    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    CD: 15

WAYDTGKU: OPKs (question below), temping, and having so much (for me!) sex that my (huh-hmm) lady parts hurt today  :#

R/R: Rave: DH and I went on a little date to celebrate our anniversary (it's next week). We never get to go out, so it was really nice!

CS/Q: I'm not sure if this goes here but I am having serious issues with the OPKs and wonder if anyone can relate: the digital ones (clear blue advanced) gave me a solid smiley on the 16th, but the cheapie were darkish that day but clearly not positive... they turned positive this AM, on the 18th... and I haven't had a temp spike (expect one tomorrow or Monday)... and something similar happened last cycle... so what's up? Do I have a long LH surge and the cheapie has a higher threshold? I had sex on the 16th, 17th, and 18th, just to be sure, but I simply don't have it in me to do it tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone had insights into discrepancies between ovulations tests...

GTKY: What was the last text message you sent? "God that was a good movie." (This relates to my above comment... DH and I actually found alone time to go to a movie! We saw GET OUT, and OMG was it good! It looked wholly unappealing to me, but my students talked me into it, and I am so glad they did. Totally enjoyable and not too scary---other than its social commentary).

TigerCakes Similar to my last text to DH ;)

morado23 I’m totally into sleep masks too! I have a lavender one that is THE BOMB. Hope you get your nap!

cdnrunning Heave periods can go F themselves. I’m sorry.

@georgiagirl3050 It’s the worst when you get your hopes up… I try to have an overly negative attitude about my chances even before the TWW (“Oh my CM wasn’t fertile, so no chance”) just to psych myself out, but it doesn’t work… Hugs for CD1… but a fresh start!

@Cricket648 I know that last cycle I O’d… just sure of it and my temp spike happened two days later… I think I O’d late at night on a Monday and didn’t see the temp spike until I took my temp on Wednesday… so maybe it is something like that and you’ll see it tomorrow?

purplg8r I hope the pain goes away and internet hugs. Enjoy the trip!

@justkeepswimming8 My FIL regularly says he can’t wait until I give him a grandson to “carry on the bloodline.” First, shut up. Second, what is it? 1765? Third, is it really that important to carry on this specific bloodline… I mean we aren’t royals… oh, and your granddaughter and all of your daughter’s children (including sons)? No big deal, huh? Just need your son to have a son…. But ugh… I would cringe if I were you… Sorry you had to deal with that.

  • @EmilyLove25 I can't see your chart, but if you had a solid/peak smiley on the 16th, that means you can O as late as 48 or even 72 hours later. Same with the cheapies, but they really are different tests, as in, they work differently, so although they may not "line up" perfectly together, it doesn't necessarily mean they are not in agreement about when you may ovulate.

Fx you see your spike tomorrow! But you still need 3 elevated temps to indicate an actual SHIFT to confirm O.

So as this excerpt from the CB Adv pdf online states, it's looking for LH and E3G, where the cheapies just test for LH.  So the digi may peak based on the estrogen levels, but it won't register on a cheapie till the LH peaks. That's how the digis can "identify a longer FW" ;)

  • @EmilyLove25. I think opks can be great for ppl just starting or newer to ttc, especially who get ku in the first 3-6 cycles with basically that alone and TI (or FFI "fertility focused intercourse"). Probably around the 4-6 month mark is where I think it'd be nice to add temping, too, bc the opks alone definitely don't give the full picture. (Me personally, I had already been temping for a while to get a grip on my cycle, well before we started trying, so I only added opks bc we weren't ku in 6-8 months or so, and I wondered if I was missing something.)

But if you're already temping it depends.  Some women find if they have a wonky cycle temp-wise for whatever reason, travel, illness, MOTN emergency, shiftwork etc. they want to have that extra reassurance by seeing multiple signs line up. (paying attention to CM is an additional sign that helps a lot of women, too)  some women never turn a + opk but get a temp shift, so it's all about finding out what works for you ;)
