So... teeth?

I am 5 weeks along, and this is my first pregnancy, so if this is a thing, I had no idea. I was brushing my teeth, an I noticed that on my two front teeth, the bottom half of them are white and the top half is yellow. Just the two front teeth! It is starkly obvious when I smile!l...like a child colored the top half of each tooth with a yellow marker. It looks awful. WTF???
My SO and I searched Google to see what this could possibly be and there are some suggestions that a combination of hormones and vitamins can do this. I have never heard of this! Has this happened to anyone? How did you handle it, besides deciding to never smile again? :s

  • I don't know about color change, but my teeth moved when I was pregnant the first time. Like I woke up one morning and I looked like Michael Strahan. My midwife just kind of said pregnancy does lots of weird things to your body and left it at that.

  • Not happened to me but that does sound more like an annoyance than anything else. Maybe the dentist can give you something to fix it.
  • @LunaMo I'm sorry you're having problems. I think some women were discussing dental stuff on the symptoms thread. By any chance have you been experiencing morning sickness? That can affect tooth enamel, but isn't usually a quick change as far as I know. Do you drink acidic drinks? Do you brush your teeth twice a day? (The last question isn't facetious. I know I've been so exhausted that I've fallen asleep without brushing a few times.) Medications can soften teeth. I agree with PP that it won't hurt to ask your dentist.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  •  The weird thing is, it has seem to have gone away by itself. My teeth look like a normal color now. Maybe it was just a weird pregnancy symptom that I didn't expect. I do have regular dental hygiene, I've been taking my regular  vitamins, but I have not had any morning sickness yet.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm still going to talk to my dentist about it, because it was really weird to have two color teeth. I'm so relieved that my teeth are back to normal.
