Oof, we fell asleep in the livingroom last night and once we got up, I tidied up the kitchen a bit, brushed teeth and went back to bed upstairs, except... Nope! Did not fall back asleep for several hours, and then I had to get DH up early ish for work. So sleeeeepy....
I'm at the allergist for retesting today. Bring on all the needles. Spoiler: I'm still allergic. How do I know? I haven't been allowed to take antihistamines for 3 days in preparation for this testing and I currently can't breathe through my nose. All sorts of fun.
We're trying to enjoy the last weekend before DH starts working overtime on weekends. Planning to finally play some of the board games I got for Christmas and my birthday today and to just take it easy for the most part! We do have to do our taxes still, so that will be a break in the fun. Tomorrow we're going to see Beauty and the Beast, though!
@cdnrunning, they are all new to me! We're going to start with Tokaido and then choose from Monarch, Biblios, World's Fair 1893, or Grand Hotel Austria. I've been on the lookout for games that are well-reviewed and supposedly good for two players.
@LoveInDC I've read stuff about TTGP and antihistamines but I refuse to give them up. I found out I had allergies because I couldn't hear out of one of my ears. In the waiting room for that appointment a lady told me her husband had permanent hearing loss from it! Allergies blow.
To everyone who thinks pads are gross/refuses to wear them because they feel like diapers, count yourself lucky. TMI, but on my heavy days I need a super tampon and a pad...
Speaking of that, for people who use the cup, how do you deal with it at work/in public bathrooms with stalls? I go home at lunch on work days so I might be able to avoid emptying it at work, but it kind of depends. Obviously I'm hoping this is my last period for 9+ months but might as well be prepared.
I'm too exhausted to post in any other board today. I'm going to be lurking for now Had some guests over from out of town and they finally left. I am not doing anything today but lying on my couch with my cat. I'll also make a pot pie at some point and eat all of it. #goals
@MJDsquared I've only used the cup for one cycle so far but I haven't had to empty it at work or a public bathroom yet. Since it can stay in up to 12 hours I usually just empty it before I leave for work.
@Augusta108 I'm also going to see Beauty and the Beast tomorrow!
@morado23 I hear ya, working nights sucks. I can't sleep without my face mask, white noise, and blackout curtains.
Had a horrible night at work last night. Didn't sit down all night and when I got out of bed this afternoon I was like an achy old lady. Totally don't feel like going back tonight but it's my last shift for the weekend.

@MJDsquared - Honestly, if you want to start using a cup, I would recommend using it when you aren't at work the first couple of times. There's a serious learning curve and it takes some practice. On my first two days of AF, I have to wear a liner with my cup because, for some reason, I can't get a good seal (maybe my cervix is too low or something). After the first two days I just empty it morning and evening until AF is gone! I have had to empty it at work before and I just wiped the outside off with a little toilet paper and put it back in.
ETA - My OB/GYN said benadryl was fine and I'm with you - Without antihistamines I would be miserable 24/7.

It has been a very bumpy start to my weekend. I'd really appreciate if y'all could keep me in your thoughts/prayers.
Yesterday I went to the ER because I was having pain in my leg so badly that I couldn't even make it across the hall from my bedroom to the bathroom when I woke up. They discovered that I have deep vein thrombosis and immediately put me on blood thinners. I'm basically not allowed to do anything for the next week because the dosage is so high that even a minor injury could be fatal. This coupled with a torn tendon in my foot (injured ~1 month ago) is not fun and I'm looking at an addition 1-3 months of recovery time. I also have no idea what this means for our IVF plans, since I'm sure they won't allow me to get treatments while I'm on the blood thinners.

@LoveInDC I hear ya about allergies!! I get shots every three weeks for mine. My allergist said Rhinocort is the only prescription she'll give me while pregnant because the Brits used it "like water" for enough time that there's enough data on it to know it's safe. Benadryl is also ok but will knock you out. I love my Astepro nose spray but she said it's too new to have any research about use while pregnant.

@eggplantface - yesterday they said maybe 3 months of treatment. I have one week of the heavy-duty stuff and then my PCM will monitor me from there. We'll have to wait to see what the other docs say, but they'll probably need to wait for tests for me, especially blood draws!

@MJDsquared I'm right there with you about the cup. I try to work from home on my heaviest two days, because I always have to empty it at least once during the day on those days. When that's not possible, we have some accessible restrooms with sinks inside the room (no stalls), so I usually make sure to use one of those when I have to do a cup change. I also don't get a perfect seal, but I assumed it was related to my heavy flow. In any case, I like the cup much better than tampons, and wearing a liner is a small price to pay for me.
Back on the bench. DH and I talked about scheduling my visit and it turns out April won't work for us. Earliest I'll see him is this summer, hopefully first week of July.
It's so frustrating, but we weighed the pros and cons, and it makes more sense for him to either come home for a week or for me to go out there this summer. It's frustrating having to wait to see him.
Me: 28 DH: 29 Married: 6/2016 TTC #1: 12/2016 Benched due to deployment- Off the bench 8/8/17!
@cdnrunning, we ended up playing Tokaido this morning and then Grand Austria Hotel all afternoon. We had a really great time playing both and will definitely play them again. Tokaido was a faster game with easier to understand rules, but once we got the hang of Grand Austria Hotel it was equally fun! (And I'm not just saying that because I won. By a lot. Ahem.)
@SingleGeneMe, Tokaido is really pretty! My DH was even commenting on how gorgeous everything was. I've never played Castles of Mad King Ludwig, but I'll add it to our list! Playing games together is definitely a nice break from just vegging out in front of the TV.
@AlohaKumu, I'm so sorry to hear about the deep vein thrombosis! Rest up and let DH pamper you!
@jsnakehole, ugh, sorry to hear that the April visit won't work out. I can imagine it's really frustrating to have to wait until July!
@eggplantface@MJDsquared thanks for the allergy love! I'm on Allegra-D mostly. My allergist and OBGYN have both cleared it for use when TTC and through pregnancy. My shots showed progress, but I'm still probably going to need them for another 3-4 years. Right now I'm going once a month, so not so bad. The clusters were killer though.
@MJDsquared When cleaning my cup in public, I dump it, wipe it as best as I can, wrap it, set it aside, clean myself, and put the cup back in. You can give it a full rinse/clean when you have access to a private bathroom. But I agree, get some practice in first.
@AlohaKumu: that's so scary! Really happy that it was diagnosed on time and that you're receiving medication! Sending healing vibes your way!
@Augusta108: awesome I'll be adding your two to my list Same goes for yours @SingleGeneMe, thanks!
Our downstairs reno has started. Woohoo! To save on cost we're doing a couple of things ourselves (part of the demo and digging), I'm sure I'll feel that tomorrow Tonight a quiet night in, watching The Cliff on Netflix.
@morado23, I'm up far earlier than I'd like to be too, but I've been spending the time playing around online. Now I feel like a slacker! But my laundry is doing fine in that basket on top of the dryer, really...
I've been up for hours to work on my burlesque costume. It's looking like I'm going to have to sew myself into the bottoms tomorrow before I head out to my show.
I'm dreading going to work tomorrow. My principal still hasn't observed me, and I have no idea what to do for writing (which is the subject she always likes to hit me for). I would actually rather stay home and clean than go to work.
