away, doing laundry... I can't say enough good things about him! I love my DH so much :)

    5. GTKY: are you going with a theme (animals, boats, a color combination) for your pregnancy or for the nursery? If so, what is it?  We are going with a "outdoors" nature theme! We love camping and the woods so it's perfect for our little boy or girl.  I like greige walls and then will have pops of color with buffalo plaid curtains and ascents.  My sister is a great artist so she is painting a few pictures of little woodland creatures!
  • @kschref good for you for standing up to them. I had to have a similar conversation last week with my in-laws when they were in town. I told them I wasn't going to attempt to sway their opinions but I did have issue with it being said in front of my kids. Especially since we have friends/family members of different races and sexualities.

My paternal grandfather was blatantly racist and I clearly remember him saying things in front of me. My mom always used it as a teaching point for the kinds of attitude we needed to stand up against. I know no matter how much I ask them to keep it to themselves that we will one day have to have a similar conversation with our kids.
