GTKY -03/16/2017 What kind of music do you love?

I like a wide variety.  My absolute favorite is Pearl Jam.  I am into pretty much any 90's grunge.  More recent favorites include The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, and The Shins.

My husband and I just scored tickets to see The Shins in May and I am stoked!!

  • Just Hamilton lately.

I like everything from pop, metal, Caribbean (dancehall, reggaeton), show tunes, a little country, a little r&b, rap, punk, whatever. It's all over the place.

  • I am a jumbled mess of everything really, I love show tunes which in itself is a variety but I also love country and 90's music, I also love jazz music and find it relaxing. I just can't limit myself to anything
  • @ChattyKitty17 Did you see LaLa Land?

  • Bollywood and mostly pop. I think my taste in music changes with age. Off late I've been enjoying intrumental and 80s music. Strange.
  • Hamilton for me too! And pretty wide variety other than that. I like top 40, I LOOOVE Beyonce, can get into country, love Queen, the Beatles, Sublime, Michael Jackson and lots of classic rock, and can also do some jam band stuff like citizen cope or slightly stoopid. Pretty much can get down to anything
  • Damn, @ElizabethSchuyler I can't even read the board with out singing ELIIIIZAAA every time I see your name. I love it!
  • Ok you ladies are seriously making me want to download Hamilton now. I have not yet been exposed to it. Lame I know. Which number shall I start with?

    @ShePersisted
You have to listen to it all, in order. But if you dont wanna get that hardcore

Alexander Hamilton is the first number, super catchy and fun.

The Schuyler Sisters is full of awesome

Dear Theodosia will make you ugly cry but in a good way right now.

One Last Time is my personal favorite

But it really is best to take 2 1/2 hours out of your life and just take it all in. I promise you won't be disappointed!

ETA now i feel like I've left out so much amazingness. That was too hard of a question lol
  • @ugoglencoco the saddest part is I live in NYC and have still not gone to see the show. I have been wanting to forever. I think I'll take a day off one of these days and go do that.
  • I like a wide variety as well, lots of 90s (miss the 90s grunge!), country music and I have always been a die hard Meatloaf fan.

  • @ArtificialRed I love ZBB too!

  • I love all kinds of music, but I listen to a lot of alternative rock, folk music, and acapella. I like pop music too tho, or at least, I like it until they play it to death on the radio :#  Also I am kind of obsessed with video game soundtrack music?? Mass Effect 3 has an amazing soundtrack, and I'm really fond of all three Dragon Age game soundtracks.

Anyway. Some of my favorite artists include Muse, Les Friction, Hurts, 30 Seconds to Mars, Sia, Ruelle, Lorde, and Florence and the Machine.

  • I am not really into a specific genre. I tend to like specific songs or artists.

My favorite artists for a while though has been Ed Sheeran. I have come to like a lot of his songs and hoping to go to a concert this year, but his tickets are pricey!

DH has an XM radio trial subscription and I do love to listen to 90's on 9 for some throw back songs!

  • When I was younger I listened mostly to punk and metal, but these days I listen to a pretty wide range from 80s/90s pop to country to techno/electro/dance to new wave to Celtic with lots in between!

@dragonfly87 My coworker and I tried to get ES tickets when they went on sale at 10am. The site went down for two minutes and they were gone when it came back up. She said they sold out in presale, but might add new dates.
@ArtificialRed @jess0211 I love ZBB too. I saw them around the 4th of July and they had fireworks over the waterfront during Chicken Fried during the military part. DH is not a country fan, but he is a veteran and gives them major props for that song.
@lahansen Have you listened to any punk goes pop covers?
@ugoglencoco I am a history nerd and now I guess I need to listen to Hamilton!

  • @NYTino24 I hadn't specifically heard of Punk Goes Pop, but I went and checked it out and recognized songs from it that were on a mix CD someone made for me years ago that were all punk covers... the Rufio cover of Like A Prayer was always a favorite :)
